@Dickum N Lickum the V: Emperor Of UA-cam. It was until rassilion came to power, then became peaceful for a while after until they were loosing a war with the vampires from another dimension and put rassilion back into power
0:58 Jack: "But all the legends of Gallifrey made it sound so perfect." Doctor: "Well, perfect to look at, maybe. And it was. It was beautiful. They used to call it the Shining World of the Seven Systems. And on the Continent of Wild Endeavour, in the Mountains of Solace and Solitude, there stood the Citadel of the Time Lords, the oldest and most mighty race in the universe, looking down on the galaxies below. Sworn never to interfere, only to watch. Children of Gallifrey, taken from their families age of eight to enter the Academy. And some say that's when it all began. When he was a child. That's when the Master saw eternity. As a novice, he was taken for initiation. He stood in front of the Untempered Schism. It's a gap in the fabric of reality through which could be seen the whole of the vortex. You stand there, eight years old, staring at the raw power of time and space, just a child. Some would be inspired, some would run away, and some would go mad." ua-cam.com/video/kDZU-4jpZuU/v-deo.html
it is one Year ago or two as i have seen the first full Doctor Who episodes.... but it feels like i am comming home ... HOME! HOME to Gallifrey... So many others like Startrek, starwars, Battlestar Galactica, Perry Rhodan, Mark Brandis the Lensmen have builing my childhood and adult years... And now as my Hair is turning Grey... as i face the Time and in the Mirror with 50 Years of age, seeing an old Man... the Doctor is comming to me... For this i will say Thank you universe... thank you TIME... Thank you God... I am young again when i can follow this adventures
"you should have seen it...when the suns came up over the horison and hit the trees...the trees had silver leaves, it was so so beautiful...but it's all gone now,and I'm the last"
I'm pretty sure we already did, Kelper 45c was a planet in a twin-planet binary star system and the size of the planet is 4.6 times larger than Earth which is very similar to Gallifrey
Whenever I listen to this piece, I sit with my eyes closed and can see Gallifrey as the Doctor remembers it. A beautiful planet, orange sky, the citadel of the Time Lords in a glass dome like a giant snow globe, the Time Lords going about their everyday lives, and can imagine his friends. His family. His life. This song gives me a sense of home.
When it comes to The Doctors I think Tennant does the best job at REALLY portraying /every emotion/ that The Doctor feels & experiences. Excitement. Sadness. Happiness. Anger. Confusion. David was so good at portraying The Doctor. He caused me to feel physical pain every time he was upset or hurt (not even my favorite TV show does that to me) David is always spot-on with his emotions. I have cried my soul out countless times because of Ten's astonishing portrayal. This is why Ten is my favorite
As a long-time fan of Doctor Who--and I mean a VERY long-time fan, going back to the Jon Pertwee days--all I can say is that I am thrilled and overwhelmed by this wonderful music. From the tiny studio orchestras and simple music of the "classic" TV show years, to this amazingly expansive and grandly orchestral sound as exemplified here. In many ways, it's a reflection of the saga of the series itself. From a long-running but rather obscure British sci-fi TV show, to a cancellation and seeming death. And then resurrected into an epic and world-wide phenomena. This theme tells the story of Doctor Who perfectly.
This is an incredible piece of work. How it manages to explore so many concepts, themes, emotions and stories within the space of 3 minutes is astonishing.
Am I the only one who hears a similarity between the theme for Gallifrey and the theme for the Daleks? Specifically the music used in Daleks in Manhattan when Dalek Sek emerged as the hybrid human-dalek. Start playing at 0:21 and then imagine the tempo slowed, pitched dropped about two octaves and then add a choir. A very fitting choice for the melody as both sides are always responsible for the continuation of a war, but only one side can be responsible for the beginning and one side responsible for the end.
