That little finger gaurd they put in the hopper i took out immediatly. Its basically there if you have little ones in the house that might play around with it. But if no little ones in the vacinity or out of their range, i suggest taking it out.
I was torn between the lagom mini, the varia vs3, Eureka Specialita and the niche for espresso only. I went for the niche because of workflow, faster grinding, easier dialing in and a motor that does not sound like its struggling to grind. Very happy with the niche but I think the lagom mini would have been good as well.
Great review! I didn't understand you grind size settings in the video. 5 - turkish 20 - espresso 40 - aero press 55 - pour over etc etc option-o recommends 0,5 revolution (from 0) for espresso, 1,2 - 1,5 rev for pour over. Can you relate (or recommend) all the grind sizes to lagom mini settings?
Yes, correct - so Option-O refer to revolutions of the Hopper. There are 50 markings to the full revolution - which almost matches up with what I said - 20 markings for esrpesso (not 25 - but close) and again PourOver they say 1.2 - and I say 55+ which is one full rotation and a little more 👌
I am concerned with stalling, I have these light roasted beans from Edwin Norena and a 1zpresso X-ultra can barely grind albeit only in short choppy movements @@AlternativeBrewing
hmmm, staling shouldn't be too much of an issue - I believe they have fixed this. Otherwise , check out the Varia VS3 gen2. These are equally great grinder! @@sammyrabbat384
I’d always pick an automatic over Manual 🙌 as long as that doesn’t go against any preferences. And if comparing the EVO Hybrid to the L-Mini, I would still say the L-Mini provides a better all round experience.
@AlternativeBrewing I haven't heard anybody discussing the duty cycle but it looks like the Baratza could actually be used as a batch brew grinder where this one isn't supposed to grind that much coffee all at once according to the manufacturer. I believe they say it's only rated for a couple shots of espresso per day? Is that different in Australia where you have a different voltage than we have in the United States? I ended up going with the niche zero so I wouldn't have to worry about any of this stuff but now I'm still really curious in case I ever do have an issue and now I have friends asking for my input haha😅
Thoughts on this as an espresso only grinder to replace a hand grinder. Two shots at a time, three times a day. Also, is the power brick 110-240v @ 50-60 hz. Like a laptop brick? Looking for something I can use both in the EU and USA for long stays that isn't a manual grinder. Thanks for the upload, as always. Edit: Answered my own question by reading their website. Yeah, its 110-240v rating. Just need the little end adapter to make sure it'll fit in the outlet. Again, like a laptop. Still curious if it'll make a good espresso only grinder.
It is the duty cycle that limits its capacity to grind daily. Not designed for commercial use; it should not be used for more than 6 minutes continuously, within a 10 minute duration - and must rest for 30 minutes if done so.
I have had my Lago Mini for 6 months now. Checks all the boxes for me. Great build quality. Minimalist design = unobtrusive (small form factor) & easy to use. Step-less adjustment, will grinder finer than one would ever need and very consistent. Easy to clean. Tried with at least 8 different beans from different roasters light to medium roast. Capable of making full bodied or bright espresso shots. I make around 2 to 3 espressos a day max and I am rarely in a rush when making coffee. Paired with a Flair 58 with SEP, the value is hard to beat. 😊
What setting do you have for Espresso? The manual states 0.8 turn from fully closed, but the video above says only 20 dots from closed which is 0.2 turn from fully closed.
@@John_Doe_6932 Varies from coffee to coffee. Blue Bottle Honduras Sta. Barbara Half turn, plus 5 to 6 clicks. Onyx Tropical Weather Half turn plus 3 clicks. I refer to each notch or dot as a "click."
Comparison with the VS3? Which is quieter, grinds better, has a better build, etc. I brew (occasional) Turkish, Moka and Aeropress, so both will fit. Size and speed is not an issue for me either way. Typical weekday loads will be one or two 20/30g doses to weekends which will be two to four 20/30g doses. I’m especially interested to know about the gen 2 VS3, as it’s supposed to now have an all metal gearbox, instead of plastic, which should (hopefully) solve its early reliability issues. Along with any (if any) improvements with the latest burr sets. Is worth noting, the VS3 is quite a bit cheaper, here in Canada, than the Mini: $400CAD vs $550CAD.
My daily driver is a Eurika Oro SDG for espresso. It’s great for espresso, but too many fines for pour over! I just ordered the Lagom Mini. I really hope this is great for pour over, or at least better than the Eurika Oro 🙏🏼. Otherwise its Groundhogs day all over 🦫.. Ive said it before but your channel always does the best reviews! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼☕️

Sweet cute little grinder, fun review
Thank you 🤗
The Lagos Mini + huge power supply kit.

Brilliant review Josh!
A comparison with the new VS3 is a must!
Nicely made video
Glad you liked it
Almost bought one of these a while back! Nice video. 👍🏼
Thanks! 👍
I wish there was an option to have numbers on the dial. I think I would have to add some masking tape to mark my grind settings.
Yeah 100% that's too easy to do
If you had to choose between lagom mini and a c60, what would you choose?
This 100%. Lagom Mini over C60 all the way. Automatic over hand grinder in most comparison.

Is worth the additional cost over the Baratza Encore ESP?
yes. No doubt it is. Better burrs, better build.

Would you trade it for a Niche Zero for (single origin mostly) espressos in terms of shot clarity, fruitiness?
This or the Varia VS3 over the Niche all day. Or go even further with the DF64 for clarity and flavour separation, less body
Great review! Would love to see a P64 one next!
Noted!
Is there any difference between the first generation and this one?
Not a huge difference mostly in the motor and durability
Have you compared to the Mischief mini C40. Seems to be exactly the same except with steps. 🤔 At ~$150 USD … definitely worth a look.

why isit recommended to grind only a few times a day?

it looks good but it is too expensive for a mini grinder
