My first instrument was guitar too but bass guitar was a different world that I falling up and loved. So I've entered in this world but ever with focus on Sabbath. Many songs I can play in guitar as I play in bass, but in difference I play only bass in my bands.

I know that most of the tone is in the plucking hand, but I've seen different people have very different opinion on the amount of mids, for example. Still, I'm going to come back here to learn some songs when I'm a bit better at playing..
Hey bro, 60% of tone is right hand (position on the pickups and neck plus middle finger), 20% new strings and 20% gear. If you want most recent GZR tone, you need to buy a pedal with not so strong overdrive or a head that you can give drive (in this case, use on 3-4/10). Some 70' and 80' songs you can put the bass tone on 70%. Don't play with high treble, you don't need *pluck* sound, you need a punchy sound but not so middle.
