I ain't paying no $52k for an EV or ICE vehicle with my $71k base salary per year. That would be financial suicide. I prefer to finish paying off my mortgage, which I still have $101k left. Some new vehicles are more than $100k. That's INSANE. I'll just keep driving my used reliable vehicles that I paid off already and keep investing in things that make me money like my retirement accounts, my house and savings. Thanks for the video 👍

Yesterday I was at a gas station in Vancouver Canada and 2 people got into a fight over a charging station and the police had to be called. There is several public chargers here but they are never enough because more and more people are buying these vehicles. The sad part is in Canada we are supposed to go 20% electric in 2026, 60% electric in 2030 and 100% electric in 2035. I can only imagine what a nightmare it will be then.

Some shops do work on them. The danger part really isn't so bad. You either do it right or die. Lol. But seriously, it is high voltage with enough amp's to take you out quickly. What I mean by not so bad is you only need to avoid the two big wires from the battery except to disconnect them and three big wires between the ESC and motors if the ones from the battery are still connected. I'm sure there's a few capacitors that pack a punch but shouldn't kill you if they only hold 12 or 24 volts and you are not grounded to the car. I think an electronics engineer, repairman, or even a hobbyist could stay safe. I'm confident that allot of other stuff on them would be better to have factory training before messing with. So, all of that to say I agree with you !

So when I go on a long road trip I take one of my other vehicles. So I would say if your going to buy a ev, make sure you have a second vehicle and you buy a Chevy or a Ford. Lastly a home charger is a must, or don't get a ev.

First of all, people aren't changing their minds. They never wanted EVs in the first place. Nobody cares if Tesla owners are upside down with their car loans. In 2022 I tried to buy a 6 year old Dodge Challenger. The car was worth 15k and I offered the guy 20k and he turned me down. He wanted 33 which was 5,000 more than it cost new. A 6 YEAR OLD DODGE! Do I have to tell ya? He got the 33k for a 6 year old Dodge, God love him. Now the markets crashed and I saw a 2017 Charger for 17,500 at a dealer the other day. This tells me with a clean cash deal, you could get it for 15 exactly where we started from. That means that guy who bought that Challenger for 33k is now 16,000 dollars underwater on his car loan. IN ONE YEAR! Should I worry about him? And what about the bank who lent him the money. They're supposed to know better. Should I worry about them? And finally, should I worry about the clown stupid enough to think a Tesla Plaid was some kind of investment vehicle? One thing I am enjoying is watching all the Tesla fan boys take it in the teeth. No remorse. Bought a Tesla Model Y LR a year ago, and have never had a problem with the car or charging. I charge at home, and have never had to charge at a Supercharger. Not that I couldn’t, but why pay more $$ since it’s cheaper at home. I regularly drive 100 miles or more, but the range of the Model Y is easily 250 miles. That’s not quite enough for L.A. to Las Vegas, but pretty close. One stop along the way, 20 minutes of charging would do it. And, I would not do that on a Holiday weekend to avoid any crowds at the Superchargers. Fuel savings is the biggest reason for driving an EV. That L.A. to Las Vegas trip would cost me less then $20 at home charging rates. Supercharing costs more of course, but still cheaper than gas.

But what you're not mentioning is your friend was now trying to sell a used Plaid. Even though Tesla dropped the price 5 grand, he lost 60. And he didn't lose the 60 because Tesla dropped the price, he lost the 60 because a fool and his money are soon departed. Everyone knows the super low resale values of Teslas. Tesla's average a 55-65% drop in value the first 2 years. All EV's are seeing similar deprecation. And why they don't sell at all is then you have to consider a battery replacement for up to 40 grand. And the batteries are programed to go bad. When Tesla says 100k, they mean 100k and not ONE mile more. If the battery actually goes bad, it'll explode or start on fire. So they don't go bad at 100k, they just shut off. He didn't have to get rid of the car and take the loss, unless he did. Do I really have to explain this? NO EV has any resale value when the price of a replacement battery now comes into play. And it's showing. I know a guy with a 2 year old Mach E and he can't give it away. Even for half price. What does the Plaid battery cost? 20,000 dollars or more? 40 installed? In a car worth 60? And installed by who? We don't have a Tesla dealer anywhere near us, and we're hardly in the sticks. And my understanding is Tesla wants 10 thousand dollars up front to even check it. Even hybrid battery replacements are in the multiple thousands of dollars. Best to stay away from that crap. How do we even dispose of these cars? You're NOT throwing them into a land fill or stacking them up in a junk yard. Any one of them could combust at any time. They're going to have to disassemble every junk car. That's ludicrous. Pray they don't rust.

