Having ridden to the top of this hillclimb via the network of trails that the club maintains (on a trials bike) I can say the video does absolutely no justice for how steep and ridiculously tall this hill is. These guys have serious cojones for launching themselves up this hill!! Thanks for sharing the video.
This is a good little hill. Now watch the video's 📹 about the world championship hillclimb in Jackson Hole Wyoming a view! Again I'm definitely not denying this is a good track..from Wyoming USA 🇺🇲🤠
I rode my Harley to freemansburg back in the late 70’s and there was a 80 year old judge who rode a old Indian and he was slow as hell, but he made it to the top! The crowd went crazy!!!
I went to Freemansburg several times in the 70's, and one time I wangled a Press Pass, and stood on the hill, photographing the bikes as they flew by overhead! Lou Gerencer on his Harley, Earl Bowlby on his BSA, Williams on his Honda. Yep, the Good Old Days.
I love it when you got these guys that have 3 I r 4 crew members helping him at the start and takes for every to every leave and then wipes out about halfway up, and then you have a guy comes up by himself barely even stops at the start and takes off and rides all the way over the top like it was a Sunday afternoon cruise!!!!!!
That's what I was wondering if I had to guess they're trying to blow the exhaust out of the helmet of the rider the nitro would probably make their eyes water real bad

In the 80's it would be a handful at most that would make it. I believe it is the advancement of the bikes that is making it possible for more to get to the top. I have been to the top on a few occasions on dirt bikes.(going up the down trail)There's nothing easy about that hill.
I went to the hill climb either 79, 80 or 81. One of those three. Very few guys made it up the hill to the top. Also in 79 or 80 I was invited to go to the hill to go sledding/tubing. I was working for a house Framer. He said let's go. But I didn't. I went shoveling snow because I had to make money. Anyway Joe, the owner of the Framing company, and all-around good guy went tubing. He was injured. I forget what it was. May be a broken shoulder? Ribs? I'm not going to use his last name here. He was from Lehigh county originally and lived in Allentown when I worked for him. I'll give you a hint, disco Joey. Anyway, as I sit here having evolved to a reasonable cautious self I wonder, is it riskier ascending the hill on a motorized vehicle where you have some ability to steer and provide the level of propulsion you desire,,, 0R,,, is it a greater risk descending the hill, with gravity and the slickness of the precipitation on the Earth dictating your speed and your steering Is left up to,,,, oh yeah,,, steering is helpful. Anyway Joe. Thanks for everything David Who referred Rocky to you.
Is that bike turbo'd at 11:10, sounds like u can hear turbo whistle and looks like there's charge pipe on the left kinda where radiators.are usually. That's sick. Also great vid but you should show the times a little more
Some of these bikes making so much horsepower don't make it up the hill and then you see a two-stroke just rip right up... Also I think it'd be cool to see an electric dirt bike do this they do make gobs of torque
These videos amaze me... These dudes have very decked out bikes, lavish uniforms, helmets, etc... Clearly - they think this is a monumental undertaking and a momentous "achievement" and they appear to be well prepared... Then, half of these people don't even get a third of the way up the hill... It's like preparing / training for a marathon, getting the most expensive running attire (shoes, shorts, etc); and then completing the arduous run in 17 hours...
That’s so funny that they use air blowers for the riders. I’m an old top fuel fan and they ran eight cylinder with that in their face with respirators. Best fuel but it sure kills your eyes and nose.
The French can climb this hill with their finger in their nose Den Berg schaffen die Franzosen mit einem Finger in der Nase Les Français peuvent gravir Cette côte avec le doigt dans le nez
Like a peewee battery operated blower is going to make any difference. Maybe let off the throttle when in the air. Clean your goggles before being ready to ride.
Amazing talent building these machines. Whoever's in the pits should take some of the rebel flag wavers to the side and have a small private chat about morality. Great show!
Look at this guy number 2, 3 of them at the start holding his bike while he is fixing his goggles, like he hasn't known for last 30 minutes when his turn was and waited until it was time to take off from the start line to adjust his goggles and yeah you made it but no one was impressed, hope you didn't mess your hair putting on your helmet!!!!!!!!
And exactly why did one ride feel it necessary to have the Confederate flag on his ride? Anything wrong the ACTUAL flag, you know, the one soldiers have died for in foreign countries? A*****e. So much for this video.
@@davidlavll5621 Wow. Hard to be so wrong and so arrogant at the same time, but you managed it. The Union Jack does not have stars in its blue "X". However, the Confederate flag did.
This is a good example for the woke dreamers of how men and women are very different lol. A girl might make it to the top without spinning a tire but guys can't and they are a bit faster lol.
Obviously @veetwin75 you don't ride, or haven't been to an event, videos do no justice. Many times we have seen folks that go out and buy the biggest baddest bike of the year and are lucky to go 100ft. You must be the leaf blower holder? ✌🏻💚🌬💨💨😶🌫️

