@@aayushnair9279 you have not seen enough of him then..
I used to think same after watching just golmaal, choti si baat.
But then I started watching more of him and realised he is really really good..Don't misjudge him on his typical voice tone(or talking style)..Sanjeev Kumar also had similar issue with his talking style, but nevertheless he was among the greatest (overshadowed by leftist+Islamist media who always keeps md Yusuf and naseeruddin ahead of him)..Try watching scenes from movies with understanding of voice modulation, correct expression and then body language.

Amitabh B literally is the biggest superstar india has ever seen. and i know rajnikanth respect AB lot and AB does same for his senios like sivaji ganesan. now AB can be right in what he said about kamal hassan but AB literally has 3-4 national awards. thing is kamal hasan never reached the stardom of AB, rajnikanth. and rajnikanth can't reach the acting level of AB. i mean rajnikanth can't do piku, paa. so my point is AB is superstar but also a great actor. same goes for dilip kumar (literally first indian method actor but also kind of first superstar of hindi cinema atleast). i mean i laugh when i see such stupid comments.
Chennai’s famous Devi complex had a small screen called Devi Bala - and for few years movie after movie being changed were Amol’s movies - it was called Amol palekar theatre. Every movie like chitchor golmaal rajnikandha all ran more than 15 weeks there
In that theater I have seen the movie naseeb in early 80's
Terrific actor yes , Golmaal,Chitchor and many others ....
Chennai people watched Hindi films great only certain Hindi lovers would have the gentleman Raj has great memory really when I studied in Chennai many students didn't no sholay deewaar films which were hit
Who can forget devi theatre
Dont live in chennai anymore but eveeynook and corner is missed deeply
@Raj Sun. When was this exactly? I was watching movies at that theatre in 95.
One of the rare gem in Bollywood. Great actor.
Amol Palekar is so polite and soft spoken. Sounds like a true gentleman, and was a natural actor, never did vulgar films or faltu hulladbaazi. He was the quintessential common man and no one played common Indian as naturally as him. His Golmaal is still the best comedy. He speaks with so much thehraav till date. Very simple, polite, no frills, no ego. Good to hear about his discipline and professionalism.
Truly I loved watching Golmaal, and seeing him after like 20 years I didn't recognise him but when he spoke I knew exactly who he was.
@@aman113 Yes his signature soft spoken style
He is a pure asset of the entire Indian film industry comprising all languages. I am a Bengali and I hv seen Bengali films of Amol Palekar that were so good. I am from Pakistan and I was introduced to the Cinema of Hrishkesh Mukharji by my father. Amol Sahab was the face of his cinema and along with the one and only Utpal Dutt. The sweet and simple cinematic narrative genius of Mukharjee affected me greatly. Today I am a filmmaker myself and I thank these great people for making such a great positive impact. Thank you Sir ❤
Hello, Najaf sahab , I am Shekhar from India, I would love to see your films. Is that possible ?
It's truly nice to see you guys talking about films . I tell these politicians are the ones who want to divide countries with religion caste and creed as their. Weapon. Seriously i wish we could have a lot more interaction with our neighbouring countries.
@Keith Nigli you may read their holy book and then decide for yourself! While at it, read up about Wahabi islam and how it is impacting the world. Don't blame the politicians. They have way shorter lifetime but this particular organized religion has been in conflict all over world for more than 1400 yrs. No politician has lived that long to benefit from it.

I have the good fortune of meeting Amol Palekar ji from close quarters in Mumbai international airport. He was looking for a golf cart to drop him till passport control. Such a humble person, didn't throw any tantrum. And of course such a brilliant artist. Who can forget Golmal 🙏❤

