    My 2 cents on how to achieve planner piece: get off of social media. I recommend you stop looking at what other people are doing for at least 30 days. Give yourself time to see how you do on your own with what you have. Find what works for you and ENJOY not getting tempted by new releases by all these companies and shops. It's so much noise!

      Totally agree with this! So many people with so many options and all of the codes coming at us- it can be way too much. I do Planner Perfect and a to-do list in my Gillio when I'm not feeling the scripting, but I know that's my limit. I can't look at other things!

    Being newer to the planner world, I've switched a lot. Looking for planner piece. And after this one or that one, a standard notebook to freely create my own layouts, has brought that to me. Some of what I use I got the ideas from you so thank you for sharing.

    This has been so helpful. I am guilty of planner chasing, so much so that I feel stuck in getting started because I have so many. The other weird sensation is I don't want to write in them because I don't want to "mess them up " :D. Maybe its just me...Thank you again, this helps me alot.

    You know, some of what you talked about re: feeling like someone *needs* to change their system/copy exactly what someone else is doing sounds a lot like the consumerist problem of trying to fix our lives by buying *things* instead of addressing the underlying issues causing those feelings.

    Ahhhhh!! Planner peace is so difficult to achieve! I am a massive procrastinator and I always want to be more productive and more organised. I tried to get into planning but found either the planners didn't fit my lifestyle (too much space/too little space) or I got swallowed down the rabbit hole of pretty and my planner was just not as pretty as others. I was intrigued by the happy planner but didn't invest in it as the page sizes didn't make any sense to my UK brain and the thought of always having to get stuff shipped from the states was just frustrating. Then I discovered Bullet Journalling and thought I'd finally found the solution to all my problems. No set boxes means I can spread out, or not, exactly as I need right? Well, first I got sucked into the pretty again and got frustrated with not being as artistic as others, then I found minimalist Bujo channels which was great, but in the end what got me was the tedium of having to draw out my spreads each time. Blah. So I've now discovered printables and I'm trying to combine the best of both worlds. Printing my Bujo pages and putting them onto Happy Planner style discs. I like the idea of being able to switch out printed spreads according to my needs for that week, but I'll have to see if it works as well in practise as it does in real life. Oh, and just last night I discovered the world of GTD planning. I'm wondering if that will help? Or is it just another rabbit hole to fall down?

    • @AnnieSmithawifenmother
      @AnnieSmithawifenmother  3 роки тому

      Yes, combine what you like into a planner that works for you! In the end, videos and methods can only get us started. It’s up to each person to follow through and do the things. It’s less about HOW to organize the info and more about DOING the tasks 😆

    Really enjoyed this video and loved your perspective! I've struggled with this as well and it's so easy to get caught up in finding perfection. Question: How do you store your previous planners/inserts? or do you keep them at all?

    • @AnnieSmithawifenmother
      @AnnieSmithawifenmother  4 роки тому

      So far, I keep all the weekly/daily inserts and books from the last 7 years. I don’t typically keep the notes- I’ll save them for a year maybe, until I’m sure I don’t need to reference anything.

    I totally agree with you. I've found myself jumping on the band wagon for various planner systems or covers, and then regretted almost immediately spending the money. I always seem to find myself coming back to the standard size travelers notebook, that size and the Wide size seem to be my sweet spots. The Wide mainly stays on my desk and I have a cut down Hobonichi Avec in that which i call The Holy Grail because EVERYTHING goes into that, all the details. But I have the standard as my EDC and I get a little more messy in that, as well as journal in it. I have used Hobonichi weeks and cousin/avec for the last few years but will not be doing so in 2021 because financially covid-19 kicked our butts this year and it's just not feasible to spend that kind of money. I will really really miss using the cousin/avec because that was , as I said, the Holy Grail for me, exactly what worked perfectly for me. Oh well, at least we are all healthy and I'll find other ways to be productive in 2021!! Anyway, thanks for another great video and have a fantastic weekend!!

    like this practical approach to make your planner work for you. Over-shopping for every little thing is counter-productive and just adds to the chaos

    I needed this video weeks ago! I'm trying out the Happy Planner vertical, thought I would love it to bits and I....really don't like it. I knew I liked dashboard layouts, it's what I've been doing for a year in my BuJo and it works. Now I'm trying to adapt this Happy Planner to make it work. Yay for discbound and getting the planner on clearance. lol

    Such a great video Annie! This is really helpful for the upcoming year. It is so true that what ever our planning style is, whether in a ring, coil, or TN, we should be able to adapt the same system and not change our planning style because of someone else. I really needed to hear this. Thanks so much for sharing this with us. Blessings, Jen

    New to your channel- I've been a planner addict for awhile but never got to consistently using them, so I am binge watching your videos for inspiration! (We also homeschool, so actually binge watching ALL your videos, lol) I'll be starting 2022 with Hobonichi (and Anna Vance for homeschool- I like hs separate). Of all the planners I've gone through, the Hobo is my favorite so I am going to try to stick with it and use a lot of your suggestions. I just did order some Mildliner brush pens to add to my collection though... (sigh)...

    I tried all the different planners - happy planner, law of attraction, passion planner, multi-notebook standard travelers notebooks, day timer, and many more - I found my planner peace with a B6 stalogy for planning and bullet journaling, and a purse-size A6 stalogy for jotting down important notes. It took me a while, but now feel like I have easier control. Social media points you in many directions, but when you find the one system that woks for you, there is nothing better

    I wasn't an actual subscriber until just now. Only reason I haven't subbed TN channels is because I haven't yet tried TN method. But I really love it because of the endless possibilities with the different booklets. I've been on discs since around April 2019 and am already set for next year. But TN is what I'm consistently drawn to try next.

    I'm easily overwhelmed, so I start with bare minimum and expand from that point. The TN works great for me because it's lighter and less cumbersome than my ring-bound planner. I call my planner my "portable brain," and the TN is definitely more portable! I'm looking forward to trying Planner Perfect, beginning in October, and I love your recommendations about sticky tuck-ins to give temporary expansion.
    I suspect perfectionism is an obstacle to Planner Peace. Our lives are in constant flux, seasons ebb and flow . . . our characters grow day by day! so there can be no PERFECT setup in stasis. The TN serves me well, gives me room to grow, is forgiving of messiness, is adaptable to life seasons.
