My biggest complain with 8-7 is that the enemy soldiers and officers are so passive and weak. I remember downloading on 5 on my pc and was surprised because I had forgotten was it was like to have to think just a little about how to fight enemies. I also don’t like the costumes and personality changes they’ve made but those are minor things. I think maybe in their endeavor to fill the battlefield with as many ppl as possible we’ve lost some quality and makes things very unsatisfying
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the videos. It wad also nice to get your opinion on each game too. I hope to see you down in the comments again with the next Musou May.
@@ChrisGildart Can you tell what meme behind the "CON!" I've heard it on a Pokémon Parody video of Spéedrunning Omega Ruby version (Matty Burrito) Mew is in Space and he says it the same way you do ...is there a connection or am I overthinking?
From other games, I like an unbiased review/opinion of it. But since the general perception of Musou games is that "They're all the same," I seek the opinion of someone who actually loves these games for me to believe them. It's like when you ask someone who has never even seen a baseball match what he thought of this year's World Series, he would have no idea. When Hyrule Warriors came out, people came to me and asked me what I thought about it, "It's cool" I said, "But it's too easy." And mostly everyone responded the same way, "Isn't all Musou games that easy, though?" If you approach any Dynasty Warriors game like Hyrule Warriors thinking you can take on the army by yourself without leveling up, you're gonna get spanked.
The greatest thing about DW5 is that's when we could finally control character directional movement mid combo. Before that you were locked into whatever direction you were moving/facing until you finished your combo.
dw 8 empires is the perfect one for me, so many char and none of them have duplicate weapon! and i can make my own story in so many ways. still playing it until today! xD
hi Chris, just watched all your vids about dynasty warriors pros and cons, gonna say it was a pleasure because i have played since number 2 and seeing someone speak about the games in such care and detail was really heart warming, honestly don't ever give up on youtube, everything from your editing and commentary it was amazing, the community deserves someone like you. subscribed now and cant wait to watch more you have to offer. sending love from the uk.
Dynasty warriors 8 was the game where I spent the most my time. The ones who really leveled all their characters and obtained the 5 and 6 star weapons, in addition to improving those same weapons to level 10 all the statistics. They will give me reason that Hard is easy, Chaos is normal and Ultimate is just a challenge, you only have to have your musou to counter the other enemy's musou. Anyway, it's still a great game and so far I can't stop playing the campaign and Free Mode.
Dynasty Warriors 2 - 4/10 First entry in the series. It's understandably very bare bones compared to the later series. Dynasty Warriors 3 - 6/10 This entry is where the series really got its identity and improved over 2 in almost every way. Dynasty Warriors 4 - 7/10 Further improvement over previous game in almost every aspect, duels, and great story mode based on factions with alternate routes made it no doubt the best entry to date at the time. Dynasty Warriors 5 - 7/10 Story mode that was focused on individuals and made you more attached to the characters. Further improvements were made to the gameplay making it really smooth. Like allowing you to change direction mid-combo. A seemingly small change, but made gameplay that much more fun giving you more control. But some things were unfortunately cut like duels and alternate routes in the story. Dynasty Warriors 6 - 6/10 Superb upgrade in terms of visuals, much bigger and more dynamic battlefields with seamless duels, big epic battles and sieges. But by remarking everything from the ground up, a lot of things had to be cut. And the new combat system was too simple and repetitive. It's still a pretty fun game to play on its own when you don't compare it in terms of content to the previous entries though. Dynasty Warriors 7 - 8/10 Absolutely best story in any DW title. A must play to experience it for any DW fan! Pre-battle camps are really fun and immersive addition. From the gameplay perspective it brings the series back to its roots while expanding in few areas as well. Like making Musou attacks truly epic, Ex attacks and weapon switching. But it still had some mainstay features of DW cut and still had cloned movesets. Dynasty Warriors 8 - 9/10 It built upon and improved over 7 in almost every single possible way and is brimming with content. The return of alternate routes in story mode, huge character roster all with individual movesets, Ambition Mode and so much more. It's my go to Dynasty Warriors game to this day. I'm hoping that KT will come back to this entry as a basis when making DW10. These are my rough thoughts on the series. Small disclaimer that I haven't played any entry in the series before 7 in a long time. And I still haven't played DW9 because my PC sucks, but I'm even scared to after hearing almost universal negative feedback from it.
A major CON for me was the lack of an English dub for the story-mode narration. In DW7, Huang Gai's VA did an excellent job narrating and really added to the emersion - it felt like I was watching a natural history episode about China. Surely they could of got the VA to do the narration, hell, they could of got him to narrate it later and add it as DLC.
The biggest issue with DW8 imo is cutscenes and voice acting. God, this game feels so emotionless compared to DW7 I mean, look at Sun Jian and Sun Ce's death scenes. In DW8 these look shameful, while in 7 Sun Ce's death actually makes people cry. Same with Liu Bei's death too. And Liu Bei's reaction to Guan Yu's and Zhang Fei's passing in DW7 was superior too. I mean, in DW7 he was so mad he sliced his throne in two, while in DW8 he simply cried and then in battle he is suddenly "I'm angry now"...
What a dedication!! 2023, and i wanted to try 8 XL. My first was 5 and i enjoyed it a lot. Sadly 8 empires on my pc is playable but without "play movies" so i don't want to play it anymore. Will try the 8 XL instead, hopefully there will be no problem whatsoever. Love ur vid dude!
They totally know they can't top DW7 in storywise, they focused other contents. Honestly, that's a good choice, contents are likely doubled, I especially loved playing same stage with opposing side like classic series. I honestly prefer DW7's combat mechanic but it's not bad in that game. At least it felt different and rock paper scissor mechanic is good addition. Three different musou attack is another good upgrade. Lastly hypothetical route is returned, it's like DW4's alternate routes and loved it. There not major flaws in this game just some things could have handeled better. Every officer had one stage but some of em had just one, come on Omega Force, I love playing with Zhen ji and Cai Wenji. New character additions are genarally well for Wei and Jin, it's not bad for Wu too but not late era new Wu character is a bit let down. Only Ding Feng and Lianshi lasts longer when you play with Jin. On the other hand, Shu side is mostly bad, do we really need all of the Guan Yu's children, wasn't there any other prominent officers. They are my least favorite kingdom but still most of the additions are unnecessary. And lastly Musou rage is unnecessary addition in my opinion. I wasn't fan of that mechanic in DW5, in DW 8 it's more fun to use but kinda overpowered. I don't mind if they remove it. Good work, I really enjoyed watching all of the videos. See you in next Musou May, I can't wait to watch.
