Anything we have wrong is truely mental illness whatever doctors say. I bucked my parents about adhd meds as a child and trusted God will figure me out. According to ET, Avril Lavigne’s new album, Head Above Water, was inspired by her experience with Lyme disease. The 33-year-old singer was diagnosed with the illness in 2014 and had to stay out of the spotlight for several years.
In a recent press release, she explained how the experience inspired her first album in five years. “One night I thought I was dying, and I had accepted that I was going to die. My mom laid with me in bed and held me. I felt like I was drowning. Under my breath, I prayed, ‘God, please help me to keep my head above the water.'”
Lavigne says that although the moment was terrifying, it helped her create the emotional music in her new album. “In that moment, the songwriting of this album began. It was like I tapped into something. It was a very spiritual experience. Lyrics flooded through me from that point on.”
The singer has grown a lot since her “Skater Boi” days. Her song, “Head Above Water” is all about someone trying not to drown. The lyrics are very emotional. “God, keep my head above water. Don’t let me drown, it gets harder. I’ll meet you there at the altar. As I fall down to my knees.”
Healthline reports that Lyme disease is caused by a bacteria and can cause several serious symptoms including fever, muscle aches, fatigue, headache, Bell’s palsy, numbness in the extremities, meningitis, and even heart problems.

Eminem has no emotional or intellectual value? I'm not a fan of his music, never have been, but even I know that his songs tend to address real social issues that affect millions of people daily. :/ You don't have to like someone's musical style to understand that their music has cultural value. And you don't have to put down other artists just to praise ones you like. Besides, you act like Avril hasn't had her fair share of pointless songs with little to no emotional or intellectual value (Hello Kitty, Best Damn Thing, Girlfriend, What the Hell, etc.) outside her fan base. While these songs are shallow in essence, to some people, they may mean a lot. The same can be said for most of the artists you listed. I'm sure their fans connect on a level you don't really understand to their music. So, let's not tear others down. :)

They create music for fame. Avril is one of the few, and best, who creates music simply to share how she feels. Inspire. She loves what she's doing. I don't usually comment on videos, but I just have to comment on this one...This song made me realize so many things. I often joke around saying things like "Please kill me already" or "I just wanna die" without even thinking how much those words actually mean. There are people out there who are sick, dying and would give everything just to be healthy, stay alive and live normally. Some people live happy lives that suddenly get ended in accidents like fires, tornadoes, tsunamis and so on. I had no idea how lucky I actually am to be alive, breathe, go to school, have a roof over my head, live with my family...I'll stop joking around like that. Got diagnosed with Lyme disease this month. My ears hurt, I have tinnitus and am slowly losing my hearing. My eyesight has become TV static, and I'm so sensitive to light. I am an artist and the vision issues are so debilitating. All my joints pop and hurt. I'm a week into antibiotics and no changes yet. Bless you for holding on. I'm no medical expert, but while you're healing, I'd like to recommend an easy addition to your diet. We all need enough hydration to keep ourselves going and even more so when we're in recovery from something. So, for your liquids, add some electrolyte mixes to your intake. Magnesium, sodium, and potassium are all important minerals that help your body receive nutrition better and aid in recovery. Pedialyte is the most common, but my family personally preferes Liquid IV and Nuun as far as brands go. Give your body all the love you can, and in time, it will restore itself.

I got diagnosed with Chronic Lyme about a year ago, after having struggled with it for over three years. I dropped out of college three times, dealing with severe depression, chronic pain, fatigue, and a million other symptoms. I bounced around between literally dozens of doctors and specialists and none of them could help me figure out what was going on with my body. It is the new great imitator!
You can imagine what that did to me, to be lying in bed at home for years, never leaving the house, with no real way to move forward in my life. Any friendships I had, I couldn't keep up with. Antibiotics don't work if you've had Lyme for a long period of time without treating. Thank God, I finally came across a doctor who has had immense success with Rife machine treatment, and now I'm living with a hope for being Lyme-free within the next couple years.
Thanks to Avril for helping bring light to what I believe is the greatest epidemic in America right now and something that has sufficiently messed up my life. Thanks to God for bringing me a cure. Please hear me: there is hope for healing from Lyme and Chronic Lyme and there is a God who loves you more than you can ever imagine and wants to heal you like I believe He is doing for me.
Hang in there as I like to say, Fight, Conquer, Win. Lyme Disease is a very hard disabling disease and I can honestly say I know how it feels because I live my day to day life with it.

