I don’t think they pulled the performance because of Chris, they wouldn’t of given him the spot in the first place. They probably canceled it because Chris wanted to do a tribute to Michael Jackson. Chris has enough respect to say that he wouldn’t even be where he is without Michael so he’s using his opportunity to shine on the 40th anniversary….. respect, which the AMA’s doesn’t have.
