Imagine if there was a true hydra. You're going about your business like normal. You've got a small but respectable group of friends, known them practically since birth. One day you wake up with no arms, an open wound in your side, and various patched up injuries all over your body and so is the rest of your, also very confused, differently injured, family. You find that your friends aren't in their nonexistent houses, neither are their streets. The areas you recall are wooded forests with caverns where their houses are supposed to be. You have been tricked by a true hydra. They can create memories of people who didn't exist in people's minds. They use it to get close enough to eat them while they're still alive, whilst leaving the meal none the wiser. Consider an owl. Its wings are designed to fly without making noise. Its head is designed to pick up the faintest of noises. Its eyes are designed to see the slightest of movements. It hunts under the cover of darkness where it cannot be seen. Now consider a mouse. It relies on its whiskers to navigate its surroundings. They act as its main way of “seeing” the wold at night. While it is small, it causes the leaves to rustle as it moves. With a single swift motion, the owl sees and devours the mouse before it could even react. That monster is a fan maded creature for dnd, the game when you can meteor swarm a lich and calls Gods for help to make you sword shine in fancy magic . . . And still the false hydra is scary even in that context
Chapter one of the video along with your name and obvious reference to a certain dreamspawn literally gave me wind flower island flashbacks. The experience of the man depicted in chapter one is exactly the same one that I'd imagine sunny having if he had noticed too late, or if that damn cursed sword hadn't made it as obvious as it had been. FALSE HYDRA WOOOOOOOOOO, WE LOVE DEAD HAND FROM OOT GIVEN MORE HORRIFYING POWERS AND PUT IN D&D WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Real talk, the False Hydra is genuinely one of, if not my all time favorite fantasy creature. And as a few people have said, it's a lot more scary than it is explained in the video (you did a great job, not putting down your effort by any means!) you don't even HEAR the singing. Sure you hear it, but you never HEAR it, the Blind Song and the Hydra itself are technically invisible. I say technically since all it's doing is removing any memory, sight, or thought of it from your mind, or as the original description puts it (paraphrasing here), "slipping between the cracks in your vision and memories". The False Hydra's design is so simple but so horrifying, most art of it mimicking or taking inspiration from Dead Hand from Ocarina of Time in some sense, as the original post USES Dead Hand art pieces, and that's what I love about it. It's the perfect d&d monster for a group that enjoys solving mysteries, because of how genuinely difficult it is to even KNOW there's a False Hydra, you have to give them just enough rope to swing with, but not so much that they know what they're up against. It's best used when people don't know or expect it. Happy hunting! :)

This was honestly really god damn good, please do more like it. In particular, the false Hydra story was so provocative, it's made me really want to run a dnd campaign based around how much of a mindfuck that would actually be.
There is a specific creature known as the company, they present themselves as an ethereal smokey figure when they present themselves. They start off as someone hearing whispers as if spoken by thousands indistinguishable from each other but and only present when the target is alone, asleep and/or mentally broken. The company won't manipulate anything else in the environment until the target hears the first word they understand in the whispers. The company when they do manipulate the environment of the target will do so only to help the target. This help however comes with difficulty remembering tasks and difficulty finding the manipulated object even if the target is looking directly at the object. The object will also be hard for others to find even if the object is in the open or prominent in some way. Then after a while the number of objects that have been manipulated will increase slowly until it reaches a point where the target has nothing left to manipulate. The company will keep manipulating objects for a time before proceeding to the next part. Once the manipulated objects reaches a certain level the target will begin to loose their sanity, those long dead will suddenly show themselves to the target, and once the target has been driven mad they will vanish from the memories of all they love but not all at once it's slow and painfully until they are completely gone once that happens there the target will slowly crumble into dust until they vanish completely then everything including the universe as a whole without any hope of recovery.

False Hydra: 8/10 An interesting premise that has since been reused several times. Since DnD is relatively old, i'm assuming that at the time of its conception the idea was brand new, or, if plagiarized, at least fresh. As i am too lazy to do research about who came up with the erasing-from-reality trope first, im gonna cut corners and give it a 8/10 as opposed to either 6 or 10 Spider: 3.5/10. It's a generic murder monster. Men with boar heads, frog and turtle hybrids - Japanese horror folklore is rich with various monsters, but the quality of most individual scary stories is low. The same as the anime genre: a pile of shite with a couple diamonds in it Grass monkey: 4.5/10. It's a generic revenant monster with few small twists... and this one isnt even malicious? So why is it on the list of "most dangerous fantasy creatures"? You could totally be safe from it by simply avoiding its area of habitat, which it marks clearly enough

It's fear of the unknown as a creature type
Anti-memetic division was a fucking trip.
Best canon entry on the site imo.
055 is definitely not the weakest antimeme. antimemetic properties don't have to automatically be incredibly cracked, it can just be weirdly hard to remember if that ball was a soccerball or a basketball
@@uncroppedsoopits specifically stated to be a weak antimeme because they have it documented
WHAT? 055 is the strongest antimeme whenever it crosses over into other scp articles - dah hell u mean?
its stated to be a weak antimeme by marrion wheeler herself
4:16 damn didn't have to do me like that but fair
Hahaha mb
So a dragon that just gaslights you
The false hydra is a creation of the Goblin Punch blog. He nakes some of the best d&d content out there
Chapter three's main character desrrves what he has coming to him.
4:23 bloody hell mate, didn't need to kick me in the face with that one, lol
the thumbnail is amazing
Thanks that means a lot 🙌
@@NephisTVi saw it in a thumbnail of a creature designer, draw sessions aswell
@@NephisTV What is the creature in the thumbnail?
@@justsomeguyinouterspace8623 unsure, found the image on google and overlayed text!
@@NephisTV Shame, looks really interesting. Thanks for responding anyway.
Don’t mind me, just going to borrow these imagines for DnD character backstories…
Be my guest
@@NephisTVthe false hydra is a dnd monster tho
Bro this style of narration is so good!
Thank you!
You kinda sound like Rami Malek in Mr Robot. Killing it with the narration 🔥🔥
I gotta watch that. Is it good?
@@NephisTV it is
Great video, liked the way the backgrounds followed along with your story
Thank you!
This it kinda reminds me of this podcast I listen to where it’s a narrative and then it describes the monster or thing that attacked someone. I absolutely loved this, please do more! 🙏
Part two coming soon!
I believe it's freaky folklore
It was Magnus Archive? if not you would love that podcast too.
@@drakesacrum8445 awsome thanks for the suggestion
@@alejandrorojas3399 Looking back on my Spotify it was Redwood Bureau actually but I’ll definitely give that a listen if that’s similar!