Never mind the inconvenience involved in charging. The difference of 20K in price between an ICE and an EV should be a deal killer for anyone with an ounce of sense. Other than California, you can buy about 5500 gallons of gas for the difference. If you buy a car that gets 30 MPG like my VW Arteon, you can drive 165000 miles before hitting the breakeven point, assuming that charging is free. Of course it isn't, so an EV will never recover the added cost during its lifetime. That's before figuring the added cost of insurance and the cost of replacing the battery.

I paid $31k for our bolt EUV brand new last year. Heated and ventilated seats and heated steering wheel apply car play . Pretty much all you need in a car The gas savings have been fantastic especially when it is $6 a gallon here in LA. There are very few gas vehicles new that are $20k cheaper. We pay $150 a month to fuel the Bolt. Equivalent gas expenditure would be at least 3x. Plus my wife loves not having to go to the gas station as she hates the gasoline smell. I like it because she doesn't have to take my 2 kids with her to the gas station and take a risk however small. I wish people would stop using $50k as the avg EV price. It's not that expensive. Lucky should know better since he's an actual auto dealer. Nobody is paying $50k for a Nissan leaf or Chevy bolt. Anyone that uses those figures are intentionally misleading or flat out ignorant. I just did a quick search and a 2023 Nissan leaf sv plus with only 1200 miles is $25k. 226 mile range. No other gas car in that price range will save you that much money on fuel. 1 owner no accidents. There are cheaper ones for $15k only a couple years old. Do some research before hating on EVs. They are great vehicles for around town runabouts. I prefer a plugin hybrid so I get the benefits of EV and the gas engine when I want to go on longer trips. As a prior 5 year Tesla Model 3 owner with over 100k miles. I agree with almost all of these points. I got rear ended and Tesla was totaled. Fortunately I got over 10k what the car was worth due to good gap coverage. I went back to an ICE vehicle (hybrid) and am very satisfied.
    Tesla Ownership Positives
    - Remote update system. Despite a few poor thought out ones, these updates have kept the car feeling fresh and new despite it's aging tech.
    - Dog mode and the app in general. Mostly reliable and quick.
    - Built in security system with Sentry. As well as built in dashcam. This actually came into play when the car was totaled.
    - When bought, was difficult to get that level of acceleration at that price.
    - It was an incredibly enjoyable car to take around town. I had the Performance and the acceleration never really got old. I can see myself with another in the future but ONLY as an additional vehicle.
    - The mobile technicians were great, and the few times I used it, it was efficiently and quickly completed. Although parts and labor are pricey with this. Had to replace the left headlight twice. It broke again but luckily was totaled Before I replaced it.
    Negatives
    - Very poor customer service. Just in general, for any metric when measured against traditional automakers.
    - No loaner program and the few times they had my car I got uber credits. Great for someone solo I'm sure, but horrible for a single dad with a son and multiple dogs and cats.
    - Long wait times for much needed service. Even for mobile technicians.
    - RANGE ANXIETY!!! It was fine in the beginning, but after taking several road trips and seeing the hours added, not too mention all the planning required, I got sick of it. Even around town this can be an issue.
    - This EV ate tires. 20k avg is the norm for a set, even with proper balance and rotation. It's the weight and torque I know. However, it isn't something that people tend to think about when purchasing these vehicles.
    - Autopilot got worse and worse with each update to the point I did not trust using it anymore and it became a massive liability. On a trip to Austin I experience 6 separate phantom braking events. These became more common and I ended up never using it after that. The FSD I paid for was laughably bad. Like a drunk teenager behind the wheel. It'll get you there, but you may cause a few accidents along the way.
    - Road noise under 50. A-OK. Road noise above that tends to be really bothersome, especially at highway speeds. It's improved I'm sure, but my 2018 felt like it pumped IN outside noise. Even dropping to 18" did little to alleviate this.
    - Also, when driving at or above regular highway speeds, the range dips dramatically. This often isn't mentioned up front. There are a lot of things most buyers may not know prior to purchasing an EV.
I'm sure there are others I'm not mentioning but you get the gist. Happy now with my vehicle and no more range anxiety.

I have a Tesla model Y since March 2023 with 8,600 miles, and I am thinking about going back to gas vehicle (possibly a Toyota Rav 4 hybrid) next year when I get the $7500 credit back from taxes. It's fun to drive and I like the one pedal driving but range is low. On a recent charge fill up I only got 210 miles real world on a 5-90% charge which was a mix of city and highway driving with 80 miles of a bicycle on a rear hitch rack. The range is not very good and the charge times take too long. The vampire drain is quite annoying too with Tesla saying an average of 1% a day is normal. That would be a 30% battery drain per month. My old 2014 Volkswagen Jetta GLI didn't lose any range by just sitting and could still easily get over 300 miles on a tank of fuel with a bicycle on a rear tray rack. Also gas filling didn't take any longer than a few minutes to fill to full. It's also quite annoying with EV's that your not supposed to fill to 100% with every charge which is ridiculous and you lose an average of 1% of range per year and the battery capacity. My dad has my old 1994 Acura Integra with 300,00 miles and it still runs fine. We need solid state batteries with cheaper replacement costs and fast charge times equal to gas cars to make electric cars more desirable.

