Docklands, also known as Melbourne Docklands, is an inner-city suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 2 km (1.2 mi) west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Melbourne local government area. Primarily a waterfront area centred on the banks of the Yarra River, it is bounded by Wurundjeri Way and the Charles Grimes Bridge to the east, CityLink to the west and Lorimer Street across the Yarra to the south. Docklands is a modern harbour development dominated by high-rises and the colourful Melbourne Star Observation Wheel, and popular for its shopping and waterside dining. The area's pedestrian plazas are adorned with public murals, sculpture and light displays. Families head to concerts and sports at Marvel Stadium.

Travel Melbourne you said about Docklands that it has the "colourful Melbourne Star Observation Wheel" and it is "popular for its shopping and waterside dining". The Melbourne Star has been closed for a few years, and many restaurants are shut. It's known colloquialy as Wastelands.

I came from a video on Chinese Social Media where Chinese people were insulting Melbourne claiming it was a shthole comparing to Chinese cities. I wanted to see for myself whether or not that was true. Melbourne is beautiful.

As a Melbournian, I think Docklands is a soulless part of town, it's all apartments and corporate buildings, there's no appeal for the average person. No matter how it's tarted up, it's still a bland and unattractive part of town. It desperately needs some mojo or pizzaz eg theatres, museums, buskers, street art, colour...I'm sorry for being so critical

As you may know, Docklands has so much wasted potential because it was sold to developers and left in their hands to create.
Clearly not done in the best interest of people, and entirely to maximise profits. What a waste of what could have been.
