In this video I'm unboxing and doing a close up look at the new Behringer Ultravoice UV1. For my first recording example of the Behringer UV1 I pair it up with the Tech Zone Audio Products Stellar X2 XLR studio condenser microphone.
For the actual recording of the audio output from the Behringer UV1 I have it connected via USB to my Mac Studio Ultra and I am using DaVinci Resolve to record the output from the UV1.
One thing worth mentioning is that my Mac seen the UV1 without any issues and Resolve also seen it immediately as an output device for audio monitoring and also as an audio input source for routing the mic to an audio track in the Fairlight audio page in Resolve.
I will do a video soon showing how to connect the Behringer UV1 to a Mac and also a number of other devices such as iPhone, iPad, Android phone and Android tablet.
The Behringer UV1 is basically a traditional voice channel strip which is also a USB audio interface, or sound card as some people call these things. It comprises of a microphone and line in pre-amp on XLR and 1/4" quarter inch jack, compressor, de-esser, enhancer, expander/gate. There's also a an effects bypass switch, a master output summing bus and a headphone monitor section that has a direct monitor function that balances the input of the UV1 against the return of a DAW from the USB connection.

Awesome Video Dave, 2 years from the vodeo , are you still happy with it? I'm a Hip-Hop Artist and I'm very interested in the UV1 , I think it can help reduce the workload on my PC and make the mixing process easier. Cheers

Hi. Definitely still happy with it and I would totally recommend it. In fact, for its price, there is still nothing that competes with it as far as the processing and interfacing is concerned. As I work mostly on headphones and only need one input for a mic or guitar, this interface is perfect as it is essentially a USB audio interface as well as the mic/channel processor. Cheers, Dave.

@@DavidHarry Thanks Harry , I'm really considering getting it because I feel it can help me get a good vocal take and help me with mixing. Cheers

Yes you are the best person doing this on UA-cam (I watched the whole video!). From listening on my phone yes it sounds great! I’ve only known that company to make speakers. In my experience they make good monitor speakers but not so good main PA speakers. Good demo! Cheers!

How does this compare to the dbx286. The midas mic preamps on my umc404hd are decent but they went cheap on the headphone amp. Is the headphone amp underpowered on this piece as well. Have they posted the SINAD numbers? and spec for preamp and headphone amplifier? Are they giving us transparency with noise below audibility?

Can you hook up two monitors to the two outputs...one 1/4 and the other xls and get a signal to both monitors and be able to set the volume...I know you wouldn't be able to have a volume setting for each, but that can be done not e monitor; but having both monitors giving a signal would be a deal breaker. Also what plug did you use to go to your camera...I would imagine the 1/4 to 1/8?

      @DavidHarryUncut 2 роки тому

You can use the outputs simultaneously to drive anything, amps etc. However, this is only a mono output from whatever is being preamplified. You could use the headphone output if set low and this would also supply a stereo signal from whatever is being monitored from your DAW etc. I connected to my camera via an XLR to 3.5mm cable and also 1/4” to 3.5mm. Cheers, Dave.

There's a bizarre coincidence. I bought one of these so I could work in the kitchen (recording on my iPad) after they started drilling for two months, loud as hell, outside my home office. I screwed the UV1 under my breakfast bar with rack brackets. It worked so well (connected and worked immediately with decent audio), using an NTG-1 shotgun, I bought another a few days later to work when I'm away from home. I screwed the lugs off it and it goes with me in the holdall.

Hi Daniel. I was going to take the rack ears off as well but I didn’t fancy it after seeing that the sides are exposed with the rack ears off. Although, for portability it definitely makes a lot of sense. I’ve also put some rubber feet on mine as I don’t rack mount it and didn’t want to scratch my work table. You may want to check out the Behringer UMC2020HD for portability. It’s not a voice channel like the UV1 but it has two nice mic amps which actually have more gain than the UV1. It’s also bus powered and class compliant, I use it with an iPad Pro with my DAW for ultra portability and then I can export the project to my DAW on the Mac. I’ve got a few more videos using the UV1 and will do some more and will be doing some tutorials on my main channel showing how to use it with Resolve at some point. I’m still shocked that not many are using the UV1, it’s easily the best device of its type for anywhere near its price and it’s preamp is great on its own. Cheers, Dave.

@@DavidHarryUncut The exposed sides were something I was going to mention. I strategically cut and covered mine with black gaffa tape and it looks like part of the case, though obviously won't resist a knock. I've just bought some rubber feet for another project, so that's a good call. The UMC2020HD looks like a good solution, but a noise gate is imperative for my line of work (tutorials with long silences as I work software, when you can otherwise hear passersby and traffic). The UV1 provides the full package in one box to avoid any post production. I'm surprised too how little covered there is on it.

How do get audio from the unit. I can hear audio being sent to it (using the monitor Jack on the front) but nothing on rear at all to send out to rack gear

Hi! Sorry for the question..is it possible to connect the uv1 directly into a multitrack like the zoom r24 instead of a computer?
    Thanks

what bothers me is that behringer hasn't made an xlr input at the back, so you can hide the cables just out of sight

There is no such thing called Rode Podcaster Pro. The AOI podcast device is called Rodecaster Pro.