@@minilegend7520 he probably died trying to
This is such a cool fuckin idea. Takes me back to when I was younger looking at videos explaining different dragon types and their myths
Glad you enjoyed it!
The very high quality videos that their creators have less than 50k subs are my favorite genre of UA-cam
Man is almost 1 AM and im just going to sleep. . . But that freaking false hydra part literally made me dont want to do so untill i atleast chequed once all my doors! That monster is a fan maded creature for dnd, the game when you can meteor swarm a lich and calls Gods for help to make you sword shine in fancy magic . . . And still the false hydra is scary even in that context
False hydra was by far my favourite (or most despised). I got goosebumps from your presentation!
6:40 Would. Next question.
The story telling for Jorogumo was incredible, definitely subscribing 👏🏿
Love the false hydra, one of dnd community's greatest creation
0:36 actually sent shivers down my spine
3:04 grab a brush put on a little makeup
Love the use of On The Nature Of Daylight, really sets a pleasant atmosphere
Youre criminally underrated lad keep it up
Chapter one of the video along with your name and obvious reference to a certain dreamspawn literally gave me wind flower island flashbacks. The experience of the man depicted in chapter one is exactly the same one that I'd imagine sunny having if he had noticed too late, or if that damn cursed sword hadn't made it as obvious as it had been.
Anyways, keep up the good work, Sleeper.
I loved that nightmare so much! That’s really high praise so thank you
Was sleeping to this. Then came 1:56 and I am now fully awake
really like the fact that you put light of the seven in your video. thats literally such a great choice for a video like this
Entrancing. I subbedfor more
This is the first video that deeply impressed me in a very long time. Especially the first chapter.
Omega good job, pal.
Bro is the best person for horror stories while camping
Yes sir! Keep this series going!! 🙏👍
Damn bruh you definitely earned a sub
Didn't even realise you had less than 4k subs
Keep up the amazing work
Thank you!
Make more of these bro…deadass went searching & its just those two; take ur time with wt u make & the specialty you endure, but definitely make more of those creature things. I listen to allot of creepypasta’s so this is fire. You mentioned cryptids that dont normally get mentioned
Thank you so much , I will!
Shameful the sub count doesn't reflect this videos quality
True too tier content, genuinely made me shiver with how well the editing is
Wow thank you that means a lot🙌 More uploads soon!
Great work , great story . The slow storytelling mood is Perfect . I love that. Dont change it too much pls ❤
I'm glad you like it!
This is an impressive video, well done. You’ve earned a sub brother
Glad you enjoyed it! Check out part 2🙌
This is indeed an amazing video, and the way you went about it was also just as amazing. Good job, sir

This was honestly really god damn good, please do more like it. In particular, the false Hydra story was so provocative, it's made me really want to run a dnd campaign based around how much of a mindfuck that would actually be.

Bro this was such a good video, if you’re consistent you’ll get far, keep it up!!!
@@berrisman thanks that’s the goal
Absolutely sublime. Subbed
Glad to have you!
An amazing video... But dawg when Light of The Seven began playing i felt chills omg

I never comment saying well done for a video... but you sir have production quality stuff here. Incredibly creative, great voice, tone, everything. S+++
Never mind I take it back... just hit the rick roll
Haha very fair
Not a false hydra but “there is no antimemetic division” plays with a similar concept, fighting something you dont know exists. Very good read
GOODNESS, if you describe the monster like usual youtuber would, it would be reading a wiki with your friend. BUT YOU SIR, you narate it so well that i FELT it, for the chapter two, just saying it as "oh it's a spider yokai that could disguise as a human so charming", but man, imagining someone you love and for 3 years is a yokai? geez. marvelous
Thank you for the kind words! And yeah I wanted it to feel more like a story cuz I thought it’d be good writing practice
I do really like this video, but is there any way you can be... less close to the mic so there is a lot less boom in your voice and less vocal fry?😅
This video is great! PLEASE make more!!!
Check out part two!
False Hydra: 8/10
An interesting premise that has since been reused several times. Since DnD is relatively old, i'm assuming that at the time of its conception the idea was brand new, or, if plagiarized, at least fresh. As i am too lazy to do research about who came up with the erasing-from-reality trope first, im gonna cut corners and give it a 8/10 as opposed to either 6 or 10
Spider: 3.5/10. It's a generic murder monster. Men with boar heads, frog and turtle hybrids - Japanese horror folklore is rich with various monsters, but the quality of most individual scary stories is low. The same as the anime genre: a pile of shite with a couple diamonds in it
Grass monkey: 4.5/10. It's a generic revenant monster with few small twists... and this one isnt even malicious? So why is it on the list of "most dangerous fantasy creatures"? You could totally be safe from it by simply avoiding its area of habitat, which it marks clearly enough
Fantastic video! Not only are they informative, but they're presented in a story-making them very engaging!
Thank you for the entertainment! You've earned a new sub!
