Thanks, but can I be honest? Spraying on a card and sniffing for a few mins is really not going to tell you what you need to know about Moon Bloom (and probably the other ones, too). Moon Bloom changes dramatically from a quite a green, non-sweet fragrance, to a fairly sweet, nectarish one and also, keeps switching between floral notes, from time to time, as you wear it. The spray on a card and sniff for a few minutes thing might work sufficiently well for some artificial fragrances, as they are often quite fixed and linear (although, it still won't tell you about the drydown, if there is a discernible one) - but, it won't tend to work for fragrances using a lot of natural ingredients. Not only that, but it won't tell you how they react with different people's body chemistries. Although, I appreciate that would be a far harder thing to replicate.
Of course, that's why it's called a First Impressions video.. it's just a casual first impression before I wear them properly on skin and do full reviews later.
I love the line of Hiram Green, especially Moon Bloom, the first of his series, because of the not too sweet tuberose, the jasmin accord and its natural ingredients; this line has an exotic touch for me. The staying power is very good and I got compliments for it, it's a nice womens perfume. And the flacon is sooo pretty! Happy Easter Peter!
I love this! I was especially excited that you got to try some of the Hiram Green line, one of my favourites along with Papillon. Moon Bloom completely bowled me over with it’s lush, full bodied take on tuberose and Dilettante is my favourite citrus fragrance ever... I like that he just releases one really well made fragrance a year and doesn’t try to cover all sorts of genres, he just does whatever he wants. I also quite liked Suleyman Le Magnifique but maybe not enough to buy a bottle... Do agree that it is very well blended and follows the Fort and Manle DNA whilst being entirely unique. And I’m so jelly of your Dusita win. I’m so keen to check out Fleur de Lalita after reading all the raving reviews in the blogosphere. Anyway, take care Peter! Looking forward to whatever video you bring us next :).
I want to review Fatih Sultan Mehmed as it's one of my favourite scents but exactly the same thing happened when I tried to describe it. I need time with it too. Giverny is clever as well with the blurred notes and layers just like the painting. I enjoy it a lot too. Loved this thank you. Have a lovely Easter time!❤
Just got Slowdive today. Just put it on . Wow, that's like bee honey from a jar. You're spot on with Moon Beam and Shangri La I have Hiram's Voyage . I haven't sampled any of the others though. Best Easter Weekend Peter.
I really need to check out some Hiram Green scents...I think I’d really like Slow Dive. Impressions de Giverny is one I don’t expect to like from Fort & Manle...I’ve tried Suleyman Le Magnifique and love it. I agree it leans masculine, but as a woman I can wear it easily and it becomes more unisex after the opening (which doesn’t dissipate quickly like most openings do).
To my nose, there's something incense-y like in the opening of Suleman that dominates the fragrance. However, the dry-down is awesome. I heard Rasei Fort (Perfumer for Fort & Manle) speak about having visited the gardens of Giverny on which the painting is based. Like you, he also described the floral smells as being akin to ethereal. It's amazing how he subtly achieves these blending of notes. And also how some of his fragrances can occasionally portray a 'changing face & story' on various wearings. I just wish they'd last longer on my skin.... :-(
A very well-known designer fragrance, which apparently combines all aspects of Lily, should be Baiser Vole by Cartier. I find it only very weak, not durable enough for my taste. So I'll try to get my nose on Fleur de Lalita to compare both.
Have you tried Boadicea the Victorious - Glorious? I think you'd like it, so well blended. I liked your review of Giverny and Suleyman.. I think for Giverny I can definitely smell the fruitiness and the musk. If you totally soak your skin with it you will definitely smell the musk later, but the performance is a bit of a letdown.
I've tried a lot from BTV, not quite sure if I smelled Glorious or not, possibly.. In general though I smelled about 20 or more from the line, but nothing personally grabbed me, I've got a drawer full of their samples
I agree in that a lot of them aren't really anything to go crazy about, but when I smelled Glorious, it really stood out for me. It's a fruity floral woodsy vetiver type with raspberry and apple and patchouli and, yeah, it's just so well blended I can't pick anything out. Reminds me a lot of how Giverny was done.
