yo quick tip for scanning! if you want to avoid newton rings and dont have ANR glass, you can flip the negative upside down so the bent side is going up and not down against the scanner glass, and then when you get the scan into lightroom, just flip it horizontally so it isnt backwards. had some issues with bent negatives and this seems to help a lot. definitely best to get the glass, but the method works too. great video though!
It is so great to see so many comments about people using film cameras, I use digital myself but I love photography as a whole and I am glad there are so many people keeping all aspects of photography alive.
My problem is that film recipe did not match in the slightest. To match you have to throw on a diffusion filter and make sure that your greens lean in. Otherwise just like we saw it's a blue mess.
I wonder why the jpeg limitation? I would figure out the best practical scanner resolution and limit the digital camera to that resolution in raw. Then I would scan and shoot raw for a better comparison for post shoot workflows.
Yooo film is just something else.... just straight up vibes! It's dope to see the comparisons, film will always have it's place in photography it can't be duplicated without like uber editing hahaha sometimes digital gotta take that L or how do we say...... FATALITY haha😂👌🏾
The limiting rules reveal why digital is so much better for the average shooter. The expense of film alone is a huge barrier to someone who wants to learn by shooting a lot.
yup digital is better because that's the point of digital imo: to be very flexible. you can make digital look like film very easily but the other way around will cost you a lot
I'm viewing this video 2 years after it was posted, so I'm late to the party. But I haven't read any of the comments so as not to contaminate my thoughts on this comparison. So, here goes. To my eyes, the visual quality of the shots - NOT the composition, but just the tonal and contrast quality - from the film camera blew away the shots from the digital body. The skin, the coat, and the whole "look and feel" of the film shots appeared much more natural looking than the digital shots. Thanks for a very informative video.
Digital raw processing = film development. If you want to use JPG 'straight out of the camera' then use the film ''straight out of the camera'. Don't develop or scan the film and see how the compare works.
I really want to return to film photography . Unfortunately film photography seems to have nearly been discarded in India ,in all of the country there are just 3-4 shops selling and developing films that too at exorbitant prices
While a really cool video, not sure this did much justice to the Fuji. That recipe you're using isn't even designed around the GFX sensor, which is quite different to the X-Trans sensor.
To be fair, the Cinestill 800T recipe for Fuji is the worst emulation you can try using. It looks nothing like Cinestill 800T nor it looks any good on its own,so definitely Fuji GFX was on a huge disadvantage in this one. In generl recipes don't work as good as people make them to sound, I feel like the people that are into them are people that don't shoot film to begin with or are shooting every now and then, otherwise it doesn't make any sense how people are still using them.
@@andrewchau6334 yeah she was focused ha those limitations really did level the playing field. Goes to say it's better to take your time if you can! That's why I appreciate film
i feel like limiting the fuji to basically shoot the same way as the bronica effectively makes this test irrelevant? like wouldnt the whole point of comparing them be to look at how the pros/cons of both mediums weigh up? the film might be less convenient to work with, but its so hard to beat the filmic image quality. conversely, the fuji might be way more convenient to use but does that ease-of-use offset the fact that its still a digital image for someone who is used to the analog work flow? edit after watching the video: i think the fuji would have benefitted greatly from josh being able to review photos and mess with settings. i did not like any of the exterior shots
Hey, so as a photographer, as a member of the WW photography community I really wish that after 10 years of my participation in this culture I would stop seeing the videos like this. Why? Because it continues to build the drift among the tools, emphasis on word TOOLS, which we as photographers use. Different kinds of mediums are used for different things, they have their own pros and con, different possibilities and lastly DIFFERENT WORKFLOWS. It is completely dumb idea to compare them with "limitations". WHY? If only you had gone with at least one of them to the fullest of their potential.......... shoot the film and then just scan it? What a freaking waist of the material. Shoot with digital rig worth thousand dollars for only jpegs if it's not even build for it? Daaaaamn man 🙈the context of selling point of the gear is soooo of the mark.

