  • Discharge planning is key to taking care of any patient in the hospital, whether you're a medical student, resident, or attending. Knowing your discharge destinations will put you ahead of the game! I really underestimated how important this topic was and didn't learn the key details until I was a second year resident. Watch this video to learn the basics of discharge destinations and impress your team by knowing where your patient needs to go after discharge.

    ABOUT ME:
I'm Monica, an Internal Medicine attending living in Los Angeles. I'm here to provide high-yield videos for medical students and residents. My favorite topics include how to succeed on clinical rotations, clinical skills, and some good old pathophysiology! I'm also obsessed with my cats and fitness, but I think there are enough cat and fitness videos out there...

@@MonicaJeong please keep making these. Your channel is so underrated. You cover all the “unspoken” topics, the topics that actually need to be covered because nobody else covers them.
If you have any tips for a quiet/introvert to stand out, please share!

@@ATA-wi2lh I will! The goal is to cover topics that no one seems to have time to teach while on the job lol. Thanks so much for watching!

It’s the hospital goal to push people out as fast as possible. It’s usually premature and results in an unsafe discharge and high rate of rapid re-hospitalizations.

Insurance is always considered when looking at discharge destinations. Thankfully the case manager in the hospital will typically help sort through any issues!
