This is my favourite Abba song. It is so ethereal. I always think of a red lantern lit quiet alley way or street at Christmas, a woman at the end of her life looking down out of an upstairs window as the fire coals crack, looking out as children plays below in the softly falling snow. And the angel a past love that never was or could be.
Like an angel singing in my ear... FRIDA❤️! The song describes the passage from this world to another...(death), in first person. Someone who dies alone, but seemingly at peace with his own life... Wonderful song👌 Take care, guys ✌️ Love ❤️ from Chile 🇨🇱🤗👍
Unexpectedly, Madonna found a great interest in this track that even made her decide to do a cover with William Orbit as a producer.Strangely enough punk diva Nina Hagen did the same in an early '00s tribute and also often played this while touring. It' was a grower for me when i was a teen.I fistly 'rejected' it back then but found my self crying while listening to it some days later on.It's got something...Little did i know, that closer would have been Abba's last song ever in a studio album for nealy 4 decades. That clock 'tik 'in' sound was like a prophecy ...
This song means more to me now as I begin to enter the twilight of my own life. The ticking clock signifying the passing of time. The singer is reflecting on life both it's it's best and more disappointing moments. The darker, more wintry feel to this song is a fantastic compliment to the album cover. Both are steeped in spiritual images. I think this was the perfect ending to a fantastic album. This song is high in my catalog of theirs. And there is still another song or two that are coming in your journey that rank high up there for me. Their eighties catalog isn't quite done yet.
"Like An Angel Passing Through My Room" Long awaited darkness falls Casting shadows on the walls In the twilight hour I am alone Sitting near the fireplace, dying embers warm my face In this peaceful solitude All the outside world subdued Everything comes back to me again In the gloom Like an angel passing through my room Half awake and half in dreams Seeing long forgotten scenes So the present runs into the past Now and then become entwined, playing games within my mind Like the embers as they die Love was one prolonged good-bye And it all comes back to me tonight In the gloom Like an angel passing through my room I close my eyes And my twilight images go by All too soon Like an angel passing through my room
I believe that only Frida and Benny, newly divorced, were in the studio recording it, and it is the only song by ABBA that only contains the voice of wone of the two great vocalists of the group. It's a great, poetic and reflective song. Beautiful oh so beautiful. A new ABBA emerging out of ABBA just before the end, beautful but sad.
Disillusion might be an Agnetha vocal song only and according to some Agnetha (heavily pregnant then) isn't on Me And Bobby and Bobby's Brother either...
Great last song of a serious mature album. Madonna did a cover from this song (not bad at all). They did release a series of different versions of this song in one track on the deluxe album of the Visitors. Very interesting how much versions they made before choosing this one. You should listen to this track (almost 15 min or something!)
Yes indeed,Well That Demo track is a MUST heard! It's 9 minutes (medley style with diverse takes and versions )Shows the band's professionalism and hard working creativity till they decide which was the perfect result each time before the release.

This is the version they had decided to release in the LP's tracklist. In the demo medley there' are also recorded takes with all of them singing plus some more revealed versions having Frida alone either with diff. lyrics or with her in a different kind of vocal delivery(more tender and youthful sounded) as opposed to this official version.Frida here sounds like a mature, sophisticated woman 'shadowed' by her sad and kinda gloomy if not painful mood.
There's about 3 different versions of this. They kept pairing it back to this final pass. Does it work? I kind of don't think so. It doesn't really amount to anything or go anywhere. Agnetha thought it was pretty meh. Not one I listen to much.
Honesty... these is one of a few ABBA songs that I don't like so much (5pts) it's only Frida with her great voice, but alone , without chorus .... is like a song for a soloist, not for a group I know that The Visitors album (1981) is experimental, but in these album I prefer other songs, like : Slipping through my fingers One of us , The Visitors I see you in next ABBA vídeo GOD bless you My best regards from Buenos Aires Argentina 🇦🇷 South America
@@rockmybean5650 I see a lot of the younger generation of today so used to bass beat music of today trying to find rhythmic beats that don't exist in ballads. I see plenty of abba reactions to their ballads with people trying to bop along. It seems ingrained in a lot of today's Gen Z's
Frida's voice is incredible!

This is probably my favorite of Frida's Her voice is so angelic.
It's a gorgeous song ❤
Miss you seeing you guys doing ABBA, glad you are back as a team that is beautiful to watch!!!

Heavenly beautiful. 💘
I didn't appreciate it as much when I was younger, but now I do. Like to hear you discuss the music.

Isn’t that the truth. I too am iwell into the later half of my life and songs like this are starting to hit harder.
"Like An Angel Passing Through My Room"
Long awaited darkness falls
Casting shadows on the walls
In the twilight hour I am alone
Sitting near the fireplace, dying embers warm my face
In this peaceful solitude
All the outside world subdued
Everything comes back to me again
In the gloom
Like an angel passing through my room
Half awake and half in dreams
Seeing long forgotten scenes
So the present runs into the past
Now and then become entwined, playing games within my mind
Like the embers as they die
Love was one prolonged good-bye
And it all comes back to me tonight
In the gloom
Like an angel passing through my room
I close my eyes
And my twilight images go by
All too soon
Like an angel passing through my room

This is like lullaby with music box. Don't think there's isn't style they haven't experimented?

The only song in all their discography in wich only one of the girls sins alone, no Agnetha here, just only the magic of Frida's voice...

@@visitor1982 Nonetheless MABABB is no song with only one vocalist, because Björn and Benny are singing, too.

Why is he bopping his head on such a sad type of ballad song?
He's autistic
