She is great, Dionne Warwick singing this live is more dramatic IMO, very different interpretations, not a shade on Barbra who clearly has amazing voice
I was lucky enough to watch and hear Barbra sing this song in the Los Angeles studio for the Way We Were album. She was flawless and it was an incredible. The experience of watching Barbra work was a master class in artistic excellence. Nothing has ever really equaled that for me - as far witnessing a real life master class so powerful it stay with you for the rest of your life.
I have been hearing this song for 45 years ( it was released in 1974 but i didn't know it and first heard it on this GH álbum) and i still think is one of her more terrific performances because Stevie Wonder's song is so beautiful and her voice was a miracle. Each time i hear it is like the first time, i always get hipnotized
Barbra DID duet with Stevie Wonder… or rather his harmonica on The Broadway Album. The track incase you’d like to listen to it is ‘Can’t help lovin that man’. Suffice to say it’s sublime, so I can only imagine how incredible a vocal duet would have been!
Thank you for sharing this incredible song (All in Love is Fair) performed by Streisand and written by Stevie Wonder, who is an extraordinary artist, musician and one of our national treasures. In your video you asked why haven't these two artists collaborated. I wanted you to know that they have twice. In 1985 Streisand asked Stevie if he would play his harmonica on her Broadway album for the song "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man" from the musical Show Boat and originally recorded by the legendary Lena Horn. Most recently, Stevie Wonder sang a duet with Streisand in 2014, for her Partner's album. They sang a more contemporary and reimagined version of the song People, one of Streisand's most iconic songs that she originally recorded in the early 1960's and is most identified with. This was a great choice in song and hope you check it out because it is a rare opportunity to hear these two icons, at this late stage of their careers, sing together as they both celebrate their 6th decade as recording artists. In closing, you are an artist and possess a deep appreciation and passion for the arts, which is why your viewers feel a strong connection with you. I encourage you to keep up the great work you're doing through the videos you create and share on your channel. It is an important stepping stone in your journey. As an artist, it is important that you, never allow doubt or outside influences to detour you in pursuing your dreams. This is a very special lifetime for you, and you've been given an important voice that has the opportunity to enhance and transform the lives of others. This is an enormous gift that connects and aligines you to many artists, many before you, and will serve to inspire many, long after you. Sorry for this long-winded comment. Sincerely, Louis Nelson | Los Angeles CA.
Love this song off of one of my favorite studio albums..."The Way We Were." Excellent reaction, Jarryl; enjoy watching you listen to musical perfection. Btw, there actually is a duet Barbra did with Stevie which is on her 2014 album "Partners." The entire album is filled with duets with, in addition to Stevie, Michael Buble, John Mayer (my personal favorite song on the album), Babyface, Billy Joel, Blake Shelton, Lionel Ritchie, Andrea Bocelli, Barbra's son-Jason Gould, John Legend, Josh Groban, and even a glorious posthumous one with Elvis. Each 'partner' duets with Barbra on one of her songs throughout her career; Stevie's collab is on probably Barbra's most iconic signature song, "People," but done with a bossa nova flair with outstanding harmonica accompaniment from Stevie, compared to the original version from "Funny Girl." Check it out, there's even a short 2-minute promo with Stevie and Barbra talking about working together in the past and on this song that I'm sure you'll enjoy.
That whole GH vol. 2 is her at her best IMO. You'd be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't also hit "Prisoner" and "Songbird" from it. She knows when and how to elevate and her tone is magical. Enjoy this HUGE rabbit hole J.
In Sept of '88, Barbra and Stevie performed live at the Apollo. (Oh yes.) At the 3rd of 3 stints there, he was joined on stage by Barbra, Quincy Jones, Jesse Jackson, Steve Ross, and Don Johnson, Bab's date. They sang an impromtu duet. The song? Don't ask me! (Shut your mouth, Jarryl! 😄) I don't know and I've never found a source who knew. But there's photographic evidence--interweb it. But danged if I have ever found an article that mentions the song. ANYWHO, great reaction Mr. J! Can't wait to hear mo' news about Motown!! 😊✌💜
That was a great version, of course, but my favorite cover of All in Love Is Fair is this live performance from 1976 by Shirley Bassey on her TV show. Gives me chills. ua-cam.com/video/aR8FupkoTME/v-deo.html By the way, the Shirley Bassey video is not in the exact correct aspect ratio--it is stretched slightly horizontally about 10%, as you can see the circles on the backdrop behind her are slightly elongated horizontally. If you download it and have a video player they can adjust the aspect ratio, set it to 16:10 to correct it.

I've been watching all your Barbra's. And I have to warn you. You have only begun to touch the tip of the Barbra Ice Berg. What you will eventually discover will knock your socks off. Trust me. Ive been a Superfan since 1964. I love watching you discover her, by the way. Try the studio version of "He Touched Me" from the "My Name is Barbra...Two" album. A gorgeous ballad about first love that Barbra belts her head off on. Try breathing after hearing it. I dare you.
One of my favorites by her
Whew! I’m breathless! ❤❤❤
Yes they should’ve done a duet
Love her version of this song.
I love her soooo much …there is no one who can emote like her
Words can't express how great this woman is! True genius!
Gorgeous...just gorgeous.
Great reaction, No one even comes close to Streisand. 👍

One of my favorite Stevie Wonder songs I love his rendition. Great version by Streisand too - stellar vocals

She was about 30 here her voice was at its peak.

I think this was originally on the album from 1974 that also had "The Way We Were", you should check out the title song as well, iconic!
I think somebody said she was the first who closed a song on a high note, when the normal was a low. I don't know if that's true.

I'll ask around, David, about that impromptu duet... there's bound to be someone who knows.
@@donnamentrasti2695 Donna, if you do, you'll get a prize!😊
Did she stop ironing her hair for the Apollo? Crimping!
From January 1974

The closest Stevie wonder came to doing a duet with Streisand was playing the harmonica for the song. I never has seen snow, the album version.
