Nic Vincent not necessarily, the 4runner for example sold more units in the past couple years than it did pretty much since its release. Tahoe navigator escalade yukon lexus gx/lx etc are all selling well too. It’s not that we dont like true SUVs anymore, there just arent many options, but the ones that exist are doing just fine.
Out of the ones you named, the 4Runner is the only one I’d consider taking off-road (assuming we’re just talking about current models.) Now all are ok for overlanding. But I like rock crawling in my H3. It’d take a lot of work and money to make a 4Runner a decent crawler. The others wouldn’t cut it at all. I think the Tahoe might be the only one that still can be bought with 4x4? The rest are all wheel drive...which is for on-road handling, not off-roading
Nic Vincent you can get expedition, tahoe, yukon have off road packs that have 4hi and 4 lo. All toyota and lexus body on frame suvs come standard with it. While that may be the case for your personal situation, that’s not my point. My point is that body on frame suvs are selling well, and if hummer was brought back it would sell well too - plus they have the nostalgia factor of the good old days pre-2008 recession.
Jake Stoler I get you. Not trying to start an argument. It makes sense for all of those to have 4wd since they’re pretty much the same as their respective maker’s pick up trucks. And I do agree with your point, they are selling well. I just feel all we really have are trucks and crossovers. The only real SUVs these days are jeeps and 4runners lol just my opinion. I’d like to see the FJ return and for Nissan to get back into the rugged SUV market. In a perfect world, every brand would have a dedicated off-roader 😁
You literally have no clue what you’re talking about. Why are you commenting with zero knowledge? The H3 is 100% proven to be incredibly reliable (many many examples over 200k miles still on the road), good mpg for its class ( 15-18 mpg combined), and no off road rivals except for, specifically, the Rubicon version of the Jeep. Mind you I am referring to the adventure pkg equipped model with the 5 cyl (yes it has a 5 cylinder motor... whaaaaat, I know right! Hurray for knowledge!) . Stick to commenting on whatever you actually have knowledge about please. There’s already enough parrots in the world spewing nonsense that’s fed to them.
It was originally meant to be a military vehicle big and heavy enough to withstand RPGs and 50 cals while also being able to go anywhere. They took off the heavy armour for civilian version but still that sort of thing is not cheap to build.
StealthAssasin 1Day I was thinking the same, GM will bring back a very stylish and extremely unreliable modern electric hummer and it will sell them for exactly 5 years before killing them forever.
An electric off roader would be sweet. Pretty much only tire noise, less likely to scare away animals... plus precise torque application for slow speed maneuvers.
I'm sure it was everyone's childhood lol but now I wouldn't ever have one. "Rojas: (Laughs) Everybody says that, [...] I don’t even own an Xbox. It’s coincidental." "Wired: That’s funny, because Carl Zipfel (director of the Hummer Design Studio) has said everyone who worked on the project plays Halo."
@@TwinShards Not really close. In car land this is like pretty far apart for a vehicle that would fit in the same category especially because the Warthog is an art piece for a game aesthetic and the Hummer is designing around the same limitations every other truck does. The front end is completely different because the Warthog runs on magic. There's no grill, or radiator. The windshield is raked way forward / curved more. There are no skid plates. The whole front end is just one big fender flare because the suspension and tow cables / hooks are made gigantic to show better in game. The back is kinda the same deal. The Warthog looks more like a Meyers Manx in the front because that doesn't have a front motor. The Hummer concept with that almost fastback design is years after the Jeepster concept in the 90's but it has way more in common with what actual trucks are doing. The Warthog stole the asymmetrical rim style from the Hummer though.

Hummer would do well if it came back. The world is more obsessed with SUVs now more than ever.
Jake Stoler crossovers...the world is obsessed with crossovers. True SUVs are nearly dead
The first generation (H1) was badass. The rest were just terrible.
Augusto O.R it’s the real reason the brand fell cars with the same or worse gas mileage sell better today just fine
Definitely not “badass”
The H3 was a nice little offroader if you had all the options on it. Plus it got 'decent' mpg on the highway. The H2 was absolute crap through

The high price tag was originally a part of the lure. It was a status symbol
Nah. It was GMs notoriously atrocious build quality, an issue that continues today.
It was originally meant to be a military vehicle big and heavy enough to withstand RPGs and 50 cals while also being able to go anywhere.
They took off the heavy armour for civilian version but still that sort of thing is not cheap to build.

"Rojas: (Laughs) Everybody says that, [...] I don’t even own an Xbox. It’s coincidental."
"Wired: That’s funny, because Carl Zipfel (director of the Hummer Design Studio) has said everyone who worked on the project plays Halo."
The car looks soooo good!
