- This is the one I bought in 2020 or 2022 ! It was sold green light which means it was guaranteed until we drove it off the lot Then that became null and void We been dragging our feet getting it repaired. But finally got a quote for a good used trans with 6 mo warranty $2500 installed So we finally gonna pull the trigger I wanted to see if she started ok
Hey Joe. Yes, that's an Ultra Luxury Package on that ES350. Like you mentioned, wheels, panoramic roof.... then plus the Mark Levinson system with Navigation among other items on the UL. Sad the transmission was never serviced. My suggestion is if no corrosion underneath, put in a re-manufactured transmission, and it will probably go to 300,000 to 400,000 miles. Another great video, Joe. 👍
She is getting a good used one with a 6 month warranty. $2500 installed
@@JoesGoldenGarage excellent 👍
I wouldn’t go for a rebuilt transmission, I’d go for a nice low miles used transmission with a guarantee on it and send her, those are less than half the price of a rebuild and will likely drive like new
car wants to live.
With a new transmission and maybe some tires replaced (dry rot?) this could be a forever car for you Joe. The Saab seems a little cursed. Wishing you good luck with all these products.
Over on the Volvo forum these 6 speed Aisin transmissions are known to be reliable unless the valve bodies give up. After 200k with no fluid maintenance you never know what can happen. They rely on torque converter slip a lot and they often deal with powerful Volvo turbo engines and Toyota V6s et cetera. Some people never really seem to have problems with them. Mine kept having shift quality issues in my Volvo and would give me "Transmission performance low" messages when it got too hot, but new software and a relearn fixed it!
these actually don’t use a aisin transmission, but rather a Toyota U Series U660e only used in toyota/lexus products
@@fluffyhamster6041 I am not 100% but I believe them to be the same. Aisin is, after all, the main powertrain component supplier to Toyota, and part of the Toyota group. So I assumed the TF-80SC is internally called the U660e by Toyota. This is what Wikipedia claims, anyways.

Joe 2009 Lexus ES350 161,000 miles dealership maintenance all it’s life price $7,800 over price about right
I would buy a 10-12 just to get the latest refresh. Pricing may not be there depending on condition I would say it would have to be damn near perfect for 7800
@@JoesGoldenGarage for that year what would be good price
Wow $4900 for a transmission 😳😳😳😳…are you for real 😳🤦🏻♂️….it’s very expensive
Bring it back to life! It deserves it…
If this thing was a Nissan Maxima everybody in their comments would be trash talking the CVT
@@Ryguyreviews706would a maxima make it to 200k miles on the original trans?
Most people don't think about what's really needed in car maintenance. Can you try a transmission oil and filter change to see if that helps?
I actually put a good used valve body in it with fresh oil and filter and it did not change anything…. But it was a used valve bodiy sooooooo who knows it could’ve been garbage.
@@JoesGoldenGarageprobably was driven on bad valve body parts and it wrecked the gears
Once this car gets a new battery, new oil and fluids, the used transmission you're possibly getting, and a good wash and detail, this ES350 will be like brand new again! Can you please do an update on the beater 2010 ES350 that you aunt drives?
Sure will. It finally had a small breakdown. But it’s rollin again. I will do one next time my aunt passes thru.
Have you done anything to this Lexus since you did this very cold start on it? I bet the battery went dead when you turned the vehicle off...
Looks like a glorified Nissan Maxima
Hey Joe, it's been a while
I know! Right! I was excited for this update
Sell the sob and keep this
Yeeeeees
How about get a used newer model transmission?? I believe this Gen. is compatible up to ‘18-‘19 model year. Check into this.
PS: Few days ago I was looking for a new video on this ES350.
Recently bought an ‘09 ES350. At the inspection and test drive it was fine, although there was evidence that it’s been rebuilt and after a few weeks the transmission started acting out a little bit. Occasional delays and jerks in shifting from P to D & R to D. I hope it doesn’t break on me until I sell it out.
No, I think the 2013 es got the 8 speed, and I know at least the 16-18 got the new 8 speed. Even if it uses the 6 speed it’s not gonna work with the older car
@@hayden93 Nope, upto 2018 model year it’s a 6 speed auto. A mechanic told me it’s compatible with these.
I would buy jdm transmission
What’s special about JDM I don’t know anything about them
My dad had a battery charger like that except it was a red color, probably made in the early 60's.
This thing will charge a Tesla I bet
