Fucking love this song fast as fuck how it should be deep purple one of the greatest bands ever and they come from my home country england the best country in the world 😃😀😀😀
Been a deep purple fan for a long time.songs like speed king, lazy, child in time being back a lot of wonderful memories of my youth.thank you for a trip to the kind of music that makes rock and roll so easy to listen to and enjoy.
Thanks for doing one of my requests, Elok, you’re very nice. I’m with you, Ian‘s voice in those years I think is my favorite of all time. Amazingly the singers who replaced him in deep purple are also great. To see them live check out “Burn“ from the California Jam. 1974. The studio version sounds better and so maybe you want to listen to that yourself first, because it’s so good, the studio version, but you get to see the band at the California Jam performance. Thanks for your thoughtful reviews!
Hey Elok loe love what you are doing here! I have been a D.P fan since the late sixties and as a 12 yo kid. I was lucky enough to see them play in soccer field in the Bronx NY and they performed the whole Classic album "Machine Head". You should check out that album its soo good! Peace and Love! ....K-Laz/BRS
One of their most underrated songs and still one of my favorites. When they did this song live, they would often stretch it out to more than ten minutes, or even longer. They were that good.

I really enjoyed your response to me about liking ARIANA GRANDE and other artists that are... current...! Very cool... I enjoyed a lot your "video reactions" to LED ZEPPELIN songs/tunes. I was, at one time, a huge fan of DEEP PURPLE, and I still like them a lot. For example, "WHAT'S GOIN' ON HERE" and "SAIL AWAY" from the "BURN" album are: REALLY, REALLY, REALLY AWESOME. But, when my older brother, Bill, introduced me to LED ZEPPELIN, oh my God, that was such a "game changer" for me, really... Why? I love their faster and "heavier" songs or material, but their "slower" or acoustic guitar-oriented songs are awesome: "BLACK COUNTRY WOMAN" "THAT'S THE WAY" "TANGERINE" "BRON-YR-AUR" "YOUR TIME IS GONNA' COME" "FRIENDS" all of these songs are amazing and awesome. It is so much fun watching you discover these songs! Ian Gillan’s vocals have an edgy quality on the album “In Rock”, as it sounds like he is singing in keys that are not comfortable for him. Ritchie Blackmore admitted years later that the rest of the band would record the backing tracks first and then expect Gillan to sing over whatever they had recorded; if Gillan couldn’t do it, then the attitude was that it was because he was inferior. It was a rather cruel way to treat the lead singer, but it did produce a particularly aggressive sound. As has already been suggested, if you want to check out the Mark 3 line up, their live performance at the California Jam in 1974 is a great place to start. Blackmore smashes his guitar against one of the TV cameras at the end and his roadies blow up one of his amps, setting the stage on fire, so the performance ends in total mayhem!
Addendum: You might also want to check out the Mark 1 line up to see how different the original band looked and sounded. There is a clip of them playing “Hush” on the TV show “Playboy After Dark”, where Ritchie Blackmore and Ian Paice have bouffant hairstyles and lead singer Rod Evans acts and sounds more like Tom Jones than Robert Plant or Roger Daltrey.
This is the album that made up their minds about which direction they should take, either playing with an orchestra or or playing hard rock music, not metal.