I'm praying you start to feel better soon! I also have chronic Lyme and have been fighting it for 7 years now. Like you it has completely changed my life. I'm basically bed bound from it effecting all the systems/parts of my body size it took so long to diagnose. I've grown so much closer to God on this journey and get comfort knowing that this is all for a reason. There is a purpose in the pain and I feel that its spreading awareness and letting people know that in these bad seasons of life run to God instead of away. I really hope with all this news coming out recently that more people hear about it and more doctors learn the symptoms so we can catch it early and it doesn't get so chronic.

@@carriemason8861 I hope that you start feeling better. Brain fog is so hard to handle because when your brain doesn't want to work right your body doesn't work. I'm also really hoping that doctors will start learning about it and becoming more open to it. I live in Oklahoma and every time I have to go into the hospital the doctors treat me like I'm crazy and making up everything. I have to see a doctor in New York because the doctors here don't know how to treat this late of stage. We got to hang in there and never stop fighting. With this song coming out I think it will make the Lyme community stronger and give us more of a platform. Then, maybe we can get a cure and not just treatments.

I'm not sure to believe in God, for thousand reasons and even if I come of a Catholic family but despite that I'm really happy that Avril find strenght, courage and comfort in religion. The reason you don't believe in God is (probably) bcuz you come from a Catholic backround. I know some amazing and Godly Catholics, so don't misunderstand. I'm not against all Catholics. I am against Catholicism. Its religion at its worst. Amish bishops are very similar. Its not about relationship with a creator with them. Its not about a savior. Its not about a daily walk with a God who loves you and longs to converse with you back and forth. Its about religion, and that's about control and fear. And that is wrong! Jesus was all about reconciling man and God back together. Religion seperates. Forget all you have heard at mass. Open your bible and open your heart. Ask God to reveal Himself to you. He will. Don't pray for stuff. Pray for understanding and wisdom. Ask Him to show you who you are, and who He is. I promise you, He will answer and you will never be the same. Religion destroys lives. Jesus Christ restores all things.
It's not really because of that, no. My family was Catholic but they did not really practice. They never even baptized me. I very much agree that religion is the worst thing. I see 2000 history of the Church with a great C and I see only evil. Whether popes, bishops or others, and all the horrors they have committed since the beginning of the creation of this religion. Religion that stifles freedom.
But that's not why I do not believe in God. I read the Bible. And I did not like what I read. I do not see why I should submit to a book written by men 2000 years ago. Men who said they saw this and that. But we have no proof of that. Whenever I hear the story of the Bible, I can not help but look up at the sky just imagining men who have drunk too much and wrote this thing to have fun either idea of genius to control the world. I do not believe in God because the Bible did not convince me. Because I do not believe in what I read. Because the very foundation of this book restricts my freedom to act and think. Because I can not help but think that this cult around God is very recent compared to other older religions and that I do not see why this one would be truer than the others. There is so much belief in different countries, so many different gods throughout history. All works a little in the same way. Whether Greek, Egyptian, etc. It's too much religion and gods lol. I do not judge anyone who believes in God. Who am I to judge those who have faith? No one. But I do not believe in God simply because nothing, neither in religion or in the Bible or in these stories of Jesus, convinced me. I see only one book, very old, too old to continue to follow what it says with our current society, and so I prefer to keep my freedom to think as freely as possible and to be interested in any religions, without ever believing in any of them. As I said, there are too many gods and religions lol. All very interesting to study but I would never believe in any of them.