+nemesis3587 DW8 is probably the entry I played the most. I didn't mind the new characters. There are lots I think they should add in. Cheng Pu has been one. I liked the Musou Rage in DW8. Changing the Musou attacks to that of the classics with the long string of attacks was cool in my opinion. I also liked that each character had their own individual weapons. The affinity system made me switch my weapons more frequently than in DW7. I found it freshened up the combat. I'm glad you enjoyed the videos! It's been cool to see your comments for the last few days. Hope to chat with you in the next videos!
I use to play the classic Dynasty Warriors at my cousin’s house when I was a kid. Only recently, have I decided to jump back into the musou genre and I think I’m gonna start with this one. I also plan on playing many of the spin offs if I like this enough
came to this series with Kessen 2. I played thousand of hours of kessen 2 and then saw Dynasty Warriors 3 at my local shop and saw the developer and fell in love in an instant.
Im new to this series and only started this year with DW8:XLCE. I wish there was more old chinese music or traditional chinese music or whatever but other than that i'm enjoying playing it. Looking forward to get old PS2 titles like 4 and 3 and then move on to other titles in the series. I hope DW10 can once again capture classic spirit of this amazing seriea.
I bought the PS4 version of this game a few weeks ago and still playing it. I like the minor improvements and the affinity system. Still have a lot of trophies to get. A lot.
@@ChrisGildart just a few miscellaneous stuff like the movie and Xtreme Legends stages trophies. I'm not exactly aiming for 100% completion. I wouldn't go that far.
Hey, its a musoumay! Even while its a 4 years old. And damn, starting from 4, playing every from there to 9, even while ilthey was on japan, cuz 5 and 7 wasn't translated on release for PC. But still love 4 for best music and 8 is masterpiece of entire dynasty series, for me. They make everything right. And thanks Chris for content and hello from Russia. Even while im not subscribed but watch videos from time to time.
*_TWO PLATINUMS_* *Pros* *So many maps, and they're all new and entirely unique from 6 and 7. *First game in the series where everyone has their own moveset. Everyone has two EX attacks and 3 Musou attacks. Rage mechanic added/brought back. What 7 should've been in the first place, eh? *All scrapped characters are back, several more added. *Extensive weapon crafting system, which allows the harder difficulties to be played with more ease. Ambition mode can be abused for gem farming. *Bodyguards, 5th weapons come back, and XL allowed 3 bodygaruds instead of 1, as well as 6th weapons. *Focusing on the platinums shouldn't be a con. More content (most in the series by far) is a huge pro. *Rock/Paper Scissors mechanic allows you to either deal more damage to officers, or wail on them wtihout worrying about them being stunned or guarding most of the time. The window to weapon counter is also pretty big. This actually, like you said, gives weapon switching a purpose. I still tried only using each characters' specific weapon though. *Horses can be mounted automatically by holding down the call button. The "weird' way they turn is meant to be an upgrade to improve their handling, and it definitely helps. In past games you'd run in one direction and have to stop if you miss a sharp turn. In 8 you can run indefinitely. *Cons* *The song remixes are pretty forced and underwhelming *The training center in Ambition Mode hardly raises level at all (lol) *Xun Yu and the DLC weapons' EX attacks are restricted to Empires *Some of the story-mode star-objectives are very ambiguous, and there are some minor glitches scattered around (i.e. enemy officers that are supposed to move somewhere don't, prevent you from completing the objective properly.)
New-school musou players will probably say this is the best DW game. Old-school players would probably pick DW4 or DW5XL/Empires. I do think those three sit at the very top of the series, though. DW8 has a ton of content and most of it is of very high quality. I particularly like the way DW8 handled the story mode, with a timeline, hypothetical tangents and special stages all on the same map. You can tell which battle forks off from which, so you won't get lost when trying to figure out where to go to unlock the next thing. Sure, some of the challenges are insanely difficult, but those are optional.
I think the con you mentioned about how much content there is can go both ways, for someone like me I loved spending 400 hours on this game just to do everything, it was such a fun time and one of the most cost efficient games I have ever purchased
It's only really a con for me because I have so many games on the go and it's gotten worse over the years now that the channel is reviewing new releases. But I love the amount of content in this game. When I do get a chance I keep coming back to it.
@@ChrisGildart Yea I can totally see why someone might be turned against it, I do believe DW8XL is the game to get if you're looking for a long term grind. From your point of view, then yea I would opt for one of the earlier titles.
About the horses turning weird on PS4. It's the same on PC. I actually like it. The horses would usually turn very stiffly like a car that can make sharp turns, but on PC/PS4 they lean when they turn like real animals do. That's why it looks weird. To me it makes the movement look more realistic.
I find that they lean too much. If it were more subtle it'd look more realistic in my opinion. I find the stiffness of the older horse animations to be less jarring.
Man I'm 70h on the vita version 🙂(dw8xl) very nice game . I have it for the last 4-5 years , but it was on my back log and never give it a chance , but recently decided to do it , and I was pleasantly surprised 🙂 Nice video 👍🙂
I personally don't really like these newer titles. I mean they're good games, but I fell in love with DW partly because of its setting and atmosphere. Whenever I play older titles, like 2-5, I feel like I'm on a battlefield in ancient China. But these new ones look so cartoony, from character designs to the madness that's going on on the screen. There's so many bodies flying around, you barely even see your own character.
@@ChrisGildart Of course, it's a matter of preference. I'm just a big fan of ancient China and would like to feel immersed in such setting. I haven't played 9 yet because I don't have either PS4 or a powerful enough PC, but it looks impressive to me that they made it open world and on the actual map of China. The graphics and costumes look more realistic as well. For me it's sad the game flopped. I don't know how bad it plays, but I'm sure Koei will probably just go back to the cartoony silliness and stage-structure of 7 and 8. I wish they just improved some of the gameplay issues of 9 and made another attempt at open world.
@@Pyro-Moloch it'd be tough for them to patch the game to make the gameplay better because 9's main problem, in my opinion, is the combat. I don't think moving away from the charge system was a good idea. Plus the open world feels pretty empty at times. The latter is easier to fix though.
I'M SO GLAD SOMEONE ELSE SAID IT IT'S BEEN 5 YEARS AND I STILL HAVEN'T PLATTED DW8 I HAVE 65% ON PS4 I'M A COMPLETIONIST GAMER AND THIS IS MY FAVOURITE GAME HELP
If you don't have the Vita version, that's probably the biggest help. Just grinding out levels while on a lunch break at work, or if your on a road trip and someone else is driving. It makes a huge difference.
