In todays Uganda travel vlog, follow World Junkie as he goes on a date with an old friend in her hometown of Fort Portal, Uganda. Fort Portal is the gate to tourism in Uganda. Situated in Westeren Uganda, you have access to the Rwenzori Mountains , Queen Victoria National Park for some of the best safari in Africa, Beindi national park for the Pygmy’s, gorilla trekking in uganda. These are all situated near Fort Portal in the west.
This east african country is not to be missed when travelling africa and has some of the best things to do in africa.

I'm happy you visited Fort Portal. I was there for 2 days and good enough I had a bike and roamed around freely✌️
I've never been to Fort Portal. Most of my time has been in Kampala or in / near Jinja with my fiancee. Jinja is the "capital" of her tribe, the Basoga.

Josey, you disappoint me. What history do they teach in History these days! Sir Gerald Portal had a Fort in Fort Portal when he helped fight Kabalega and other resistors in order to unite the Ugandan kingdoms. The Batoro and Baganda were collaborators because Kabalega and the Banyoro did not recognize the Batoro as an independent tribe since the king of Banyoro's son had seceded and broken off from Bunyoro to form the Toro kingdom. The Banyoro would come and override the Batoro who would run to Buganda and the Europeans to help re- establish them back on their throne. So Gerald Portal helped the Batoro using the Nubian armies he brought down from Sudan, hence the big Nubian community we have in Fort Portal. They came as soldiers who fought for Gerald Portal and formed Fort Portal which was their base to consolidate the Ugandan protectorate. Hence the Name Fort Portal. Named after Sir Gerald Portal and that Boma was their base.
