My buddy and I have put a lot of time into (the good half of) that Gahanna rink. Sweeping, pulling weeds, zip tying the netting. I'm glad to see you calling attention to it because it's a FAR cry away from the rink I learned to play roller hockey on 20 years ago!

Hats off to the city of Columbus and the Blue Jackets… that is amazing that they have so many hockey opportunities throughout the city to help grow the game. Every nhl team should start doing this. I’m from Buffalo and I can’t name one park that has this
Nob Hill and Stiglmeier Park in Cheektowaga both have rinks. I grew up in Cheektowaga, GO SABRES!

@@Constitutionalist76 if they used their space properly. All photos online show the rink as a banquet hall or a set of pickle ball courts. Plus I think they are also starting a youth box lacrosse league there too. Hopefully they bring out the nets and let the public play

Hey Nasher, I remember when I met you at the Thomas Knox rink. Best experience of my life, you are the coolest and nicest guy ever, thanks for everything you do!
Dude, this is super cool. I love that you did this and what a great idea. Nice to see that you realize how fortunate you are with all of those outdoor public street hockey rinks. I live near Boston which as you know is a huge hockey town and I can only think of one rink that is near me and Boston which pales in comparison to your seven. And the fact that the Blue Jackets built one of those rinks is amazing. I feel like I should be writing the Bruins about this.
This dude is honestly insane. He is the reason why I started playing hockey and made my first house league just a few weeks ago after non stop practice so I just wanna thank Nasher for inspiring me. That and the nhl videos also made me start playing the games and I ended up loving them. Keep the content up cause it’s absolutely amazing dude thanks.
As a kid who grew up in Buffalo, I loved having hockey culture engrained in everything we did. I grew up down the street from an outdoor rink and loved playing there, then started playing pond hockey when I got skates and eventually played organized team. This video took me back. Thanks Nasher!

I live in Scotland where hockey is extremely niche. I would love if we had more places like this because it’s pretty hard for kids here to get out and play anywhere and improve other than on the ice which means they’re really only getting on once or twice a week. When I was a kid we used to play round the back of the ice rink in the car park and set up a couple wooden pallets as goals but we’d always get moved from there. Same with tennis and basketball courts which aren’t really great for playing hockey on anyway. I think having some rinks like this set up would be a great idea but unfortunately I could see them getting vandalised quite quickly as well.