@@ChrisGildart sir, my friend, my lovely homie, if i had a vita with the vita version on it, you know your bitch would take it to work and play it during bitches' break or on trips and visits, i will keep that in mind for the potential future, my broski, but i am sadly forced to stick to the ps4 and suffer through the last 35% with nothing but mild trepidation and instant ramen, thank you for the idea and the thoughtful consideration of my materialistic completionist point of view
@Char Aznable I'd agree, the death scenes in 7 did make me cry... And Liu Bei slashing his chair... That was good. 8 kinda was okay... Pang Tong's death was sad... Don't get me started with 9, majority of them just flops on a chair -_-
Don't see how you saw the graphics of 8 the same as 7 but....MMMKKKK perfect review. Seriously, it makes me happy to see that this community may be small, but it's passionate
When I said that the graphics looked the same I more meant the character models and environmental assets. The new lighting engine does a pretty good job especially on the PS4. If there's one thing about the #KTfamily it's that we're passionate and will talk about our love of the Warriors games until the day we die.
I'm both hyped and concerned with WO4. I don't know if it'll be able to beat WO3U for best bang for your buck, but I'm fairly confident I'll enjoy it more the WAS and DW9.
Just finished watching every single #MusouMay video, bravo Chris. The passion you displayed was to the Xtreme. While I may not agree with all of your points, each video was an absolute pleasure to watch. Hell, I was almost late to work because I refused to leave the house until the video ended lol. 😂 You've got oceans of potential just waiting to be unleashed. Why not break down those floodgates and upload more frequently? I know quality requires lots of time but believe me the talent is %100 already there. Do not underestimate yourself (or pursue Lu Bu. Yeah sorry I couldn't resist LMAO.) Keep at it Chris and trust me... you'll be huge one day. 👍
OhhhhMyJosh Thanks so much for the comments Josh! It means a lot to see comments like this. I am making plans to start uploading more frequently and possibly starting a second channel for Let's Plays. I'm still playing around with a few ideas, but the content on this channel will still stay as high quality as I can make it.
I am patiently waiting for them to confirm whether or not we'll have a Free Mode. I'm sure I'll enjoy the game without, but I'll really enjoy the game with.
@@ChrisGildart Got it yesterday I think it's better than 5. Accept have too pay for costumes. Characters feel more fleshed out then 5. Prefer some characters voices in 5 example Zhou Yu. Cutscenes sad death scenes l.
As a longtime fan who last played 7 incessantly and bought tons of DLC it's been awhile since I played a DW game. 9 doesnt seem that great but DW 8 appears to preserve the beloved formula and be packed with content. I may buy the extreme legends version on PS4. I kind of miss the series I have loved since DW 3-7. I wonder if the armies fight eachother a bit more? The thing that has bothered me most about the series is that not much happens unless the player character is involved. We have many games that feel like you are a part of a huge battlefield. Whereas Warriors games have always been arcadey and one dimensionally. Nontheless I've always been a die hard fan since a was a kid so may jump back into DW8, thx for the overview.
If you liked DW7, then you'll definitely find some enjoyment out of DW8. I find it does everything 7 does right, plus fixes all the things I didn't like about that one.
Tbh, I can’t help but think that if Dynasty Warriors 6, even with the renbu system, came out with no clones and no cut characters and everyone having a story mode, it may actually be pretty beloved. That game still had the essence of the ps2 games in a lot of ways, with great battlefield immersion, something the newer games are missing.
But yeah, that being said. 4 is my favorite. Damn near perfect. Only things I can complain about is the lock on system and the weapon experience system instead of weapon drops.
I loved Dynasty warriors 7 I put about 180 hours into it and not really wanting to start the grind in this mode all over again. Thanks for the info. I already own it and played a little bit but dont want to dive to deep and get hooked
Best Dynasty Warriors ever! Those hypotheticals, fighting mechanics with switch weapon and weapon's affinity, and then actual useful and tactical bodyguards, Mmuach. Perfect
@@iliarsl haha, yes I absolutely get you about those peons. Because I believe since the 6th instalment, those guys are just there as cannon fodder and to bump up your KO counts in a battle. They're just there to satisfy the players and make them feel great for sending those guys flying all over the map. And all of that comes to (maybe the worst part of the game) the difficulty. Peons are just gonna swarm and assault you if you are not careful. 3-5 hits, that's all are needed to deplete even the max level character's HP.
Dynasty Warriors 8 might be my favorite game in the series so far. It fixed the big issue I had with the story mode by allowing players to go through a kingdom’s historic mode or also to unlock a what if mode that harkens back to the Classic DW feeling of your efforts mattering and your kingdom was successful because of your efforts. The rock, paper, scissors aspect added to the weapons was really creative, and even though the movesets are still cloned, Koei Techmo giving every character unique EX attacks and Musou attacks did feel like they were still trying to persevere the uniqueness of each and every character. I never got to play 7 Empires, so I didn’t know 8 Empires was a bit of a downgrade, but I’m glad to hear that if still did things mostly well in your opinion. Xtreme Legends complete edition was such a great package, since all of the base game was there as well as the expansion stuff of Xtreme Legends. Overall, DW8 made me happy as it persevered the gameplay brought to us by DW7, tweaked it to make it even more interesting, and fixed the major story mode change I had a problem with in 7. I know I might be on the minority when it comes to 7’s story mode… but it does feel amazing to actually have your actions matter and having the fate of your Kingdom back in your own hands again.
Dynasty Warriors just needs to pair the old gameplay with better rpg elements, it's missing a lot of rpg stuff which would make it a lot better, the ability to gear your character and change the mechanics of the repetitive gameplay, player choice and things to collect, a reason to grind and kill things.
I feel as though to make Dynasty Warriors come into the new age they need to revamp the combat system and make it more complex. I personally don't think they need RPG elements as much as action elements.
I played DW4 a lot on PC in my childhood and still sometimes return to it. DW6 - i tried it, deleted after less than hour, absolute dogshit. DW8 - godlike, so huge amout of content O___O You can spend so many hours there
I want them to return the unique item in dw5 series. Customizing unique item is what make children keep playing for the fun. Bringing elephant/tiger, faster rage filling, etc And also add skill tree from dw6. Teenager loves to decides the skill path their favorite character have. These 2 feature will make the best dw ever.
Yeah. I See Now Most Of The Graphics(EX:Charachter Dialouge Portraits) Look Similar To 7 Also The Completion Thing Isnt A Problem. The Game Is Just About Getting More Powerful As You Hack And Slash. All In Good Fun. (IMO) #DynastyWarriorsForLife
"The horses turns really weird on the PS4" Meh, the PC is weirder, they just snaps at the direction where you wanted them to face. Maybe it's because of the keyboard controls, maybe.
its 2021..I've played a few DW games extensively in the past. it seems the consensus is that DW8 XL is pretty much the best there is and 9 is total trash?
