Sounds like a great story. I’ll keep my eyes open to find it in the wild😊💐 I love history but studied veterinary technology in college instead of archaeology. I don’t do well with heat or bugs so doubt I would have made a good archaeologist lol😊💐
I feel the review tone matched the book. Sometimes a good sad book is good. I read 1984 for that. This one didn't hook me. Thank you for the real review and the books as always
btw Outlaw Bookseller has a vid called "Call yourself a collector" has book Shadowlines, about treasures found in books and the author plus his other work
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching.
I really enjoyed the writing but struggled with this being a fantasy novel. I posted my views on what is generality considered fantasy, and like you, i struggled with that.
The nominees in 1987 were weak. That might be a reason it won.
The nominees were weak, but 1986 was a decent year for SF and fantasy. They just didn’t chose well. Lois McMaster Bujold wrote 3 Vorkosaigan novels in 1986 none were nominated.