The problem with me is that I am willing to blind buy a heavily discounted full bottle but will not be convinced to pay more than $3 per ml plus ridiculous shipping fees for samples lol. Maybe because I am still lucky enough to be able to conveniently test and buy what I want without paying for samples. But I know that time will come that I will need to do so.
Peter, have you ever done a video on all of the bottles of fragrance you own? I understand that your collection is relatively small, considering you have reviewed so many. I searched your channel's video list but I didn't see one with that title. If there is one please provide a link to that video. Thanks!
Nice Video, I own Fatih S.M. I like it, it’s very appleish and Amber patchouli bomb. Is Suleyman L. M have the same vibe? They are blended good but you can’t beat The blending of Roja’s
I don't get Patchouli Bomb from SM.... Roja are made in France by the company Robertet, but yeah, those chemists do a great job of blending, they also blend for brands like Parfums de Marly :)
You should ask other Niche and Indie perfumers, most of them know, even certain sales associates that have worked for him in the past know. He won't ever publicly admit it to anybody, it defaces his brand image. But he's well known as only being a creative director.
great video as always peter, have u seen the movie “ the nose-searching for blamage”? its a doco about Alessandro Gualtieri the dude who made the pardon perfume, very interesting movie if u haven’t seen it i highly recommend it, its on vimo iv just rented it yesterday and saw it, cheers mate
Depends on your taste! My personal favourite that I wear the most is Bojnokopff, it's lavender in the opening with real oud... then mellows out into a woody oud combo with cocoa and vanilla to smell like smooth chocolate
Great video as always. not sure about you, Peter but all I get these days is sweetness, flowers and oud in literally everything...and oh...the white florals/lilies...I wish the niche perfumers became more creative n authentic. It's all mass - pleasing now. I am really disappointed with Dior Privee Releases...Sakura????...PLSSSSS hahahahahah
Slow dive smells a lot like serge Lutens chergui. Have you explored the Tauer line? He's one of my favorite indie perfumers and I know he sells discovery sets. I've also been starting to explore 4160 Tuesdays. Sarah, the perfumer just released a whole set of naturals too. Maximilian must know just posted a review. Cheers.
Really ? I don't smell much Chergui.. I have smelled a few from the Tauer line! - I just bought some miniture attars he's made of L'air du desert.. a 5ml... and one of Rose de Kandahar - I smelled two from Sarah's natural line but they smelled not so great..... I know she doesn't actually like naturals though, she doesn't think you can make good natural perfumery, and that they don't last.. She's a more fan of synthetics. The naturals she made are more for her YOGA she practises, rather than a dedicated expression of natural perfumery
FragranceView Pep from the Scentinel made the Chergui comparison so maybe he put it in my head. I actually go back and forth with Chergui. Yeah naturals are often disappointing. It's rare to find natural perfumes that are done really well. I'd say I really like about half of the Tauer line. Mostly the guy is kind of the benchmark of a good indie perfumer as far as being a one man show and making a name for himself in a over saturated market.
Appreciate the impressions Peter as well as the supporting graphics. However, it would definitely be helpful if we could see your face a little better. Sometimes it's fun to watch the immediate subtle and unconscious facial expressions we make when smelling something for the first time. It can give a very good indication of our subconscious thoughts, regardless of how we choose to respond consciously. You do an excellent job of remaining neutral my friend, so it's probably not even an issue....but you're ruining my fun!! LOL
Sorry about that, and I totally agree.... I was relying on the Laptop light, but when I switched to fort and manle website, it's black... so it didn't light me up. Usually I have a dedicated lamp that fully lights me up properly, but I didn't have it with me for this video...
Ok, awesome. can you list the book suggestions on the description box? Loved the reviews. Fort & Manle is getting so good reviews I have to get my nose on those.
They were basic books, but Mandy Aftel Fragrant the secret life of scent, Diary of a Nose by Jean Claude Ellena ( just for the back few pages ) - Roja Essence of Perfume
Thanks, but can I be honest?