Dynasty Warriors 8 is the last time we’ll hear the OG English dub of the Dynasty Warriors series since Dynasty Warriors 9 has a brand new cast for the English dub We’re gonna be missing the amazing voices of Kirk Thornton and Douglas Rye big time
Don't know if you'll see this comment or not but most of those voice actors were around since Dynasty Warriors 4 right because most of the voice actors in Dynasty Warriors 4 came straight from Rurouni Kenshin.......
@@darkenedpsynoid oh yep, they are! Richard Epcar (Dong Zhuo)- Hiko Seijuro Lex Lang (Zhuge Liang)- Sanosuke Sagara Richard Cansino (Pang Tong)- Kenshin Himura Terence Stone (Zhao Yun)- Aoshi Shinomori Kirk Thornton (Xiahou Dun)- Hajime Saito Jamieson Price (Lu Bu)- Usui, the blind dude with a turtle shell as a shield Wendee Lee (Lady Zhenji)- Yumi Komagata and Yahiko Myojin Steve Blum (Sun Jian*)- Makoto Shishio *-Steve Blum was the voice of Sun Jian in Dynasty Warriors 4
@@darkenedpsynoid you’re welcome, I gotta say that Lex Lang’s portrayal of Zhuge Liang is soft and calm unlike his portrayal of Sanosuke which is a gung ho, boisterous brawler. Also, Kirk Thornton’s portrayal is kinda like Saito, gruff and no nonsense.
@@michaelbandada9887 well it's cool to hear familiar voices in these games...... and since I've been going back through 4 and 5 again I also like to point out that Lex Lang also voices Ling Tong as well.....
I wonder how DW8 plays on the ps5 i havent yet seen any info on it. Ill prolly have to just try it and hope for the best. I havent played a DW game since 3 but very interested in getting back into it
I loved looking at these videos. My first DW was 6 and it left me with a bad impression of the series. But I recently got DW8XLCE as a gift and read a 500pg cliffnotes version of the book. After watching all of these videos ended up grabbing the full version of the book, watched Red Cliff and tracked down the rest of the games because honestly, I realized just how much I have been missing out on. Thank you.
Next to DW5 XL, this is one of the best DW games ever. And this is quite possibly my favorite DW game of all time and the first one I ever got into the series with! Nothing could really top this in terms of stylish combat, fun, and content! Don't get me wrong, DW5 XL is awesome as well!
To me, what I hate about DW after 4 or 5 is the soldiers and generals. You think with max stat character in 4 you could mess everyone up. You could be more wrong. The soldiers know how to block your attacks and beat the shit out of you. On top of that, the arrows and bows were really annoying. But that made the series so great. I felt like a real battle. in DW8, aint nobody stops me from running through and straight-up kill the general.
For me that's how six and seven were as well you didn't really feel rewarded when when you cleave through an entire Camp filled with enemies especially if you're playing on hard difficulty and it just seems easy because how the way its scaled....... and yes the bow an arrow guys were obnoxious especially when you were getting staggered every single time from one of their arrows God forbid you try to get on your f****** horse lol
Should I buy this on switch? Not just because it's portable but because I legit have more space left on my Switch than my ps4 or ps5. That and the fact that the Switch version includes all the dlc.
Saw the game is on Sale on steam, had to find a video to see if it's worth the sale price cause I've seen how bad DW9 was, and I haven't touched a DW game since 4 and 5. So this video makes me feel like buying DW8 😌
Thanks Chris, I'm a huge DW fan and just recently purchased DW8 for PC, but upon hearing you liked the Vita version I kinda pulled the trigger and bought it again for my PSV. What are your thoughts on the Warriors Orochi series?
Iron will is definitely a terminology that I'd agree with. I'm also in the same boat where the DW8 Platinum is concerned, pure dedicated obsession is required. Also, I loved all these videos Chris, how much disc switching did you do for all that footage bro? haha. I actually forgot about the vanilla HD version of DW5 that we never got, I imported it years ago to binge on the easy achievements, might dig it out & upload some Musou Mode let's play material, when I get some free time. 👌
SereneGamer Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed them. I did a lot of disc swapping haha. For each title, I didnt play the vanilla version alone. I'd play Xtreme Legends and add the vanilla stuff to it. I wish I could import DW5 on the 360. But I'd also have to import a Japanese console. lol
i always go back to 4 and im playing threw that now and having a blast. i just found out 8 XL is on the switch so im getting that next to give it a shot as i only played 4 back in the day when it came out. i did try a tactics at one point and didnt like it. so i stopped playing the DW's all together. now years later im playing 4 with a good hope for 8 XL on the switch thanks for the heads up on what to expect from the game.
DW8XL is probably one of the best packages to come from the Warriors series imo. And the version on Switch comes with all the DLC, so even more content!
DW2: 7/10 (Even though it doesn't have much to do after maxing everyone out, I enjoyed playing it.) DW3: 8.5/10 (The XL expansion enhances my enjoyment for DW3.) DW4: 8.5/10 (It's between this and DW3 as my personal favorite DW game to play.) DW5: 7.5/10 (The Empires title for this one is probably my favorite Empires game to play.) DW6: 6/10 (Renbu system and lack of stories for certain characters really hurt this game in my opinion.) DW7: 6.5/10 (Outside of the story, some of the old stages from DW2-DW5, and Legend Mode in the XL expansion, there's nothing else that I really liked from this game. I find the gameplay meh in comparison to the classic Warriors games and DW8.) DW8: 8.5/10 (My favorite of the modern Warriors games.)
@@darkenedpsynoid Thank you very much! I still have the PS3 version and it is perfectly fine. I also recently got Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate on PS4 and it's a PS3 game originally but I don't mind. I love these musou games. I got Samurai Warriors 5 and it is so much fun. I'm very happy with the games.
I've only played 8, 4, and 3 since they were the most praised but honestly I am still in love with 4. Some points I'd just like to state as well that you might have missed. I feel like 8 is too much focused on visuals and fun while 4 has this more immersive China feeling atmosphere to it. DW8 is too much sugarcoated that Characters look like modern generic looking RPG characters nowadays. The moves are too complex. You can't even control for some of it. Plus during Rage Attacks you can't even see the moves of the character especially when there's too many enemies. The visual attack effects are too overfantasized and so unrealistic that it doesn't fit for an ancient Chinese battle anymore. Plus the oriental music element is missing which reduces the immersiveness. The acting also is somewhat feels sickening considering how many iterations it had now. I'd much prefer 4 or even 3's voice acting. Cut scenes are also minimal which decreases the immersiveness of story and battle. I feel like 8 is more focused on combos and fun which I enjoyed as well but given its DW title, it doesn't feel like a DW world anymore I just can't enjoy it as much as 3 or 4 did. For me DW4=9/10 DW3=7.5/10 DW8=4/10. Anyway I admire your dedication to the DW series.
