We put on The Scottish Play when I was in high school .. we had a LOT of kids that had to go outside, spin around, spit, and request to come back in. Took that shit SERIOUSLY 😅
Hope you guys never feel the need to apologise for your intro ramblings. I love them when they’re as interesting and fun as these ones or even the more mundane ones. Love you guys. Been listening to 2020 and i look forward to listening every Sunday :)
I was just sitting on the patio, anxiety- spiraling, so I was like let me find something to watch to distract. The complete 180 my brain chemistry did seeing this was an option was astronomical. -fan, less anxious, from Florida 💚
Great episode yall!! Christine - Well done! The first time I ever heard of Burke and Hare was from the podcast Tenfold More Wicked - The host did a multi part series on them! Crazy!
I just moved to a hundred year old home in Ohio, planted up my garden yesterday! Wish my basement had a bar in it! It does have a black snake as a resident, which is so adorable I can't stand it.
You guys are the greatest Sunday morning shopping companions. Thank you for constantly keeping me entertained during the most monotonous tasks. Makes my wholeeeeee week after spending time with y’all ❤️❤️❤️
Theatre kid here, from my experience other theatre kids have been really nice, that being said I think it just depends on the group you find. The first group I was in was rather iffy now that I think about it. college is way better than highschool. Anyways, I find it really cool that you did Macbeth this week since I actually used info you said about Hecate as inspiration for a part of my tech final (where we created a scene design for Macbeth) and made it so you can use a backlight to create the shadow of a cross road when she showed up, so thank you! Edit- also, fun fact, the play is also based on a real Macbeth in Scottish history and is basically the story of how the king's ancestor Fleance had gotten into power
Y’all I’m not even in a theatre but we have a matinee today for the play I’ve been working on. Pretty soon after em started their story our main lead told us she’s throwing up and very dizzy. Her understudy (who is also a lead) got stung by a wasp and can’t move her leg. Our backup understudy can’t stay the whole show tonight so tbh we might have to cancel. I should have known I’ve been in theatre too long.
I'm not a bartender, but I am a hotel receptionist who is allowed to serve drinks/alchohol, and as someone who doesn't drink/know anything about drinks myself I always count down the hours (I work the night shift) until I am no longer allowed to serve people. Everytime someone orders a drink I have to ask them to describe it in detail (down to the type of glass used) or just point at it/guide me through making it. Once I even had to ask the old couple ordering wine for help to open the bottle because I wasn't able to figure it out. And it doesn't help that I'm very introverted/anxious and afraid of conflicts so handling drunk people is the worst. Safe to say, serving drinks is my least favourite part of my job.
Me, listening to this episode while I work on stuff before class, and realizing i’m hearing Em’s story while actively in an academic building with a huge ass theater
They’re starting off the episode talking about headaches and migraines. Luckily I only get one or two migraines a year…as long as I keep my triggers under control. Regular headaches are a whole different story. I can’t go a week without getting at least one headache. It’s such a pain in the neck!
I've never felt more validated than listening to Christine's stories about highschool and just Social life in general. The theater girls were super mean and uninviting at the SCHOOLS i went to. I tried to get into the scene at multiple different schools and they said thanks but no thanks.
They paid more for bodies in winter because the ground was frozen and harder to dig thru quickly (probably) since the students didn't know they were murder victims
I just want y'all to know that it's because of this episode that I learned of the existence of Ratatouille the Musical, and I'm now having a little bit of an existential crisis over it. I can't believe it's been almost two and a half years and I'm just now learning about this.
46:04 okay, here's mine: during quarantine, my loneliness got so bad that i created this little inanimate object "family" and i would give them all names and birthdays... the day that i gave each a name would be their birthday, and on each of their birthdays, i would lay a blanket out in the middle of my room, neatly line up and place each and every one of the members of my inanimate object family, and throw them a tea party. (also i feel so bad commenting because it's at 69 comments rn, now i'm the one to ruin the funny number..)
AYE I SUGGESTED CHRISTINE'S STORY LIKE 5 MONTHS AGO WHEN I GOT BACK FROM SCOTLAND! I know everything about this case and all of the places, this is so fun! They display the serial killers skeleton in exhibits about the body snatchers and Scotland's medical renaissance as a fuck-you to him for stealing other people's bodies and killing people! So I have seen his real skeleton! It was in an temp exhibit in Edinburgh national history museum last fall. A whole section of the exhibit was just about the murders and had pieces from crime scenes and bones and such!
As a theatre professional I'm so happy I took a personal day. Do not want to bring that into my theatre (Arena Stage in DC!) But also I never say the M word ever unless I'm working on a production. I do not fuck with those witches. I actually feel uncomfortable every time Em says it!
When i was in high school the drama club performed macbeth. No one got hurt but there was some negative consequences. For some reason the play included many make out scenes between lady macbeth and macbeth. It was kind of exesive like wayyy too much tongue. The guy who played macbeth had a girlfriend and she was not happy about it. Of course since this was high school, the girl who played lady macbeth was heavily bullied afterwards by the macbeth actor's girlfriend's friends. It was sad but why did the drama teacher even think including those scenes be ok???
I love how y’all are mentioning how you were probably meant to be theater kids, but just weren’t bc of xyz reasons. I often like calling people “_____ adjacent” in which a person embodies the personality and hobbies of a certain troupe/cliche, but aren’t actually IN the said troupe/cliche. I am a former theater kid, most of my friends growing up were fellow theater kids, but we had other close friends in our group who were not in the plays and musicals, but were certainly adjacent: they were on stage crew, they were in the orchestra, or marching band, they were in the choirs, they were in bands outside of school, etc. I would say the majority of my friends now in adulthood are former/current theater kids or theater kid adjacent and we all listen to ATWWD and agree that it feels like you both would fit some seamlessly into our friend group. So y’all are theater kid adjacent! I have some friends who I call “frat boy adjacent” bc they literally behave, drink, and dress like average frat boys but will never and could never ever actually be in a fraternity.
NOOOOO! Sorry Em I gotta skip yours. This is the thing I’m most superstitious about. I was the fight director of the most stereotypical production of McB(there was literal death and major health issues. The only show I’ve done that has to close early) and I got Covid for the first time in 3 years after the wig lady of the show I was doing said it. I’m currently in my dream show in my dream role. I can’t have that juju 😱
I know Em is not a parent and does not personally want to be one (which is totally fine) but a pregnancy pillow is life changing 🥰 I have one that’s basically two body pillows connected at the top and I can wrap my arms and legs around it and it’s like being hugged by a giant pillow. Plus there’s allllll kinds of styles and types of them. I kinda want to get another that’s different bc I’ve seen a few that look way too cozy and I also am a pillow hugger/need support 😂 (tho I am currently pregnant, I’ll still more than likely use my pillow after I’ve had my baby LOL)
Oh, a, oh I used to live here Oh a oh What did you tell them? Spirits killed the alien bartender Spirits killed the alien bartender Dentist office came and broke their home Oh, a, a, a, oh
Anyone else elated when they see a 2hr + time stamp? Best part of Sundays. Bring on the Star-tender
Damn the curse of Macbeth really is rated E for everyone