Did he get the golf cart? Hope you helped. 🙏
huge fan of Amol Palekar his simplicity is the reason I love him
I am a Kannadiga and take a wild guess which movie I am going to watch next? :-). I had no idea Amol Palekar had acted in a Kannada movie. Being a 70's kid, Amol was a bigger star in my household than Amitabh even! I still watch his movies whenever I am feeling down. Its amazing his delivery. Even in this interview it is so typical delivery of Amolji. God bless him, as he truly is one of the brightest stars of Indian films. I also liked the way he said Ananth for Ananth Nag. I wish he had spoken more about his Kannada movie and his interactions with the great Ananth Nag.
Guess, He has spoken about Kannada cinema experience in detail in this short video.
He acted in a Kannada movie called KANESWARA RAMA in which ANANTH NAG played the lead role. Shabana Azmi also acted in it,directed by M S Sathyu in 1977. Excellent movie. It was an art movie.
Well said Mr Palekar. Always admired your films & roles you played. Respect.
Punctuality is the difference between Amitabh and Rajesh Khanna. Both were talented but look how far Amitabh has come. The second thing is conduct. The south people are way ahead. But these days as Amol Palekar says all the youngsters are professionals. The key factor above all is respect for women. No industry will succeed without that.
I know, so boring!! Seems like a freaking corporate industry nowadays.
❤❤❤❤❤❤ Matriecal society is ahed in respecting women.

What an absolute delight to listen to this legend. I could just hear all his stories all day..
He is 79 years still so energetic and good looking
Amul Palekar's soft voice and humble roles taught me - one can be a winner even with a soft voice and a humble approach. Absolutely no need to come with blazing guns.
Incidentally around 1975 or thereabouts, Mr Mahesh Elkunchwar..then a budding young playwright was renting a room in a bldg next to mine. My friends and I (college boys at the time) met up with him for the first time and were chatting when Mr Amol Palekar (of Rajnigandha fame) dropped in. Mr Mahesh E promptly introduced him to us as his friends although we had known him only for an hour or so !! Mr Amol Palekar was very friendly and we had a short chat before they went out.
Both true gentlemen to the core 👍
Wow 😮...great sir
Mahesh Elkunchwar went on to became a great playwright..

Amol Palekar and Poornima and Ambika are still house hold names for an average Malayali because of the movie Olangal. Ethereal Music by Ilayaraja and Brilliant visuals by Balu Mahendra still warms our hearts. It is such a beautiful nostalgia.
Olangal is the Malayalam film that Amol ji is talking about. Balu Mahendra was a genius . What use of lighting, pauses, silence, cinematography, Ilayaraja music etc …truly a magician. Olangal was a v good film and Amol ji is a v fine actor
I'm surprised that he didn't act in Tamil, though the legendary director about whom he is talking about, Balu Mahendra , was a Tamil director who made many epic movies in Tamil. In those days, Tamil directors used to take a lot of movies in Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada too .
Simple and straight forward. Beautiful personality 🙏 Amol Palekar Ji ❤️❤️❤️
True gem. Artists like him keep the legacy survive. Such a humble person and, of course, amazing actor.
Being on time shows the dedication and respect you have for your co-workers. It is a horrible habit that we have when we claim we are "fashionably late". It is good that the new generation understands the value of time and are professional.
Good actor and his movies are so simple and relatable to the common man. Hope he gets his due.
Simple & sweet actor. Loved all his movies😊
Excellent talk. Openly and honesty shares the background work involved in acting. Kudos for having his standards and sticking to them.
That malayalam movie was Olangal. An adaptation of Hollywood movie Man Woman & Child which was also made around the same time in Hindi by Shekhar Kapur as Masoom. Amol Palekar played the lead role played by Naseeruddin Shah in Masoom. Olangal was remarkable for a reason, the director Balu Mahendra was a Sri Lankan Cinematographer, the male lead was Maharashtrian, Music was by Ilaiyaraaja then undisputed giant of tamil film music (also a heavyweight in other south indian languages)
Wow!
Olangal had Ambika and Poornima bhagyaraj no? Zareena Wahab was also there??

Sir, your Autobiography will be amazing for film fans.
I have seen your acting. Its amazing. By the way its not "Kannad", its "Kannada". "aa" at the end.
In Marathi we say Kannad or कानडी. I don’t know Kannada language but it seems that ‘aa’ you mention is used at the end of many words, like Ramayan becomes Ramayana. Ram becomes Rama and so on. Is that correct ?
@@sachinmainkar Certain things like a persons name, place name or language name is pronounced the same in all language. I dont see how this can be different in certain languages.
In south the hinduism is non-vedic. Meaning varnas are outside of religion. Varnas and jatis was imposed a few centuries ago. So that that about Rama or Ramanyana. Thankfully its all going back to the non-vedic roots.