8 is really good. Personally I wish they had brought back aggressive smart soldier AI from 2+3, the classic bodyguards and added the level of 7's storytelling to 8, along with making battles less scripted. If they could have brought that to the table for 8, it would be my favorite. The weak soldiers continues to be a massive drawback in later installments but I would still recommend 8 to anyone trying to get into the series for the first time. 3 followed by 4 remains my favorite, however. I hope 10 will do great things and bring back the series to greatness after the "wtf" that is 9.
never a fan of DW cause im more favor on Sengoku Basara game. but i got to admit as i did try to play this franchise. i pick some games that i think i love and i hate. DW7 is by far my favorite in both gameplay and story. it was basically a romance of the three kingdom that the DW is missing from many entry they had. sure there are clone weapons and all but i did care less about them. DW8 Story gives me the impression of What the hell happened with the story? but got to admit the Hypothetical routes are good additions too. never played DW9 as i dont really care and this franchise are rare to find in my country.
xD my first dynasty warriors game is dw8 empires played it on vita all night and every day! Yesterday i just started to play dw3 the peons are so damn strong (which makes me want a difficulty settings 😂)
Hi bro. I have a question; While you played DW8&XL, Did you enjoy ambition mode? I personally loved it, and still play it. I very much like the idea of building own styled village, upgrading different buildings and forming relationships with officers. I very much also liked the details like putting own supervisor with own lines for each place like teahouse and barracks. Found out its also good way to upgrade officers or buy better weapons if story modes Blacksmith has nothing to offer :D Nice change for always starting the game at the battlefield
I quite enjoyed Ambition Mode up until I completed it. Literally every building maxed out and every region subjugated. Now I mostly play in Free Mode, but I use Ambition Mode to buy Stat upgrades and level ups.
i know you didnt like dw2 much but i loved the a.i in the what i call the first one it felt like a real battle and each unit was a tough fight at the start and you felt unstopable when you leveled up and had max body gaurds thats why it will always be my favortie cause the ai in the first 4 was amazing but mastered in 2 and there were just more troops on the battlefield that actually moved and did stuff to help the battle progress and sometimes you had to go back and help out other officers just so they didnt fall and you didnt have to worry about your main camp the difficulty in the modern ones is annoying its dumb a.i met with one hit kills dw2 was i found more skill based block and attack and you had to fight as part of an army felt amazing i heard they are now gonna remaster 2 of dynasty warriors games with dw being mentioned and i know thee was no voice actors for 2 but its the gameplay loop for me was just fantastic please dont give dw2 a 3 and then give dw9 a bloody 7 i like your content but i played dw2 when it was released man if i could go back to those days sitting on the livng room floor with a old sony fat tv and remebering wishing my ps2 to run the game as in the uk it was on a cd which most ps2 struggled to run anyway good luck to you but shit on dw2 again and ill have to hunt you down and force you to play it until you love it! have a good day!
Your going off Nostalgia with saying Dynasty Warriors 2 was the best....... you know for a damn well fact that 3,4,5,6,7 and 8 have a lot better quality of life mechanics than 2...... I would love to say that Dynasty Warriors 4 has the best but that would just be my Nostalgia saying that....... Dynasty Warriors 3 was the first game I played but Dynasty Warriors 4 was the one that I really got involved with the story of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and we don't even talk about 9........
My biggest complaint is the morale/troop system got removed in 6-8. Your moves don't feel as impactful. In the old ones you can kill grunts and lower enemy morale to help your army. In the new ones you slaughter 1000 troops and your entire army loses until you do the forced objective I say 5>8>3>4>7>2>6
Indeed absolutely correct and that is my biggest problem with these games going forward since 6......... ever since Dynasty Warriors 6 came out yeah that mechanic has been absolutely missed and it's f****** stupid when you clear the whole map and then the commander gets attacked by a random reinforcement party and they die literally within 15 seconds of the enemy making contact with them that's when I basically gave up on the Dynasty Warriors games because 8 still has that problem even though everybody in the comment section here is praising it I still can't get behind it as a good DW game so for me 3,4 and 5 were the best ones and then seven for its story only.......
As a lifetime fan of the series too, but getting burnt out of the games after 7, I think this video convinced me to finally get 8 after all these years lol. 7 was my least favorite of the series (yup, I actually liked 6 more). so much so, it made me swore off the series (thank goodness for Samurai Warriors!). Been itching to get back to DW, so I might as well now, since the game is cheap now and 9 doesn't appeal to me at all (I'm sure I'll get that game too down the line...). Nice channel BTW, just marathoned this Musou review thing you did and it was great! Any chance you'll review Capcom's foray into the "Warriors style? games / Sengoku Basara series? ... or atleast their American releases of course. And if you've played them, your opinions?
I was planning on talking about Warriors clones for this year's Musou May but the scripts were becoming pretty hefty, so I had to shelve them for now until I have more time. This year's theme will be Legacy and I'll be reviewing and playing a bunch of games in Koei Tecmo's repertoire that have either been forgotten or never had the chance of growing a legacy. As far as Sengoku Basara goes, I really enjoyed Devil Kings when I first came out. I haven't played it since rebuying it. But I dont enjoy Sengoku Basara 3 as much as i do the Warriors series of games. I still have yet to import any Japanese only titles.
Same here, I have been feeling more inspired to rekindle the fun of the Warriors series and everything I see from 9 points me back to the PS4 extreme legends game. I think as a fan of the original formula and the bombastic storytelling its the best pathway to experience the Wu, Wei, Shu, Jin realm again..
Just info... DW 8E have more weapon. Even the weapon that has been deleted. Yah i feel bored too at first. But if you know what are you doing. Its fun, make a harem kingdom or to get most expensive title. Or imagining if you married with those characters and how the kids looks like hahaha. Its fun more of it you can get various dlc from DW9 save file. Other than that if your friend have a kingdom (online fiture), you can invade it. Its really fun. But it lacks of cutscene...
