Hey! I just watched your review and I want to say a few points. I own the same Dragon Shield Codex for a few years as my only binder for my most valuable cards.
    1. The side with the gold logo is supposed to be the back of the binder, so it opens up normally as a binder should.
    2. It, not lying flat is not as big issue as you think. The older the binder is, the more flat it gets. I wouldnt worry too much about forcing it to lay flat. With my full binder just 5 full pages on one side makes it lay flat and the seam is strong enough for that. In short, my full pages force the binder to lay flat most of the time and I never had an issue with it. The "creaking"
    3. The pages being kinda dirty/scuffed was and is true for my binder too. Not sure if that has to do with the sleeves scratching it from the inside, or it being open binder attracts dust. Wiping it with microfiber cloth kinda helped.
    4. The plastic on the pages themselves is about as flimsy as any other binders. With time the plastic scratches/bends a little. But I dont have a single tear or rip.
The binder is about $20 around here. The Dragon Shield Zipster is $25 + $20 for 20 pages. For the price there isnt really many better alternatives. Thats just my few thoughts. Great video tho!

I just bought (Pre-ordered) 6 Dragon Shield Tribal Black 576 Binder so it was nice to hear someone say something bad about them, I'm hoping the newer version isn't faulty but this is coming from someone who was mainly using DEX Binders after hearing all the love for them I'm not a big fan. Luckily I got a good deal on my pre-orders and it will help showcase my Playset..

Good review man, what size of sleeve you used on your cards? I always use 66x90, not sure whether will they fit into the binder pocket or not.

Don't use ring binders, they're just bad, not only that but they also look so dull and cheap >.<
The Codex is fine for a 20 dollar portfolio, better than those ultra pro's IMO. Like someone else commented, the "flaws" aren't really that much different when compared to other portfolios alike, I own 4 of these and they're neat!
My only problem is the middle columns opening towards the spine so if you don't use thick enough sleeves, cards will slip out when flipping through pages. Also really wish this was offered with a zip-closure instead of elastic band

My biggest problem with it was just how the pages came scuffed and dirty. It may have been a manufacturing problem I have no idea? But it’s good to hear other views on it 👍 thanks

The scuffing part I can relate to :p
Btw! Since you use DS sleeves to store cards in the binder, have you noticed the sleeves getting a little wrinkled/mangled from the back side?

So you recommend the dragon shield with clips instead?

Do you know why binder pages fog up over time ? It always ends up looking cloudy even after 1 year it is super annoying. Dragon shield pages don't fog up as fast or as easily as ultra pro. But I would love to find a prevention method if possible.

i think you have to break the binder in. i have a DragonHide binder and it wouldnt lay flat with cards but over time the flaps break in and stay flat down

As another newer creator of content. Start with price and clearly talk about the product. A large amount of people have purchased, this and even reviewed them. The binding might be defective on yours. I'd recommend you using your old sleeves for the cards in the sheet.

Man, this is a $20 portfolio. That is extremely cheap. If its good enough to hold cards then im fine with it.

If you want a cheap binder you can buy a 5 dollar binder at Walmart and buy card holders from ultra pro, cheaper than this and higher quality. But yes this is a pretty cheap binder but that does not make it good. Would you mind subscribing
