This video was great, I love the filming locations!! 99% of us aren’t in Hollywood and would like to see these locations so the only way is videos like yours, you also did a great job lining up the landmarks and showing correct perspective. So excited for more! I have read about the old DeliLu studios before and that little area where town was placed for the show. Here is a link to some cool info I found some time back: www.retroweb.com/40acres_final_years.html
I read the title and got excited. Watched Andy Griffith show growing up with my parents, dad loves it. The research and effort put forth to put this together doesn't go unappreciated, thank you for your hard work Adam!

Watching the old Andy Griffith Show reruns has gotten me through "The 'Rona" lockdown (and semi-lockdown). The enduring warmth and whimsical humor are a reminder of an era when there was at least a tip o' the hat to human decency. Great way to wind down in the evening. Thanks for this really interesting background info -- and welcome back!
@kes....I listened to some Andy Griffith interviews, where he was quite candid about the show. In one, he observed the culture Mayberry portrayed, never existed anywhere in the USA. In effect, it was a fantasy. That was--is--the power of illusion. Indeed, there are fans that to this day, that will curse you if you say otherwise. Anyway, as a boy I loved this show.
I couldn't agree more. We all were kinda decent to each other once upon a time...or so it seemed. I know people had moral compasses back then or keep their weirdness quiet.😊
The Andy Griffith Show is my favorite show ever, I’m 62 years old and grew up watching this great show, I still watch it today, great video Adam my favorite
Me too. My parents homeschooled me and every day Andy Griffith reruns were on TV at 12 so we’d watch it while we ate lunch. I’m 41 now and I still watch an episode almost every day while I eat lunch. One of life’s simple pleasures.
Chad Baxter I'm thinking that Adam needs to do a road trip and meet her in person. Can you imagine the behind the scenes stories that she could tell. Some one needs to interview her for them.
I have watched this show repeatedly for such a big part of my life, and yet it was filmed so long ago, meeting a living cast member would be almost surreal. It's hard to explain, but hopefully other fans of the show understand somewhat...
Thanks so much! I love stuff like this! I love and miss the old days! I grew up watching this show and I still watch on ME-TV. Its amazing what you do. I'd love to see more! Maybe Gomer Pyle, Hogan's Heroes, Bewitched, and more from that back lot. Again, thanks my friend ❤❤

Fav show of all time Andy Griffith Show. Thanx for the tour of Mayberry Set. Wish I coulda been there when the Backlot was still there. Very Cool Indeed.
Hey Adam, thank you for doing this video. My grandpa was a huge fan of the show. I'd get off of work and go visit him and I'd stay a few hours and usually would leave after The Andy Griffith Show was over. He passed back on April 10th. I hadn't seen him in about two months because of all the Rona stuff. I work with a Dr and didn't wanna risk taking it to him. Some of my best memories will be of him laughing while we sat and watched the show. No matter how many times he had seen an episode he would always laugh just as hard as the first time. Thank you for this vlog and all the time and dedication that went into making this video. He would have loved to watch this. Stay safe man.
Adam, thank you so much for all you did on the making of this video. You really did an awesome job pointing out where the buildings used to be. I’m 58, and this show is my all time favorite. I really like how you took us to Meyer’s Lake, what a treat. June of 2019, I took the family down to Mount Airy, N.C., and I had the privilege of meeting Betty Lynn (Thelma Lou), had my photo taken with her, and she even kissed me on the cheek. I share your enthusiasm. The Andy Griffith show has always been my favorite TV show. I still watch it over and over. I've done alot of the filming locations research myself and have visited Franklin resivour.
This reminded me of the time I went to my friend's house and there was someone sitting on his couch that looked like Ron Howard. I got a little closer to him and realized it was Ron Howard! He was there because his Dad knew him because he wrote some of the episodes for Happy Days. Oh and he also wrote some of the original episodes for Laverne & Shirley
Love it! I grew up about a quarter mile from the "back forty". I used to walk past on my way to jr. high, and you could see the tower from Hogan's Heroes behind that berm, too. La Ballona creek was the other side, and we could see Mayberry and Gomer's sets from it.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Mr. Woo. The lake scenery with the road also reminded me of another favorite TV show shot in that area. Combat! starring Vic Morrow in 1962 when I was all of 7 years old!
I'm glad you're back. We're all looking forward to seeing what you have in store for us. BTW, I've watched other YT channels do "filming locations for the Andy Griffith Show," and none of them measured up to this video. A lot of work and research went into this one. Well done!
I absolutely love this video. One of my favorites. I live close to the real Mayberry “Mount Airy” North Carolina. My husband and I actually got married at the “Mayberry” courthouse here. Andy plays a HUGE part of our lives. Thelma Lou just celebrated her 94th birthday. Also, last year they threw her a huge birthday party at the Loaded Goat. (A bar themed after the episode) thank you for this episode!!
Loved this vlog! When my husband heard it he said, "Oh! Will you play this for me later?". I am sure he will want to see many of your past vlogs! So glad to see you back. It has not been the same without you. Thank you Adam!
Aw, thank you! My mom loved the Andy Griffith Show. We all watched it after dinner back in the 1960s when I was a kid. When she had dementia and I was taking care of her it was one of the last TV shows besides baseball that she could still pay attention to. She just passed away in late July.
I think my favorite episode was The Haunted House. It’s truly amazing how this show appealed to such a wide range of people. We still watch the reruns fairly regularly. Really enjoyed this one it was definitely a trip down memory lane. Thanks!
Fantastic video. Love the amount of time and research you put into these videos. Thank you for never just phoning it in. Loved watching re-runs of this as a kid.