DW6 used to be my favorite but now? When I play it it leaves me unsatisfied. The campaigns in DW8 were way more satisfying and ruined the earlier games for me. I also think the combat was vastly improved from earlier iterations
DW 4 my first and what got me into DW. DW 6 Empires is my second. Empire mode lacked 'fun', play it for Officer mode. DW8 I joke and call it Extremely Incomplete Edition because, aside from personal campaign, it's Empire Mode Lite is what turned me off. Ambition mode should have been the added feature to Empire, not its own thing. Imagine a DW Empire mode that had a base that you build, or even RTS elements.
im here cause i keep getting the main menu song from 5 in my head....but i cant find it :"( so i started looking for my xbox360 version of the game to ju8st play it again (loved free mode with ur own personalized char), unable to find it ill just buy another copy of the newer ones, but unsure which to buy.... my fav thing to do was create a char, all my siblings had 1, my father had 1, and id put them as leaders of provinces close by so i could capture them and make them join my empire, i still know exactly how they looked and which weapons they had so i can easily recreate it with their own chosen names (we changed our fathers name to fatso and gave him Guan Yu's dress XD) heard allot of hate about he newer ones tho, would they give me the nostalgic feeling mixed with melancholie that i so desire? or should i just keep looking? i have like...4 different CD's of DW5 cause 3 broke (handicapped brother cant handle CD's) so im sure i can find 1 of those 2 if i look long enough.
@@mr.mimikyu2342 DW8 also has a lot to distract you from the road to platinum, so you can easily wrack up the hours without much progress to that goal.
Bout to order it and orochi 3 on amazon. Really pumped cause ive lost my copy of 7 for my musou fix. Horrible feeling. I have dragon quest heroes 2 but its far from the typical musou game
@Chris Gilbart Im a fan of your content and and a recent subcriber, iv ordered dynasty warriors 8 XL complete because of your video convinced me to get it :) I was wandering whos your favourate character and the one you play the most? I know your probably too busy to reply to this but im wandering, i see you play many characters in gameplay so its hard to tell from that, id love to know your answer :)
I like these games but one thing I don’t like are the levels I preferred the levels of dynasty warriors 6 they were big and had tons of soldiers fighting.
I got 100% of the achievements but I'll still go back and play it on 360 every now and then. I would personally say that i like DW8XLCE more than SW2XL but i done know if i would say it's my favourite.
Dynasty Warriors 4 is undoubtedly my all time favorite, but DW 8 is phenomenal as well
Imo Dw3 was better but thats just for for me as it was my intro to series tho Dw4 is most ppls favourite and i get why
Bro, you watch everything I watch.
I think DW5 XL is where they perfected it imo. I hate they took out the duels though.but other than that 🔥
3, 5, and 8 are top tier.
@@cameront7804 actually 5 is most ppls favorite. 4 sophisicated like tekken 4. Undrappreciated by masses who prefer 5
Dynasty warriors 8 xtreme legends complete edition is my favorite dw game
My biggest complain with 8-7 is that the enemy soldiers and officers are so passive and weak. I remember downloading on 5 on my pc and was surprised because I had forgotten was it was like to have to think just a little about how to fight enemies. I also don’t like the costumes and personality changes they’ve made but those are minor things. I think maybe in their endeavor to fill the battlefield with as many ppl as possible we’ve lost some quality and makes things very unsatisfying
I'm glad you have talked about each entry though since I love the series I'm glad to see someone else discuss this very underrated franchise.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the videos. It wad also nice to get your opinion on each game too. I hope to see you down in the comments again with the next Musou May.
I know right! It's like you need a level of expertise to fully appreciate this genre.
@@ChrisGildart Can you tell what meme behind the "CON!"
I've heard it on a Pokémon Parody video of Spéedrunning Omega Ruby version (Matty Burrito)
Mew is in Space and he says it the same way you do ...is there a connection or am I overthinking?
It's a Star Trek reference from The Wrath of Khan.
That was a change first implemented in DW4: Empires. A very welcome change indeed!
@UnWaifu Herp derp
Edited to DW5
dw 8 empires is the perfect one for me, so many char and none of them have duplicate weapon! and i can make my own story in so many ways. still playing it until today! xD
hi Chris, just watched all your vids about dynasty warriors pros and cons, gonna say it was a pleasure because i have played since number 2 and seeing someone speak about the games in such care and detail was really heart warming, honestly don't ever give up on youtube, everything from your editing and commentary it was amazing, the community deserves someone like you. subscribed now and cant wait to watch more you have to offer. sending love from the uk.
Thanks a lot! Always happy to see people enjoying the content I make.
I am so so glad to have found this channel! This video made me decide to start playing dynasty warriors 8 for the pc!
Thanks dude! It always makes me happy to hear people are enjoying the content. Hope you enjoy the game.
Great review. I haven't played Dynasty Warriors since the PS2 era. I am excited to get back into the series. You sold me on Dynasty Warriors 8!!!!
Yeah, I never understood why the narrator wasn't voiced. If you turn off subtitles, it even turns them off during those sections.
Wow man 9 outta 10! Really appreciate ur commitment to this series 😁 keep going strong 💪
The biggest issue with DW8 imo is cutscenes and voice acting. God, this game feels so emotionless compared to DW7
I mean, look at Sun Jian and Sun Ce's death scenes.
Shu also added Xu Shu and his sword+hook was so much fun to use
The passion this guy has while making this review...holly shit!!! Instant subscribe and buy for this game, although im not into this genre :))
Glad you enjoyed the video, even if you don't like Musou games. This is the reason I make videos and seeing a comment like this really makes my day!
I use to play the classic Dynasty Warriors at my cousin’s house when I was a kid. Only recently, have I decided to jump back into the musou genre and I think I’m gonna start with this one. I also plan on playing many of the spin offs if I like this enough
aye, I Really want 8, I never got to play it before
It's really good and I'd highly recommend it. Especially for PS4 or Vita.
@Chris Gildart I enjoyed 8 and 7 more than any other broadbull I it is a awesome game
came to this series with Kessen 2.
DW4 has a bit more chinese instrumentation in its soundtrack. It's still the hard rock sound that most Warriors games have though.
Red hare looks amazing and dominanting again. Rather than just being a normal.horse which is red
I bought the PS4 version of this game a few weeks ago and still playing it. I like the minor improvements and the affinity system. Still have a lot of trophies to get. A lot.
I hear ya. I'm still working toward the platinum. lol
@@ChrisGildart just a few miscellaneous stuff like the movie and Xtreme Legends stages trophies. I'm not exactly aiming for 100% completion. I wouldn't go that far.
Yeah, don't go all the way to 100%. Only I should be stupid enough to try to go that far. :P
@@ChrisGildart thks. I only go for trophies related to the stories, stages and other miscelleanous stuff.
*_TWO PLATINUMS_*
*Pros*
*So many maps, and they're all new and entirely unique from 6 and 7.