I love the majesty of this song. You can sense the frustration and pain the Doctor has toward the Time Lords. The sheer reverence he holds for his people, while at the same time still feeling the anger and frustration toward their stubbornness and pride.
This song literally makes me want to cry every time, even though it has some happy-ish moments. I didn't actually cry all that hard during the scene where this actually took place with the Master- I was more shocked about seeing the Doctor have so much emotion and it broke my heart. Doctor Who is incredible and while I am a new fan, I am so glad I am watching it. Also my brother has started watching it and it is one of the first ways my brother and I have ever connected in his 13 years of life
I think this is the greatest piece from NuWho. It's so emotional, conveying longing, sadness, joy. It's powerful but pretty too. It does more to realise Gallifrey in the audience's minds than any of the onscreen depictions thus far.
I love this music. It gives a sense of nostalgia and that hidden power the Time Lords have. The steady beats of the drums is like time never stops ticking for Gallifrey.
1:43 - 2:10 You feel like you are right there flying around gallifrey You can see the vast mountains and feel the fields of deep red grass, capped with snow just brush against you - You can hear the sounds of little timelord children run around in the fields. This is incredible :')
I love this theme, but I'm never quite able to describe how I feel whenever I hear it. It's like how we can't see Gallifrey in all its wonder because there is simply nothing we can film, no place perfect enough. Just some CGI and stuff, and that only scrapes the tip of the iceberg. The same goes for this music. There...there are just no words. Only the music.
It's the music that injects the emotion into Dr Who. Loose the music, loose the feeling. Murray Gold is up there with Howard Shore as far as composition is concerned.
David Tennant was the best doctor, no questions asked, and this music is beautiful, much better than what Murray Gold does for Doctor who now, this song is brilliant, or should I say, FANTASTIC!
I feel a very strong need to go and stand on top of a high mountain and, breathe the fresh air and gaze out over the breathtaking lanscape of Stekenjokk in northern Sweden. This son makes me laugh and cry and, for some reason, long for mountains.
I personally have not been able to sit and watch the first 8 Doctors, sadly I fear I am too much of a modern graphics person, but everything that I have seen or heard about them merely tells me that the writers of these shows are amazing and I can only hope to come close to their talent as I write my own novels.
17:16:20 GMT on 23rd November 1963 :D But don't really know when the special episode'll be broadcast on tv. I would love it, if they did it on that day though.
At 1:45 i can pick out another kind Orchestra music very similar to this but the change at 1:50 is different in the music i'm thinking of instead of going low the tone raises up i can't figure out the film it's from to then get the soundtrack name. Does anyone have the same feeling, i thought Mulan or Dinosaur might be have the music i'm thinking of but no still off. If i ever get it i'll be sure to say :D
@imaginary92 You need to access the Wikipedia page about Doctor Who music and from there you can reach every page about the soundtracks. I'm sorry, but UA-cam does not allow me to post links :)
What is this if not the Whovian heaven... My eyes water every time I hear this. It's strong, very strong. As the Doctor fights, as he loses everything he loves, yet he is still fighting. To save them.
I'm currently attempting to watch every non-missing episode there is in the Classic era.... I'm only on season two! Watching the old episodes are rewarding, but there's TWENTY-SIX seasons just in the Classic era... so good luck if you do!
@FightergirlSora Please, don't feel stupid, it happens to everyone not to know something ;) It is used in the three parter story Utopia-The Sound of Drums-Last of the Time Lords, and you can also hear it in The Doctor's Daughter and The End of Time. For future reference, I'll link you the page where you find everything about where and when songs have been used, so you won't happen to feel stupid again ;)
I can see The Doctor holding The Master in his hands and crying.
+Daniil Syed ;_;