Thanks so much, Adam, for the Andy Griffith tour. I am actually a little surprised and very relieved to know that I am not the only person who just can't get enough of Mayberry and its filming locations. In fact, I had actually done some of the research you presented, and had also found some of the locations. I had planned to visit the Mayberry locations someday, but seeing them on your video is truly fantastic and very helpful. I can't help but feel a bit saddened by how much everything has changed, but it's just nice knowing that these memorable locations are real, and that you can still stand in front of the Mayberry courthouse. Thanks again. It was really enjoyable. Bill
THANKS ADAM! I never realized how much I treasured your vlogs until you were not there. You are always cutting edge informative and interesting with your content. Dare I say the "Number 1 Vlogger on UA-cam"? You're the Best!
These are the ones I really like because Andy Griffith happens to be one of the shows my mom watches all the time along with I Love Lucy and Mama's family. I always show her these because it's something that they had no way of knowing or finding out back in the day unless you were from Hollyweird. You put all of it in a nice clean fully explained, researched and documented package and she always gets a kick out it. Much appreciated.
Thank you for this. Will watch this with my dad, he grew up with The Andy Griffith Show, and introduced it to us kids and now my favorite show! Clean, wholesome family show. Barney was the BEST! 😊
I agree. I used to watch this show growing up (50 yrs ago I was 12) with my parents. My parents didn't always let me watch TV but this show they allowed me to watch because it was clean and pure.
That group of buildings next to Mayberry and at the end of the dirt road that was used for out of town shots is the outdoor set for Hogan's Heroes. So the folks of Mayberry were living next to a German POW camp.
It is detailed filming locations videos such as this that won me as a subscriber. Some of your other content has been great as well. But here your love of filming really shows through. Thank you.
Adam this blew my mind and I am grateful to you for this video. I have a story for you. The Andy Griffith show for myself and for many is a refuge from life's challenges. Immersing yourself in Mayberry is food for the soul as you know. Here is the story. I work at Indiana University as an IT computer programmer and I specialized in VR technology. In 2015 IU alumni, Mark Cuban, donated to IU to help our athletics department with new technologies for sports media technology. Part of this donation was to send a delegation of IU leaders and engineers to meet with technology companies that Mr. Cuban works with. I was lucky enough to be part of this delegation. As you can imagine we didn't have much time for sight seeing, but our schedule brought us to RED studios Hollywood. There was a brief mention that this space had be Desilu Productions, but I had no idea of the other depths of American art and history that once walked/worked in these silent halls. When I look back it feels like I unknowingly walked through Mayberry and a bygone era of Hollywood and it gives me a chill. Truly amazing.
A fun fact, the same backlot from this show was used in the Star Trek episode City on the Edge of Forever. Our heroes walk right by Floyd's Barbershop in a scene. I love the work you put into finding these places, seeing how much they've changed!
Best video yet, Woo. Good job. I appreciate all your hard work researching this. It was great to live through this wonderful memory of my mom (who loved this show). It’s now my favorite show. This video was really special. Thank you, man.
Welcome back Adam the WOO !!!great that you recharged your batteries you deserve it but glad your back appreciate your blog an the knowledge and energy you bring each day THANKS !!!!
Sometimes I dont understand how you figure things out. When a whole town area is gone and now just a big warehouse or something else. Its amazing how you are able to line things up and help us imagine the former TV or movie life of an area. Just a few telephone poles, dirt hill, trees or dip in the road and you reconstruct it all for us. Great investigative skills. Thank you.

Bill
Glad you enjoyed it and hope you make it out someday to stand there as well .
THANKS ADAM! I never realized how much I treasured your vlogs until you were not there. You are always cutting edge informative and interesting with your content. Dare I say the "Number 1 Vlogger on UA-cam"? You're the Best!
Very nice of you to say . Thank you
Thanks Adam, we love your filming locations. Can’t wait to see the next one❤️
I like when Barney Fife finally left Mayberry, changed his name and moved to San Diego to manage some apartments.
Indeed. Threes company is my all time favorite show
It was filmed in Santa Monica not SD.
Actually his brother Bart owned the apartments-
You can see Barney's mannerisms in Mr. Furley (i.e., the snort/sniff).
Adam, it would be interesting if we could take a look at where Andy actually lived out there in California when he was filming this show.
Thank you.
alright :) great video Adam, love this show so much. Thanks a lot Adam :)
Glad to see you back Adam! Hope the time away give you time to focus on what you enjoy. Pursue your passion projects, we will all be here supporting!

Glad You're Back Adam,Thanks For The Tour Of ALL Things Andy Griffith
missed your vlogs!!, this already made my week :)
You did so much work and research for this. Great job. Love your stuff.
Yes you are back!! My family has missed you!!
Magnificent! Thanks to your passion, I could reminisce over some wonderful TV viewing days of my youth.
So glad you’re back Adam:)!
Best video yet, Woo.
Good job. I appreciate all your hard work researching this. It was great to live through this wonderful memory of my mom (who loved this show). It’s now my favorite show. This video was really special. Thank you, man.
Nice to see a new video. Welcome back. Woooooooooooooo !!
Welcome back Adam the WOO !!!great that you recharged your batteries you deserve it but glad your back appreciate your blog an the knowledge and energy you bring each day THANKS !!!!
Stoked to see this, just used your old video to find the opening shot location in Franklin Canyon Reservoir! Beautiful little spot
Thank you.