*Cons*
*The song remixes are pretty forced and underwhelming
*The training center in Ambition Mode hardly raises level at all (lol)
*Xun Yu and the DLC weapons' EX attacks are restricted to Empires
*Some of the story-mode star-objectives are very ambiguous, and there are some minor glitches scattered around (i.e. enemy officers that are supposed to move somewhere don't, prevent you from completing the objective properly.)
Thks for the more detailed list of Pros and Cons. I own the PS4 version for a year or so now and I haven't stop playing whenever I get the chance.
This is the type of comment I was looking for. Thank you!! 💯
DW 8 Complete Edition is the one that proper “converted” me, love it!
@@ChrisGildart Agree to disagree.
Man I'm 70h on the vita version 🙂(dw8xl) very nice game . I have it for the last 4-5 years , but it was on my back log and never give it a chance , but recently decided to do it , and I was pleasantly surprised 🙂
Nice video 👍🙂
I personally don't really like these newer titles. I mean they're good games, but I fell in love with DW partly because of its setting and atmosphere. Whenever I play older titles, like 2-5, I feel like I'm on a battlefield in ancient China. But these new ones look so cartoony, from character designs to the madness that's going on on the screen. There's so many bodies flying around, you barely even see your own character.
I personally never found it to be bad. I enjoy the over the top action of the newer titles.
@@ChrisGildart Nah, I didn't mean to patch. I hope they make another open-world game, but do it better. Don't want them to abandon the idea.
Same feeling. felt like an ancient war with too much sugarcoating.
I'M SO GLAD SOMEONE ELSE SAID IT

Dynasty Warriors 8 - The game which DW7 should’ve been to begin with.
@Char Aznable I'd agree, the death scenes in 7 did make me cry...
And Liu Bei slashing his chair... That was good.
8 kinda was okay... Pang Tong's death was sad...
Don't get me started with 9, majority of them just flops on a chair -_-
Great review for a fantastic franchise that I’ve enjoyed since the late 90’s! Your enthusiasm for the franchise is inspiring… keep up the great work!

I've heard it even has DLC that wasn't given to North Americans too. Can't confirm though.
@@ChrisGildart Damn, that's cool, I'll get it eventually, will you do a review on that version?
It's hard to say. Probably unlikely because there wouldnt be much new to say, just talk about how it runs and any additional content.
Chris Gildart ohhhhhh. Well lol in that case I'll agree haha. And yeah, nothing beats the love for these games. Hype for WO4 Btw? (:
I'm both hyped and concerned with WO4. I don't know if it'll be able to beat WO3U for best bang for your buck, but I'm fairly confident I'll enjoy it more the WAS and DW9.
Just finished watching every single #MusouMay video, bravo Chris. The passion you displayed was to the Xtreme. While I may not agree with all of your points, each video was an absolute pleasure to watch. Hell, I was almost late to work because I refused to leave the house until the video ended lol. 😂

Xiahou Dun weapon style is AWESOME😃👍,wish I could play this game one day😞
Tbh, I can’t help but think that if Dynasty Warriors 6, even with the renbu system, came out with no clones and no cut characters and everyone having a story mode, it may actually be pretty beloved.
I currently have about 500 hours into DW8XLCE and still don't have the platinum. Mind you I have been just playing stages to have fun sometimes.
Best Dynasty Warriors ever! Those hypotheticals, fighting mechanics with switch weapon and weapon's affinity, and then actual useful and tactical bodyguards, Mmuach. Perfect
I personally didn't like the affinity aspect of weapons, and i miss the different peon types of older games. Everything else tho, mmuah!
RPG like Dota 2 things like Attack speed, crit on heavy attacks sometimes, armour values.
I Adore that Rygar reference the ps2 game was a classic.
That IP needs to make a comeback.
I played DW4 a lot on PC in my childhood and still sometimes return to it. DW6 - i tried it, deleted after less than hour, absolute dogshit.
DW8 - godlike, so huge amout of content O___O You can spend so many hours there
The exclusive ps4 graphic update + playing the game on a ps5 + a 4k tv
Ugh it’s so dreamy.
I got a PS5 last year and it is awesome!
I want them to return the unique item in dw5 series. Customizing unique item is what make children keep playing for the fun. Bringing elephant/tiger, faster rage filling, etc
And also add skill tree from dw6. Teenager loves to decides the skill path their favorite character have.
These 2 feature will make the best dw ever.
Yeah. I See Now Most Of The Graphics(EX:Charachter Dialouge Portraits) Look Similar To 7
Also The Completion Thing Isnt A Problem. The Game Is Just About Getting More Powerful As You Hack And Slash. All In Good Fun. (IMO)
#DynastyWarriorsForLife
Thanks for this! I’m picking up this for the switch tomorrow, so this review helped! :)
Thanks! Glad it helped, hope you enjoy it.
"The horses turns really weird on the PS4"
Meh, the PC is weirder, they just snaps at the direction where you wanted them to face. Maybe it's because of the keyboard controls, maybe.
The only issue i have with 8 is having to choose between a few officers. I much prefer 3,4, and 5 where you can just pick a character and go.
Great videos would love if you would do this for Samurai Warriors and Warriors Orochi
Xavier Dennis Maybe next year's Musou May.
its 2021..I've played a few DW games extensively in the past. it seems the consensus is that DW8 XL is pretty much the best there is and 9 is total trash?
4 and 8, yes
Dynasty Warriors 8 is the last time we’ll hear the OG English dub of the Dynasty Warriors series since Dynasty Warriors 9 has a brand new cast for the English dub
We’re gonna be missing the amazing voices of Kirk Thornton and Douglas Rye big time
Don't know if you'll see this comment or not but most of those voice actors were around since Dynasty Warriors 4 right because most of the voice actors in Dynasty Warriors 4 came straight from Rurouni Kenshin.......
@@darkenedpsynoid oh yep, they are!
Richard Epcar (Dong Zhuo)- Hiko Seijuro
Lex Lang (Zhuge Liang)- Sanosuke Sagara
Richard Cansino (Pang Tong)- Kenshin Himura
Terence Stone (Zhao Yun)- Aoshi Shinomori
Kirk Thornton (Xiahou Dun)- Hajime Saito
Jamieson Price (Lu Bu)- Usui, the blind dude with a turtle shell as a shield
Wendee Lee (Lady Zhenji)- Yumi Komagata and Yahiko Myojin
Steve Blum (Sun Jian*)- Makoto Shishio
*-Steve Blum was the voice of Sun Jian in Dynasty Warriors 4
@@michaelbandada9887 thats rad thank you for the reply.........did not know that lex lang voiced zhuge liang but now i hear it clear as day
@@darkenedpsynoid you’re welcome, I gotta say that Lex Lang’s portrayal of Zhuge Liang is soft and calm unlike his portrayal of Sanosuke which is a gung ho, boisterous brawler.
Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed the videos. Hope you have a good time with these games!
You absolutely should. This video came out 6 years ago and I am literally playing it right now.
Thanks Chris, I'm a huge DW fan and just recently purchased DW8 for PC, but upon hearing you liked the Vita version I kinda pulled the trigger and bought it again for my PSV.
What are your thoughts on the Warriors Orochi series?
Love the Orochi series. That's gonna be the theme for Musou May this year!
DW2: 7/10 (Even though it doesn't have much to do after maxing everyone out, I enjoyed playing it.)
DW3: 8.5/10 (The XL expansion enhances my enjoyment for DW3.)
DW4: 8.5/10 (It's between this and DW3 as my personal favorite DW game to play.)
DW5: 7.5/10 (The Empires title for this one is probably my favorite Empires game to play.)
DW6: 6/10 (Renbu system and lack of stories for certain characters really hurt this game in my opinion.)
DW7: 6.5/10 (Outside of the story, some of the old stages from DW2-DW5, and Legend Mode in the XL expansion, there's nothing else that I really liked from this game. I find the gameplay meh in comparison to the classic Warriors games and DW8.)
DW8: 8.5/10 (My favorite of the modern Warriors games.)
Well, shoot. I just bought the ps3 version. I didn't realize there was this extreme edition...
You probably won't see this but hopefully you're able to get the version you wanted and had a fun time with it
@@darkenedpsynoid Thank you very much!
@@Faustustopheles good........glad to hear it
I've only played 8, 4, and 3 since they were the most praised but honestly I am still in love with 4.
I agree with you same thing with six and seven some of the stuff was just over the top when it comes to graphics......4 i feel did it best
I don't know I think the AI was the smartest in 4
never a fan of DW cause im more favor on Sengoku Basara game.
but i got to admit as i did try to play this franchise. i pick some games that i think i love and i hate.
Hi bro. I have a question;
While you played DW8&XL, Did you enjoy ambition mode?
I personally loved it, and still play it. I very much like the idea of building own styled village, upgrading different buildings and forming relationships with officers.
I very much also liked the details like putting own supervisor with own lines for each place like teahouse and barracks. Found out its also good way to upgrade officers or buy better weapons if story modes Blacksmith has nothing to offer :D
Nice change for always starting the game at the battlefield
I quite enjoyed Ambition Mode up until I completed it. Literally every building maxed out and every region subjugated. Now I mostly play in Free Mode, but I use Ambition Mode to buy Stat upgrades and level ups.
Have you ever thought of a Pro and Con video for Dynasty Warriors NEXT?
I have no way of recording gameplay footage for Next.
What is your favorite hypothetical story mode in 8?
I've honestly never really thought about it. lol
did you noticed that during in game cutscenes, the backgrounds are very blurred out when highlighting character interactions
I might planning on buying this game on Switch, when it's on sale in eShop. 🙂
The Switch port is actually pretty decent.
i know you didnt like dw2 much but i loved the a.i in the what i call the first one it felt like a real battle and each unit was a tough fight at the start and you felt unstopable when you leveled up and had max body gaurds thats why it will always be my favortie cause the ai in the first 4 was amazing but mastered in 2 and there were just more troops on the battlefield that actually moved and did stuff to help the battle progress and sometimes you had to go back and help out other officers just so they didnt fall and you didnt have to worry about your main camp the difficulty in the modern ones is annoying its dumb a.i met with one hit kills dw2 was i found more skill based block and attack and you had to fight as part of an army felt amazing i heard they are now gonna remaster 2 of dynasty warriors games with dw being mentioned and i know thee was no voice actors for 2 but its the gameplay loop for me was just fantastic please dont give dw2 a 3 and then give dw9 a bloody 7 i like your content but i played dw2 when it was released man if i could go back to those days sitting on the livng room floor with a old sony fat tv and remebering wishing my ps2 to run the game as in the uk it was on a cd which most ps2 struggled to run anyway good luck to you but shit on dw2 again and ill have to hunt you down and force you to play it until you love it! have a good day!
In the new ones you slaughter 1000 troops and your entire army loses until you do the forced objective
I say 5>8>3>4>7>2>6
Well since you gave dw 8 (9/10) I will forgive you about dw 5's (7/10)
These videos on the warriors series are the greatest....now tell us how to unlock all the weapons in DW8 and i'll be set.
Tremendous game actually.
Honestly one of the best!
Think it's unfair to rate DW2 so low, it was amazing at the time of release. Obviously they improved on that concept over time
im here cause i keep getting the main menu song from 5 in my head....but i cant find it :"( so i started looking for my xbox360 version of the game to ju8st play it again (loved free mode with ur own personalized char), unable to find it ill just buy another copy of the newer ones, but unsure which to buy....
my fav thing to do was create a char, all my siblings had 1, my father had 1, and id put them as leaders of provinces close by so i could capture them and make them join my empire, i still know exactly how they looked and which weapons they had so i can easily recreate it with their own chosen names (we changed our fathers name to fatso and gave him Guan Yu's dress XD)
heard allot of hate about he newer ones tho, would they give me the nostalgic feeling mixed with melancholie that i so desire? or should i just keep looking? i have like...4 different CD's of DW5 cause 3 broke (handicapped brother cant handle CD's) so im sure i can find 1 of those 2 if i look long enough.
For me this game is a 10/10 absolutely love it
DW8 has to be the one game I continuously go back to.
@@ChrisGildart same here with me as I'm yet to platinum it

We need a Dynasty Warriors 10 for the Ps5
I like these games but one thing I don’t like are the levels I preferred the levels of dynasty warriors 6 they were big and had tons of soldiers fighting.
I find the stages in DW8 have the most soldiers. At least on PS4. But I do like the stage design of DW6 a lot.
Dynasty Warriors 6 had some missing characters same in 6 Empires as well with Dynasty Warriors 7 and 7 Empires..
I believe Samurai Warriors 2 (+XL) is THE BEST, still playing it, on my ps2!
I got 100% of the achievements but I'll still go back and play it on 360 every now and then. I would personally say that i like DW8XLCE more than SW2XL but i done know if i would say it's my favourite.
is Dynasty Warriors 8XL CE Dynasty Warriors 8+ Dynasty Warriors 8 XL? or only DW8XL? (without DW8)
It's both the base game and XL together.
Dope video
Thid needs to be re-released on Xbox
Please! Xbox never got Xtreme Legends so that would be awesome.