I love your honesty! I grew up Roman Catholic. We practiced frequently when I was young, then less as I grew up, but it wasn't personal for me until 2015. Now I couldn't care less what you call me, I am not Catholic and I think Catholicism has some problems, but I am a follower of Christ. God changed my life, repeatedly, including bringing me the girl I am now married to - and no not through church, lol. We had never met. The difference for me, was realizing that the God of the Bible is real love. His real love seeks and brings about what is best despite the painful costs. I want that real love and what it brings. We always have freedom of action and of thought, within the situations we find ourselves. In our freedom, what's to stop us from doing evil things, and even thinking some are good? It has happened, often - like you say - even in churches. How do we define what is evil, and what is the good way to correct it? Some say we will figure it out together, but that is 'society' and society is notoriously bad at that - and it changes.
What you read in the Bible is mankind hearing God and then repeatedly getting it wrong, sometimes trying to get it right, other times not caring, or refusing. Doesn't that sound like us today? Some eventually figured out they needed God, as was already made known and repeated. Even when they tried, they couldn't always love perfectly and resist the advantage of doing things that were not good. Still sounds familiar compared to people today, in my opinion. God made a way to fix all that in Jesus, and I think it's still relevant.
It is not one book, but many books and collections written across at least 1000 years, by many people of different cultures, describing events across all of known history also referenced by outside sources, and scrutinized heavily by the entire world to this day. It is astonishingly accurate and consistent. The New Testament has the most textual evidence of all human history, by far, and despite attempts to destroy it. That New Testament references the vast majority of the Old Testament. There is overwhelming evidence if you look. Serious question: What evidence would you need to believe in God? Why do we exist? Look for it! I am searching for truth and have found it so far in Jesus.
The God described in these writings offers real love now (joyful yet painful because of lingering evils) and promises life everlasting in that real love when it will no longer be painful. He is not just on a page or in history, He is present now - His name means I AM! He offers real love to you always, and for you to be able to love more perfectly as you practice His ways. Test it! Do you want real love? You may have it, right now. It is a free choice, for all peoples of all times. Every other idea or person or thing falls short of that promise, I've found. I've found that this God has kept His promises in Jesus.
Now, I do my best to love well, even when it is hard and seemingly not rewarding. Sorry if this seems sermon-y, I'm just sharing my heart. I say all this because though I have not met you, I desire for you to have joy like what I have found - which God desires also - and I think this may help you find more joy. I sense you're a good person, and I hope you have a wonderful life and that this has been helpful. Feel free to chat with me more, about this or anything. My mom is currently in the hospital a month ago she had an asthma attack that caused her to go into respiratory arrest and then she went into cardiac arrest and was without oxygen for 5 minutes she's alive but unresponsive she's making progress but it's very slow.. it's been 1 month ago yesterday that I heard my mom or talked to her this song has definitely helped me ♥️♥️🙏🙏

This song is exactly what I needed in my life right now. I'm currently struggling with mental illness, and it's been getting pretty tough lately. I feel I may be on the verge of an eating disorder, but I'm trying to keep my will strong and not give in. I can't let it give in. Mental illness is hard to get through. Especially when you haven't told anyone in your personal life. But I'm doing my best to keep my will strong. Maybe I'll open up to someone irl...idk when. But until then, I won't give up on trying to keep my head above water. If I let myself drown, who knows how long I'll be stuck underwater?
I do plan on telling two close friends when I see them at school Monday...it'll be hard, and it'll be a small step, but hopefully I'll make it..thank you 🙂
Try journaling. Obviously it's not the same as talking to a person about it but it can be a good way to vent your feelings and get them out down on paper. If you don't have a safe place to hide it you may want to get rid of the evidence by destroying your writings when you finish. You don't have to keep them for it to help.

Never give up. You are worth to be happy, to be loved. Even with your comment you are doing a great thing to start with healing of your demons. Tell somebody you trust about your struggles. Sometimes we are too busy to see how other person is feeling but that does not mean that we dont care. Take care.