Wow! The pure power of 2stroke, amazing
When you went to hillclimbs in the 1950s, This video is quite entertaining. Nice track too. NOW, git up the hill..................
The camera does not do this Justice, this hill isn't straight up and down, but it's close, and taller than it looks.
Excellent camera work all action thank you
I would love to see this in person. I love motorcycles and I would love to see step by step how their built and everything else that goes with it.
Oregonia Ohio, Devils Stair Case is what I grew up watching from the hill.
Looks way steeper in person.
Those are some badass machines
550 feet to the top. It is damn scary, from the top, looking down.

My favorite event is when they have 4 or 5 of the 450’s line up and drag race up the hill.
These guys may have cojones, but when over 15 riders ascend it successfully, it tells us that it isn't as hard as you think..

Can someone please explain the leaf blower use pre run?
It blows the nitro fumes away so the riders can get a few good breaths before the run.
You only realize how steep the hill is when someone falls over and rolls away. The power of some of these machines is beyond comprehension!

So what's the leaf blower on the rider for?
Blowing the nitro fuel exhaust fumes away from the rider's face
@joebarber1164 that was my 1st thought ?
bike at 2:30 made me feel weird, it sounded like a 2 stroke while idling but once it got climbing it sounded like a 4 stroke
What kind of motors are they running on the this hill climb and are they turbocharged or supercharged or just normally aspirated
I believe they use sport bike motors, probably 750cc+
Probably NA
At least some of these are running nitromethane fuel
There was one turbo with launch control, he didn't get far...
@@fungdark8270 You can tell when the idle is loud and hyperactive, and the rider gets fresh air blown at their head.
@@gertnood ahhh so that's whats going on with the leaf blowers. I did wonder. Usually watch European hill climbes and haven't seen anyone doing that.
Can someone explain to me why they keep blowing the riders faces before they take off is it because of the nitro fuel or what?
God put me on earth to do this
@@crispindry2815 is that all you could think of? Childsplay
Why do they all have leaf blowers?
Nitro fumes, which is basically nitric acid.
Motocross hillclimb 🏆🏁🏍👍
Boy, at 22:08 that engine speaks, it actually says "vroom vroom vroom" and rolls the r's.
You throttled 3 whiskeys
What are the leaf blowers for?
to keep top fuel fumes from burning eyes and throat
What the heck.. Who won?
Only 45 minutes from home went a few times fun day hanging out if you like bikes
I’m about 25 away. I think I’m going to the one this September.
What's that leaf blower for
Keep the rider cool? Perhaps to keep the fumes away on the start line
Nitro fumes
I seen this guy with a stock Harley-Davidson go up that hill😮
Реально на резиновых шипах вероятность добраться до финиша больше. Да метал хватает сильнее, но из-за этого получается рывак и падение.
Why is that guy pointing the leaf blower at the riders face?
Trying to make up for non existent skills...
Because the nitro methane fuels burn the riders eyes.
Fumes are a serious problem in there situation.
why they don't shift into first gear themselves ?
Bikes are heavy. Easier not to
whats the motor on these?
600,750, 1000 nitro

Unlike the two-stokes if you get off the pipe, a 4 stroke pinned to the rev limiter doesn't exactly tend to bog down does it
If everyone had a 4 stoke that would be dumb. If it hurts your ears put plugs in. You must've forgotten people are different than you.