Oliverstation2005 When in Day of the doctor? I didn't notice it :P
***** It didn't. He made it up.
This was also played in Utopia.
and in the last great time war (8th doctors last apearrance)
I like the build up for this song. It feels like it starts out peaceful on Gallifrey, then it's plunged into war.
@Dickum N Lickum the V: Emperor Of UA-cam. Everything has a peaceful moment be it even for a split second.

Martha: And what about you?
Doctor: Oh. For those who ran away, I never stopped!
* drums quietly in the background *
Damn that IS subtle. Three damn episodes about the drums of war and I never got that.
Also: towards the beginning, they sound like the tick-tock of a clock.
Wait, those were drums??? O_O I can hear it now...
This song has absolutely everything in it, longing, triumph, joy, adventure....
Bunny Grabbit I really want Who to go back to the RTD golden days.
Yes indeed
"so which is it? No More, or Gallifrey Falls?"
"ah, but it's both - Gallifrey Falls No More."
got the dialogue slightly wrong but meh
+MrSinxist meh indeed
Thomas McEleney i
Chris Chibnall: "Imma stop you right there!"
**Master Destroys Gallifrey**
Reminds me of when The Master was shot and he wouldn't regenerate for the Doctor- one of my favourite episodes ever
Well it did play in that episode.
+Arrow TT33 exactly , that's my point
REGENERATE!!!!!!!
How about that then, I win.
What an intense story

damn murray gold was an amazing composer
Was? He's still amazing!
+Divizoro Thank God :)
love the 0:59 part as it builds to an emotional score just beautiful :)
Yep
Jessica p. that part makes me sad that i don't live on gallifrey
This reminds me how much the Doctor lost.
David and Christopher were the best doc's of all time
Thumb's up
I need to give Murray Gold a high five for this awesome song! :D
Gallifrey Falls No More
Orlly?
MrCatDoesGames Rlly.

Gallifrey rises!
"Staring into the raw power of time and space, just a child. Some would be inspired, some would run away..............and some would go mad".
I love this soundtrack, showing both calm and intense side of the doctor.
Such a brilliant piece. Really fits in with the whole "lonely wanderer" theme.
"you should have seen it...when the suns came up over the horison and hit the trees...the trees had silver leaves, it was so so beautiful...but it's all gone now,and I'm the last"
The part when the trumpets come in is amazing.
My FAVORITE Instrumental piece EVER!!! Hope Murray Gold lives as long as a Time Lord. :)
people who follow and love doctor have started to sign some contract saying if we discover a new planet we should call it gallifrey... AWESOME :D
they have found a planet that look the same a gallifrey and there trying to get it named gallifrey, cool right
darnit
\
***** whyyyyyyyyyy
I'm pretty sure we already did, Kelper 45c was a planet in a twin-planet binary star system and the size of the planet is 4.6 times larger than Earth which is very similar to Gallifrey

this is seriously mu favorite soundtrack of the whole tv show. i've always loved this.

Run, Doctor! Run for you life! I said, RUN!
Quite simply one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard.
This is one of if not my favorite doctor song from the newer series. I love this arrangment

Murray gold, you are a bloody genius.
This is so beautiful... And heartbreaking ... Doctor, my beloved and beautiful traveler!
Wow, you've completely changed the way I listen to this music, thank you!
Love this. Plus loved how Murray Gold incorparated it and other past Doctor songs in to The Name of the Doctor.
I lived the episodes this was used in such a great track
I wanna cry now... :'(
I love the majesty of this song. You can sense the frustration and pain the Doctor has toward the Time Lords. The sheer reverence he holds for his people, while at the same time still feeling the anger and frustration toward their stubbornness and pride.

R.I.P. Master....
He's not dead.
We didn't see him die, though.
He's missy now! R.I.P NO MORE!!!!
CoolfunkDJ (NotFromAtlantis) and then Missy died with so many unanswered questions, it makes Doctor Who look like Lost.

This and "Martha's Quest" are amazing tracks.
I get the chills listening to this :)
This is sooo playing in our graduation party!!!
Yes, noted. The episode had a lot of good cues in it. Curious as to what will be included on a season 7 soundtrack (if/when it comes out).
the serie and music are really great
I CRI EVRYTIME :(
All the doctor brought something new to the show as well as the companions
