EDIT: oh, also, at one point some demon thing turns him into a half manta ray hybrid, at this point he's already turned himself back into a human, but i think in the injustice games at this point he's still a half manta ray thing, which is why the other black manta was like "LETS SEE IF IT KEEPS YOU ALIVE" because, they'd need water to breathe. that also explains the water shooty move, and why he's got those pipes running down where his neck is.

Well what i know about Manta is that he can control sharks, (there robot sharks) an he does villain stuff underwater, but he's one of those payed villains, if you want Manta to do something for you, you have to pay him or he don't do nothing for you. Basically a kid grew up in Boston but he got kidnapped and was forced to work on a ship and he was sexually abused. Then, he saw aquaman and tried signaling him but aquaman did not see him. So the kid killed one of the tormentors. He hated aquaman and the sea. And grew up to become black mantis the archenemy of aquaman

Black Manta was a mercenary and treasure hunter who worked alongside his father. He was hired by Stephen Shin to collect the blood of Arthur Curry in an effort to prove that he was actually an Atlantean. Curry was defended by his father, Thomas Curry, and in the ensuing fight Curry’s father died of a heart attack. Enraged, Curry tracked him down and snuck onto his boat in the middle of the night. He killed Manta’s father, believing him to be Manta himself. Manta abandoned his career as a treasure hunter to seek his revenge against Aquaman.

Manta begins to engage in an escalating series of attacks on Aquaman and Atlantis. At the same time Aqualad and Aquagirl begin to work to dismantle some of his criminal operations. Following the kidnapping of Mera and Aquababy, he fights and defeats Aquaman, turning him over to King Karshon. In return he receives information about the City of Lost Tribes, which he easily conquers. Later, he places Aquababy in a chamber where he will slowly suffocate to death unless Aquaman and Aqualad fight to the death. They do so, but Aquababy dies regardless. Aquaman hunts down and defeats Black Manta, nearly killing him, but decides to spare his life, turning him over to the authorities instead.

information - Black Manta is an enemy to Aquaman and The Others.
As a young adult, he lived with his father on a houseboat, earning some reputation as a diver and a treasure hunter. He was contracted by Doctor Stephen Shin to procure a sample of Arthur Curry's blood to prove that the young man was an Atlantean. During the encounter, Arthur's father, Thomas, came to his son's defense and suffered a heart attack. Thomas died three days later, and Arthur swore revenge. On the day of Thomas' funeral, Arthur stormed the boat belonging to the man he deemed responsible for his father's death. In the rain and darkness, Arthur murdered the diver's father, on the assumption that they were the killer. Out of vengeance, the diver crafted weapons and armor, and went hunting. When the Atlantean became a publicly-known hero as Aquaman, he became Black Manta.
