WOW, amazing how that young pear tree put out that much fruit, I need me a few of them over here lol!! Salad looked delicious and healthy, thank ya for sharing mam!! Dan
Thank you so much Vanessa ! Yes get one, Keiffer pear. They seem to be the most insect resistant of all my 9 pears. It would grow real nice were you live !
I've always heard you are supposed to pick Kieffer pears when you see the first sign of yellowing and then, you let them fully ripen on the counter for a few weeks until fully yellow. From what I understand, these are not pears you can eat straight from the tree, but are great for storing and eating over the course of the entire year if kept refrigerated. This might be due to the fact that they are Asian-European hybrids.
I have a Kieffer pear tree that is only half the size of your tree and I can't believe that little tree has over 60 pears on it and I haven't done anything with it and it's in a bucket. I just believe my eyes. This is the 1st year it ever put out any pears. The tree is about 2 years old I think from the size of it.but not sure because I bought it from Ace hardware
they look like green potatoes, they sound hard. I bought me a Kieffer Pear a few weeks ago, very tall with fat trunk, no leaves then. Now it is awake but no buds! It's over 10 ft tall.
