North Melbourne vs Essendon 2014 deserves an honourable mention. First Final I ever went to and even though my Bombers basically threw the game away after half-time. The quality and the atmosphere from both teams was outstanding and those last 2 minutes were simply jaw dropping with what Drew Petrie getting those last 2 goals that won North Melbourne the match and ended a then 7 year run of not winning a Final since the 07 Semi-Final against Hawthorn. Its also the closet Final the Bombers had since 04. Every single one other that since then has been a demolition by a average of 50-55 points.
After that win against the Bulldogs, West Coast then had to go back to Melbourne for a "home final" to play Carlton who had finished a position lower than West Coast on the ladder and had just been belted by Brisbane in QLD in the first week of the finals. Thank God the AFL changed the finals system after that debacle.
Now they need to change the ridiculous rule that states that the MCG becomes the home ground for every Victorian club once the finals begin. That's the reason why St. Kilda had to play the Giants there on the weekend instead of at Docklands, because it was free and available. It's the same reason why Geelong have had to play all but one of their home finals at the MCG throughout the years as well. And when Geelong did get to play their one and only home final at The Cattery it didn't occur because the opponent was Fremantle. It occurred because every other home finalist in Week 1 of the 2013 finals was a Victorian team. Therefore it wouldn't have been possible to have played 4 matches over 3 days at the MCG. In that instance either Docklands or The Cattery can be used for a Victorian team to host a final.
Agreement with the MCC that a game at the MCG would be played every week of the finals. Had nothing to do with the finals system. This result also lead to arguably the greatest Prelim ever played with Carlton knocking off Essendon in 99
@@darrenmiles-morland8038 Absolutely ludicrous that Marvel Stadium doesn't get used in Finals when the 1 game that was there 16 years ago was easily one of if not the greatest Elimination Final of all time between Hawthorn and Adelaide and its not like a small Stadium either when its holds 50 plus thousand capacity.
@@taliamason7986It's odd that the Hawthorn v Adelaide final didn't get played at the MCG then, especially when you consider that the MCG is Hawthorn's home ground. Also, there were only 3 teams from Victoria hosting finals in Week 1 of the finals that year, because Port Adelaide hosted West Coast at Football Park. If the current MCG contractual agreement existed at the time, then the Hawthorn v Adelaide final should have gotten played there. It should only have gotten played at Docklands if 3 other finals were already being played at the MCG. I'm not really sure how that happened.
Very unlike Cornes to say a port player tackling someone totally on the mans shoulder was contentious. His biased towards Port Adelaide Is unyielding and he has a implicit biased against umpires decisions against Port Adelaide to the point of mania .

St kilda vs geelong in 2010, the infamous "you just lost us the game"
"Scott Cummings with 4 touches and about 6 goals......" classic TJ!
That was the year that Cummings won the Coleman Medal, for kicking the most goals, and didn't get picked in the All Australian team.

Potentially cost Essendon a flag
Would've liked to see Firzroy's thrilling win over Sydney make this list
That Mick O celebration is my favourite ever
All things considered, it was a pretty impressive effort by King. He was about 65 metres out and landed about a metre out from goal with a drop punt.
woah
65 out and kick it 64. fail....haha
Not so impressive going back to take a near impossible shot and run down the clock when there are seconds remaining
2011 prelim pies hawks final 3 minutes
Llordo was focusing on Week 1 only. Maybe he'll talk about that match on Preliminary Final weekend.
Sheeds should have picked up a few and eaten them lol
Up Llordo
Why was that match played between the hawks and crows at Marvel if it was a final??
i think they were tied to a deal with the then new docklands stadium
@@aussieintexas61 The Stadium was 7 years old at that point under the name of the Telstra Dome. It was far from new.
