Probably should have shown the amazing sportsmanship Alaphillipe showed when Yates went down by waiting for him after he crashed
phillipe gilbert is a beaaaast but after the race he said to give up
Cant wait for tomorrows stage.... Froome will surely give it the full beans up the final climb...will Thomas have the legs on him or not? Will Dumoulin be in the mix?
Roger Sowerbutts I Think G and Froome will battle for 1st, Tom will be 3rd
But its a very short ride tomorrow. So Tom could go all in. Throw Roglic into that conversation as well.
Tom will eat them in the TT
simpson2221 Go Froome !
Nah Tom will just lose time in that mountainous TT, either Froome or G will be first in the TT
Alaphilippe delivering this tour
cfra585 Franco yes he did an awesome descent and was pretty clever
By clever you mean having the luck of Simon crashing, or by clever you mean just copying Froome
Martin S
Hello mister IKnowNothingAboutCycling,
Yates crash is not a question of luck or anything else, descent is part of cycling, if you don't know how to take a curve, you fall and you lose.
I didn't see Alaphilippe crashing so Alaphilippe > Yates, he deserves the win.
Then if you keep analyse the stage, in the top of the mountain, Yates was 25 sec in front of alaphilippe, then juste before the crash, there was only 12 seconds between those two riders, so Alaphilippe would have catch yates before the finish line and he is better in sprint.
To finish you, Froome didn't invent the "egg" position for descent, it's kwyatowsky who did that first after seeing an amateur cyclist doing that.
Good night.
Martin S Mmh I mean not going every attack before the descent. The race wasn't just the descent. Of course that was some luck for him. But I think he would have won anyway.
Dieu Donné wasn't it Mohoric who did it first?
How do you all like the stage so far ?
have been watching TDF for a few years and absolutely love the dynamics.. I am still in dark about how they start the stages though.. do they begin in pack? or individually according to the GC standings? That would consume a lot of time I guess..
anywho, if anyone could explain procedures for stage kickoff that would be very informative!
thanks
They all begin in pack, and for 1 or 2 kilometers after the start nobody can attack
It's a parade at the start on most stages. They call up the jerseys, national champions, etc. to the front for the photos. A local celebrity/politician will "start" the roll out of town (depart fictif). The when they are out of the city streets behind the lead car at controlled speeds and into safer roads the head of the race in the lead car will wave the flag for the "real" start. That's when the breakaway hopefuls begin their attacks.
Thrills and spills.
Why is the yellow jersey pulling Froome for 2 days in the mountains?
Because love them or hate them, you have to respect the Team Sky machine.
#congrats ..... climb today surely #chris and the #nairo will extend more power on this stage.
Why skip the protest footage?
that's the whole point, to avoid granting them further exposure. You don't show the streakers in soccer fields, do you?
Rod Diaz did the streaker tear gas part of the team?
Rod Diaz only if the streaker is hot is the rule.
Nope, and neither the demonstrators. It was a dumb gendarme. That would have made a better point to your original post, to have the riders wiping their eyes and stuff. But I totally understand why they wouldn't publicize the protests, you just provide more incentive to the next guys to try.
It's great to see that you can win a stage without Brailsford secretly bringing you a parcel with salbutamol and other doping remedies.
I really hope they remove the stripes on the Castle Carcassonne. It doesn’t look very nice and I dont think you should do such things to monuments🙁
disc brake would have helped there.
JLP Design just kidding. Right?
god
Thomas should win but will they let him . Froome will puff his way to victory . On stage 17
Awe man. Crash. That sux. Too bad.

What is that castle with the yellow paint called?
Cité de Cacassonne. The yellow is a temporary art installation, and will be peeled off.
adam yates made a very silly mistake. He was braking while taking a big turn. Of course he crashed
felt really bad for him he deserved the stage win on this french asshole
simpson2221 no he didnt deserve it, he made a stupid mistake haha
i want to see you descending this and what will you do
eljamo93 That's What you need to do. Let me ask, have you ever cycled before?
Anything could have happened. Brakes locked, small debris on road, tapped brake too hard, imbalance of bike...Just bad luck which sucks.
Im glad that with 5km left the NBCSN stream went down so I couldn't watch the end of the race. Thanks for being such a expensive and terrible US broadcaster.
Go Froome
Martin S no way looks like he's clean this year.
Or maybe, just maybe because he rode and won the Giro this year?
He gon get bot, and I hope the Vuelta too
Martin S Yeah yeah sky wins every year, not even exciting anymore.
