More talent in one digit of his hand than most all other musicians bodies
I’ve seen Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder live twice. Hands down the tightest band I have ever seen live! Just top level musicians…every one of them! Harmonies are just as good…and no auto tune.
Karla, look up his live country stuff here on UA-cam. ❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Man! Ricky Skaggs is The Best!! I saw Ricky many years ago in Birmingham, Ala. What a Great Show. I went out and bought all his CDs. He sincerely loves Bluegrass. Thank You, Ricky!!❤❤😅😊

2:31 Appalachian Joy (Instrumental)
5:53 Lonesome Night
12:15 Crossville (Instrumental)

21:34 Pig In A Pen
27:32 Rank Stranger
30:46 Bluegrass Breakdown (Instrumental)
53:34 Black Eyed Suzie
The instrumental at 12:15 is actually entitled Crossville. Ricky was traveling up interstate 40 on the bus, getting some ideas for an instrumental. When they came into Crossville Tennessee the tune came to him.
@@andyprice9543I figured that out today I changed it thanks for letting me know also that’s also a great story of how he writes his songs!
Old Ricky has still got the fire! Fantastic show.. many thanks to Sweetwater for putting this up.😁👍🎵🎶🎵🎻🎸
Ricky unapologetically championing the mullet onward.
THAT IS ONE MEAN GUITARIST WITH THE SHADES. LOVE the selections. Thanks Ricky.
Jake workman is hands down the best contemporary bluegrass guitarist out there
This is such a world-class musical operation...!!! Chops and musicality!!!
Big round of applause for the band-Mike Barnett on fiddle, Jake Workman on guitar, Darrin Vincent on vocals and archtop guitar, Paul Brewster on vocals and guitar, Russ Carson on banjo and I’m not sure who the bass player is. Some of the best pickers around. Jake Workman is a total beast!!
Ricky Scaggs is the absolute heir to the bluegrass throne, hands down! Margaret VanDyke
These boys are on 🔥🔥
Love the invisible fiddle player.
That is one outstanding band led by one of the greatest and most successful in bluegrass today. Every song is a perfect performance.
Love the guitar break on Ancient Tones!!! Soo smooth!!!
great musicianship and great sunglasses
What a legend. Hope to make it to gearfest next year
@Ricky Skaggs been a fan since I was a middle schooler in the 80's. seen you on the grand ole opry on the television. great to see a reply from you. :D
Amazing as always
Great stuff!
It would have been great to actually see the great Fiddler, playing for Ricky! I guess the filming crew just decided a Fiddle is too Country? So we wont show him. Gesh hell
15:22 my brain freezes
I think Jake Workman could play the Minute Waltz in 20 seconds
Kind of odd to see those Plexi, as well as the other Marshall head, on stage behind Ricky and the lads. Wonder who was going on after them
COUSIN RICKY!!!!
What's Darrin Vincent doing there? 😉 ...is he back with Kentucky Thunder?
So where is Mike??
Guess the fiddle player didnt make it in the screen shot.
Ya think?? Totally pisses me off, since that is my nephew, who has since suffered a huge brain hemorrhage. He was the best, and no one pays any attention!!
@@diannebarnett3195 Sorry bout your nephew. Sure hope he's OK. Just to be in Ricky's band you better be one heck of a fiddle player which he is! 31:18 WOW
@@diannebarnett3195 seriously, he's killing it. what gives, I want to see his handiwork
@@t3hl1z4rdk1n6 Thank you. I worry most about his dad - my bro. He's despondent and seriously depressed. I'm so glad Mike has his lovely wife to support him through this.
Which Sweetwater?
Who was in charge of the camera angles? What? You didn't think it was important to see the entire band - including the fiddle player?
Oh, I get it....halfway through the show , we finally get a shot of fiddle player.....but then....gone again!
@@diannebarnett3195 Oh wow!! I met him in 2018. I am a huge fan of his work and he is one of the reasons I plan to pursue fiddle professionally. Such a heartbreak what happened in 2020. I hope he’s doing well these days.
I hear fiddle....where’s the fiddler?
All the way to the left. You can see him from 9:27 to 9:40, and very briefly at various other points throughout.
That's my nephew!! . He suffered a massive brain hemorrhage and is currently paralysed on his left side. I hate this video.
@@diannebarnett3195 I am so sorry to hear that. he is so talented! Is there a chance he can regain his ability with rehab? I hope so. I will be praying for his recovery. God can do miracles! Your nephew looks so young, and as long as he is alive there is HOPE. God bless you all.
@@nancyvandepol6813 Thank you. He has worked so hard for this, and his father is devastated.
....sound guys are perfect.....video guys are lost!
Yeah, ok! A lot of performance. So, where is the Microphone Workshop?
IT'S RUDE NOT TO SHOW THE FIDDLER!
Once again, we have tone-deaf video directors who can't find lead instruments, let alone cutting out the fiddle player....Ricky, anytime you need someone with ears to direct your video's, let me know.
The harmony could have been a bit louder too. I love Paul Brewster's voice and it's barely audible, shame.
Such a shame about cutting him out, Mike Barnett- the fiddle player in the video suffered a brain aneurysm in 2020 and will never fully recover to play again.
I hear a fiddle. I don't see a fiddle. I see an old white haired woman. I don't see Ricky Q Skaggs.
Invisible fiddle player -- ugh!
bigdumbidiotguy, Read John 3:16 and give your life to Jesus. I'll see you in heaven someday.
I used to do HVAC work with this older dude named Leonard. He loved Ricky Skaggs and we used to listen to a live album of theirs all the time. It was incredible. We were completely different types of people, he was hyper religious and very conservative but we loved to listen to Skaggs.