Happy Easter!
Thank you, Peter!
Slowdive is honey/beeswax dominant. Love it. Back to black is very tame by comparison. I love both but slowdive is more salient.
Glad you like it

thank you so much for the review :) much appreciate and love the decor of your room :)
Thank you!

yeah looking forward to testing that one out myself on skin
FragranceView trying out Erawan today. You gotta get past the opening. The mid and dry down are lovely.

I've not smelled the Cartier!
love your room bro awesome lighting!

Never tried any of these yet so thanks for the intro. And yes, Fort & Manle are not stocked in Sydney : (
you can buy samples pretty affordable from their website though
The problem with me is that I am willing to blind buy a heavily discounted full bottle but will not be convinced to pay more than $3 per ml plus ridiculous shipping fees for samples lol. Maybe because I am still lucky enough to be able to conveniently test and buy what I want without paying for samples. But I know that time will come that I will need to do so.
It's just not much option though lol... surprised they are not stocked in Sydney though, you think they would be at some point.
Have you ever tried any shay and blue frags?
I have yes, not bad... nothing I'd personally buy myself
+FragranceView thanks again 👍

I used to have a collection video a couple of years ago, but it's so out dated now I thought it best to delete it!!
FragranceView ok. Well, I hope you do an updated collection video at some point.
Enjoyed this Bro. You get a chance to try Suleyman and Sultan Mehmet on skin? Like to know if there was a difference. Thanks✌🏻
Just got home, thanks
You should look into the brand Haeckels. Heard good things. All natural and based in England.
oh I've never heard of them... I'll look them up, cheers

You should ask other Niche and Indie perfumers, most of them know, even certain sales associates that have worked for him in the past know. He won't ever publicly admit it to anybody, it defaces his brand image. But he's well known as only being a creative director.
+FragranceView I mostly own all of them. Except few.,
FragranceView sent you a message on FB. You should make a video of you're entire collection. When are you coming out with you're frag.
great video as always peter, have u seen the movie “ the nose-searching for blamage”? its a doco about Alessandro Gualtieri the dude who made the pardon perfume, very interesting movie if u haven’t seen it i highly recommend it, its on vimo iv just rented it yesterday and saw it, cheers mate

I’ve never tried Fort & Manley, but you’ve reviewed many of the fragrances, what’s your recommendation??

Tauer has carved a very good brand, and keeps down to earth and approachable, nice guy.

No worries mate. I'd still watch your videos even if it was just a shadow talking to me. Creepy - but informative. LOL
lol
Thanks for this. Have you tried Arbole Arbole from Hiram Green? I thought that was the best in the line.
Nope, I only bought those 3!
Hi hv u or will u review
Fort n manle
Charlatan?
I might review it at some point, but it's my least favourite from the brand
O really. Many youtubers are saying its v sexy n delicious and I almost want to blind purchase it
Hi Peter. I cant seem to find your video from earlier today, did you take it down? Was loving all the info and suggestions.
Took it down, will re-upload later next week... something I need to change
Ok, awesome. can you list the book suggestions on the description box? Loved the reviews. Fort & Manle is getting so good reviews I have to get my nose on those.

Thank you.
What happened with the video last night? I did really like it! too bad that i couldn't watch it until the end :(
I'll make a new one for next week, some things I want to change...
Ok great! I really thought that video was inciteful, especially on what ingredients make certain accords
I meant insightful, damn autocorrect
I’ve never tried Fort & Manley, but you’ve pretty much reviewed all their fragrances, what’s your best pick??
Can't wait for it!!
I like the shangrila but don't get a lot of citrus there too. Funny... wanted to review this soon too :)
You should do!!!