Lucky Lopez : I ordered a Cadillac Lyriq all-wheel-drive back in May 2022.
It was supposed to be a 2023 model and I expected that I would have it before December 2022.
GM canceled my 2023 order and forced me into the 2024 model year.
Even though the 2024 had a few more options that the 2023 did not have, there was also a $7000 price increase that I’ve noticed based on the equipment that I normally would’ve gotten in my 2023.
The main features that people want when they buy a Lyriq are super cruise, heated/cooled/massage seats, and the premium speaker system with speakers in the headrest. That’s what we were initially introduced to, and initially paid money towards.
GM introduced cheap trims such as the tech and level 1 trim, which do not have supercruise, heated/cold/massage seats, or the premium speaker system. The models also don’t have ambient lighting.
Right now Cadillac has lots of low level trims sitting on the lot.
Here we are in November 2023 and I’m still waiting for my car. I was told that I would have my car “around three weeks from now”, but that was five weeks ago.
If I could get a Mercedes S500 for a little less than $90,000, I would probably give up my order with Cadillac and get the Mercedes instead. The BMW i7 is also a possible choice but I’m not as comfortable in it as I am with the Mercedes S class. I also can’t find either car in silver.
Anyone else would have simply walked away from their allocation.

I currently do not charge my car at a charge station. I only charge at home. I also do not travel farther than 50% of the range so I can drive back without stopping somewhere. I love my EV. I also have 3 other ICE cars that are for long distance. I try doing Long distance once with my Tesla in 2015 and never again. I also dont drive a Tesla EV anymore.
I am currently driving an Audi Efron Q8. I really do like it. More comfortable than my Panamera that cost 3x the amount. The trick to EV is charge at home and only do local driving with it. Charge stations take too long for my taste. The need to punch in my info is also annoying AF.

Everything you said i told friends and family when these first came out and they didnt believe me. When you introduce new technology you cannot just build it and let it go into the world.
These things need a whole logistics network and a bunch of freshly trained technicians for fixing cars and charging stations. Tesla and and other car companies want to make technology without footing the bill for investing heavily in infrastructure to support it.

Guys I worked in a coal fired power plant for 12 years. Quite large too. 4 units each kicking out 800 megawatts gross, 750 net (each unit took 50mw to run). In 2006 or so each unit got bumped up on net and gross by 50 due to installation of new pollution controls. Now I'm only an electrician, but now work at a major assembly plant in Detroit. Now I'm not an engineer by a longshot, but with all that being said, I do not understand how this will work on the scale they are asking. We are decommissioning our baseload plants at a fast pace. The company I worked for had 11 plants in the system. 10 coal, 1 nuclear. They're down to 4 including the nuke. In their place, wind and solar farms, which sorry, but they are not nearly as reliable as baseload plants. They're gonna tell you it's the grid, but there's a lack of reliable megawatts. The plant I worked at has it's first 2 units scheduled for decommission in 2025, the other 2 by 2035 if not sooner. The first 2 units weren't supposed to come offline until 2040. I really hope I'm reaching on my theory, but seeing what I've seen firsthand, I just don't see this happening. At least not in the time they're shooting for. Oh, in my home state of Michigan, I just read they're restarting a reactor that had been decommissioned a few years ago. Godspeed out there folks.

12:49 My neighbor is on his third BMW i3 lease. It's their second car (other car is a gasser), with an in-home charger it's great. A few times a year I drive them to the airport. One pedal driving is effortless. Just the convenience of not going to the gas station is awesome. For a one-car household a plug-in hybrid would be ideal. Let's say 100 mile battery and the rest ICE. That way the vehicle isnt too heavy, the battery covers most of the daily driving, and you are never stranded in the event of no chargers available, or a power outage (you can have a few cans of gas ready prior to the event).

Another point that I don't see many pointing out, is that almost every other week there is a new announcement about a new tech, or a manufacturing development that will lower the price of the battery, increase the range, increase the charging speed etc. If I'm buying a new EV why would I buy one today if in a few months there will be a new version of the car that it's supposed to be much better. It's kind of the same reason for not buying a ice car today, there is the expectation for prices to go lower, so unless I really need one today I will push the buy for a later time.
