Welcome to “Son of Buck”. My dad was called BUCK, a nickname given to him by my granddad. So, this is where the name for my channel came from.
I am a Texas Police Officer, retired US Marine, Husband, Dad and Pawpaw (Grandpa). I have two daughters Tara and Krystin and two granddaughters, Isabella and Lucy. I love all types of music. I grew up in the 60’s and the 70’s, listening to mainly southern rock and country music. Again with Scandinavia? Have you even read what you posted? They're talking about the ALPS in this song. Switzerland and Sweden are not the same country, you know? Also, Evanescence? Why does every single female singer that sings rock/metal get compared to Amy Lee? Anna's voice sounds NOTHING like Amy's. And the music also doesn't sound like Evanescence AT ALL: Evanescence are an alternative rock band (I don't think they're metal anymore), and this is folk metal. Not all female-fronted bands sound like Evanescence, not all harsh vocals are screamo, not all metal is heavy metal.

Eluveitie (/ɛlˈveɪti/ el-VAY-tee; German: [ɛlˈfaɪ̯tiː])[1] is a Swiss folk metal band from Winterthur, Zürich, founded in 2002 by Chrigel Glanzmann. The project's first demo, Vên, was released in 2003. Vên was a studio project of Glanzmann's, but its success led to the recruitment of a full band. The band then released a full-length album, Spirit, in June 2006. In November 2007, Eluveitie was signed by Nuclear Blast.[2] The group rose to fame following the release of their first major-label album, Slania, in February 2008. The album peaked at number 35 in the Swiss charts and number 72 in the German charts.[3][4]
Mike, this epic Scandinavian/ Nth European operatic rock is one of my favourite genres, one to truly get lost in. Yeah, the word is Epic!
Erm... I'm sorry but this is not a Scandinavian or North European band. These are not operatic vocals. And this is not rock. I'm glad you like it but, how can you call this your favourite genre when you don't even know what it is? This is folk metal and they are from Switzerland (which is in central Europe).
@@PlugInKali I'm 72 and if I get the genre names wrong, forgive me but there have been so many and I don't rush to Wikipedia every time I hear something I love - I'm actually working while I listen. This song is reminiscent, to my ears at least, of bands like Epica and especially Nightwish when Annette was lead vocalist. I think their style is generally called operatic metal, and metal is a subgenre of rock. My Scandinavian/ Nth Europe generalisation is because Nightwish is Finnish, and I do know that Finland is not Scandinavian but Northern Europe. At the end of the day, I like what I like, regardless of genres and subgenres.
Gorge, if you're reading this, keep it up! I have eclectic music tastes too, and this epic Scandinavian/ Nth European operatic rock is one of my favourite genres. I'm a huge fan of Nightwish - I love the diversity that each of their lead singers have brought to the band. And Epica too.
Again, this has nothing to do with Nightwish. First of all, Nightwish are from Finland (which is not Scandinavia), Epica are from The Netherlands and Eluveitie are from Switzerland (neither of which are in Scandinavia). Nightwish and Epica's genre is called Symphonic Metal, not operatic rock and Eluveitie play Folk Metal. Neither are a rock band. Nightwish and Epica SOMETIMES use operatic vocals, Epica and Eluveitie sometimes use harsh vocals and Eluveitie NEVER uses operatic vocals.
Again, I'm glad you can you like Nightwish, Epica and Eluveitie, but you can't call "operatic rock" your favourite genre: first, because that doesn't exist; and second, because that not what either of those three bands play.
