  • just got hold of this phone that was destined for the rubbish bin.
    UPDATE....
Further research suggests it is actually a 300 series case and handset, with 400 series internals and base plate.
So the case and handset would be mid 50's or earlier, and the internals most likely late 50's
The handset is marked "164 62"
164 is the handset type, and I was under the impression 62 was the year it was made. However, they stopped producing this style in the mid 50's
If anyone can help me shed some light in helping me date this phone, please send me a message :)

We live in a disposable world.
That lady had a 60 year old piece of equipment that still worked and she threw it away!
Electrical equipment won't even last 6 years now days.

If you're in Australia, email me at rod71 at hotmail dot com and I'll get back to you with a picture of inside the connector so you can see how it is wired :)

Did you see the Western Electric 500 C/D on ebay? It has a blue tooth circuit added to it. It makes and receives calls, it also uses the original ringer too!! I searched western electric bluetooth on google

+David E. That sounds awesome. We're transitioning to a fibre network here in Australia, so I'll soon need to retrofit a gadget into my rotary's to keep them working.

+Rod's Pinball Videos I understand that conversion kits are for sale from him too. I see a pink touch tone push button telephone there for sale and a dial telephone that lights up!

Hi there. Just do a Google search for "Novus 2" It's a plastic polish/fine scratch remover, and works a treat :)

Nice telephone. This is not a restoration. Just a clean up without even showing how it was cleaned... anyway...it's great that the telephone was saved and it has found a home where it is treated as historical artifact and not trash

Hi I have a phone like this given to me b my brother who worked in telecom in the 60's. Said it was made in the 50's. Very good condition and has wires so probably works well too. Want to sell it but no idea what it's worth. Can you give me any idea Thanks

Hi Georgie. Without seeing it, it's hard to value. But any bakelite phone in decent condition is worth at least 100 dollars if it works.

I have one of these. Do you know the value of it today?

    • @RodsPinballVideos
      @RodsPinballVideos  10 років тому

Lazy Rocco Hi there. Here in Australia they would be worth between 100 and 200 dollars depending on condition and if it's working or not. If it's any other colour than black, it would be worth considerably more.

***** Thanks for the response. I don't exactly know what model my one is, but I believe it is the Vintage Siemens Bakelite Rotary Phone (Siemens Brothers & Co LTD London), PAT 328926, Circa 1930's.
      Fully working.
It has a 'Savage' boat brand sticker in the centre of the dial with the year since 1898.
Fyi I'm from Aus as well.

Lazy Rocco Sounds awesome. Feel free to send me a picture of it to rod71 AT hotmail dot com, and I may be able to tell you more about it :)

Lazy Rocco Hi there. Sorry for replying here instead of your email, but this is just easier :)
OK, so I got the pics. Your phone is a model 332 that was made in 1952. With a little elbow grease it will look amazing!. The label in the middle of the dial is not original. You can purchase the correct reproduction label from a guy on eBay who's username is "choctop2"
Hope that helps. It will be great looking phone once cleaned up :)

This might possibly the worst how-to video on UA-cam, certainly the worst I've ever seen. I wanted to see HOW it's done, not before and after. And I have no idea what Novice 1 and 2 (Novus? Novis?). You were supposed to show us while you were doing it after which I imagine I might have figured it out. Just because you can do it is no reason to post a useless video like this one.