Sooo next ghost spot for tour…Christine’s house? 😂

That bit about the FoD picture and Mary and Janet was absolutely hilarious!
I also thought someone was playing Macbeth's pants 🤣🤣
I'm sitting here dying and laughing like I'm part of the conversation 😅
I didnt realize how much went into the Macbeth curse 😱 I thought it was just actors superstition 🤯
I THOUGHT EM MEANT AN ACTOR PLAYING THE TIGHTS TOO 😭😭😭
That what my ears heard too!
I love Em’s laugh!!!! So contagious ❤
I just moved to a hundred year old home in Ohio, planted up my garden yesterday! Wish my basement had a bar in it! It does have a black snake as a resident, which is so adorable I can't stand it.

I'm really glad Christine thought there was an actor playing Macbeth's tights because that's what I heard too 😂😂
Em getting into Startender is the ATWWD: Yogscast crossover I never expected to get 😍
Hahaha. I too misunderstood the actor playing the tights part hahahahahaha
Eye of newt actually means mustard seed. There are several herbs, like goat’s horn which is just a chili pepper, that have cool nicknames.

Ahh you guys are amazing!! Did someone say murder!? 😅
Not morbid and atwwd doing Burke and hare I’m so happy to be in this
Morbid sucks and is problematic 👎🏼

Whatever that light is to the right behind Em is going crazy this episode.
Xtine I thought the same thing about the actors tights during Em’s story 😂

Morbid suuuuucks

Not me listening to this while I work... at a historical theater... (I live in fear now)

God I fucking love ya'll. Maybe put a disclaimer on that M story for us superstitious theater kids😂😂 it gives me goosecam for no good reason at all😂
Been sleeping with a leg pillow since middle school 😤 now I just use a body pillow and one head pillow
My phone disconnected itself from my Chromecast while Christine was telling her ghost update. Love that for me
Is it because my name is Walter
@@waltprd17 Must be 🤣
where can i find that funny or die picture, my mental wellbeing depends on this
It's on our socials!
They paid more for bodies in winter because the ground was frozen and harder to dig thru quickly (probably) since the students didn't know they were murder victims
C’s story was really fun today
I thought it was the tights too... i even rewinded