Didn’t Ivy totally kill it or what?
Indeed she did!
She kills her husband 4L 🔥🔥
Love that you guys giving some attention to the Bronica EtrS.. so underated medium format film camera that doesn't get enough coverage.
I totally agree
It is so great to see so many comments about people using film cameras, I use digital myself but I love photography as a whole and I am glad there are so many people keeping all aspects of photography alive.
Love this comment
The film has so much more character (and perhaps the compositions were better too) than the digital camera! Great comparison!
The Pause on the Moment channel killed meeeeeeeeee
Nice video guys! I love seeing digital camera vs film camera vs smartphone camera comparisons.
You can really tell the exposure/WB preview was off, not only with the roof photo, but also with how cool all the gfx photos were
Cool temperature (K) lol

Ayyyyyy lives this one
you all are having so much fun!

Lol because the recipes only apply to jpgs
The detail that you are a married couple makes is noticeable in the way the photos indeed look like from a team. Very entertaining comparison : )
The mood!!! Love it!

The GFX does not play around, hot DAMN!
fun comparison setting ❤️

Lovely equipment.🎄
What is the song playing starting around 2:30? Love that!! Great video and you two are perfect together!!!
BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome video, love Cinestill 800T! I’d love to see a comparison of Fuji XT4 vs. new Sony A7iv given they share a lot of features.
Thanks for this comparison as own both. Were you using the aperture priority meter in the AE Prism ll?
Yassss Bronica slaps. Love the AEIII metered prism too 🤘love the shots
this was a dope vid yall!
Ivony made some great photos!!!
Nikon 9000 with the Staphen Schraf holds. Newton rings were the bane of my existence forever.
Imagine if that Fuji had the same size sensor as the film on the Bronica! I'd sell a kidney to get one!
What a fun competition 😄
The Bronica is so sublime
Facts
I really liked the digital vs film , it would be cool if you guys switched and did 1 “roll” each digital and film .
That's a great idea!
Good job Ivy! 😀
Anymore info on that coworking space?
This is sick! Haven't seen Joshua in years, but he always brings some good vibes to his projects. Loved the video!

NEWTON RINGS!!!
Cringe
Hii
Did you guys Shipping camera to India ?
would love to see a more in depth comparison where there are no limitations on digital, just out of camera shots.
Years of growth
YASSSS!!! We will for SURE have another Battle! This was too fun! :D
The Bronica has so much more character straight out of the camera, it would take some work to get anything like that out of the digital stills.
Digital raw processing = film development. If you want to use JPG 'straight out of the camera' then use the film ''straight out of the camera'. Don't develop or scan the film and see how the compare works.
I'm just curious. Who says ASA today, I bet every American says iso.
Maaan I want to try this challenge now😂one question: Where’s that film sim recipe tho👀
I just put in the description!
Nice bro
film alllll day
6:03 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAA
I really want to return to film photography . Unfortunately film photography seems to have nearly been discarded in India ,in all of the country there are just 3-4 shops selling and developing films that too at exorbitant prices
If you can get your hands on some cheap bnw film, developing is super easy with a dev tank kit and some Cinestill DF96 monobath.
Great and entertaining shootout
♥️

There’s an aesthetic to film that digital sensors cannot replicate
thank god for editing software and filters
I shoot digital cause it's cheap and convenient. I won't ever shoot film. That said, film tones are just bomb!
The film or sensor only captures (or doesn't capture) the light. Shoot raw and post-process.
What's the point of this compression if you don't edit the digital? the whole point of medium format is the flexibility you have in post.

Fatality 😂😂😂
You should be getting the exposure right in camera anyways.
I think you need to retry this but with the Portra 400 fujixweekly recipe. Cinestill feels very biased towards film imo.
I want a rematch!
She really crushed you this time. Maybe next time! Appreciate your calm and relaxing content though!

At 4:58 did the negative get stuck to the mouse? Looks like it’s flopping everywhere on the table 😅
Great video tho! Film forever ♾
Yoooo LOL good eye haha I didn't even see that

Great video! You guys should review the Vivo X70 pro plus as well. It is very promising!
Did the monthly ad revenue giveaways stop guys?
bro nothing beats film
Shalom
Women power also and film
U should have let her shoot with both
Or u
But ya she’s fire
U guys rock
awww y'all Cute
Film clearly won
