He is giving critique here and he even showed yeji how he wants it by singing it out to her. Of course its hard to sing how someone wants it. And Lia, I would say she got it rough but it seemed like he was satisfy with it. I feel like Yeji and Lia got the hardest critic because they usually get the most line when it comes to singing. Majority of the catchy singing part, is usually lia or yeji atleast for me.

In such a competitive environment, people like him are needed. I don't see anything wrong in this particular clip, much the contrary. It's not really JYP, it's their own desire to be as perfect as possible. I think any artist really striving to achieve that is going to cry now and then. Having someone who can challenge you while helping you improve is a gift.

The song are suppose to be emotional, thats why when I heard it the first time even though I dont used the subs the first time I really thinking "Why do I feel emotional hearing this" furthermore when the MV shows the Chaeryeong part when she has scar on her face. Good job from them all, and if you hear it closely the Lia part in this clip with the result in recording its really is showed that they nailed it in the end..

All JYP wants is for his artists to be their best and reach their true potential. His methods are not meant to appease anyone. They are tough but they create artists and people that are strong and confident in who they are and what they can do. He is the one person that is always on their side. He's like a father figure giving tough love because he doesn't want to sugarcoat anything and give them a false sense of security. That's what a father figure and a leader in industry does. The man knows what he's doing and those that criticize him need to understand that and not be so retaliatory. He always has the best of intentions. That's why his artists are top notch and amazing people inside and outside of Kpop.
Yep, that’s how I’m seeing it. He’s not being angry and he’s setting expectations on sound or trying to help push them to go a little more. It’s a possibility, and what I think the most likely, the tears are just frustrations of trying with all you have at the time, trying to meet your own expectations, but not being quite there yet.
@@0chukasa he didn’t make them cry. They are emotional because they want to get this comeback right so they put pressure on themselves to work harder. It’s not his job to baby them. It’s his job to motivate and shape them into artists. They’re adults working in Kpop. Pressure is always around them.
Well whatever this method did, it definitely worked because the first time i heard the song, i cried. This song focuses heavily on vocals and there is little to no backing track for some parts. It is important that their vocals fully convey the emotional message of this song, or the lyrics would be for nothing. Im so grateful to itzy for working so hard to give up the best quality comeback ❤❤❤❤
After watching Yeji and Lia. I understand one thing that it's way hard to make a new song more than remixing an original song. Proud of ITZY and other kpop groups hardwork. Also appreciate the JYP how they train their group.
All I see is a responsible boss helping the group succeed by pushing them to work hard 🤷 I honestly think this normally happens in every studio and as you know now, ITZY sounds so well 👌
I can feel their anxious-ness and it feels like JYP doesn't even care how they feel. I know he is trying his best but i think he should make it feel like they don't have to make sure he feels proud and all. I love you ITZY
no I'm sure he cares , but yk this album like every one is gonna hear. It needed to be perfect yk, hes hard on them so the the album can be perfect. He's a good coach imo. U can see how he coaches if u watched a bit of a2k. I don't see anything wrong btw..( not tryna fight with u)
It's tough but it's the job. JYP doesn't usually sit through recording sessions so if he's investing his time on them it's because he really wants to help. In the end I think they did a great job with that song.
People still think that J.Y. Park is JYP Entertainment when it is not , there is multiple divisions that work with different groups. Still don't get it how people think that every decision in big company like JYP Entertainment are done by "one person" ... he is not even the CEO!!!
If you think being idol is all fun and happy, you're totally wrong. Don't think that it only happens to Itzy. Other groups also have hard times that make them cry. At least JYPE didn't cut the crying scenes, they ready to receive your expected hate comments. They show you how hard it is to be an idol
you said it right! even outside kpop. you name it - Hollywood, music, sports etc. the kids just just dont understand being in a professional field, and we need to remind them its not all fun and games.
Plus, if you see the company and jyp in this case as villains, you see the group as poor children that needs help. We as humans have the tendecy to be heroes that need to protect them so is even better for the group since there would be more concern and empathy for them as the "poor girls who are trying to succed but their mean ceo is putting them down" when in reality is all the people on internet the ones being rude to them and always commenting about everything they do and seeing them as an object 💀
@darkfrost1901 Are people saying those jobs are easy & always fun, though? I have never heard anyone claim that. People commonly underestimate how difficult being a professional entertainer is & how much work goes on behind the scenes.
@@NotAnotherKuromi many people say it's easy and other people idealize It so much that fantasize on being a celebrity. Some even forget the work and pressure that comes with it
Honestly I just feel bad because most idols do not even get the right vocal training to properly support etc. and then it's their fault for not sounding perfect
As a singe, dancer, and performer myself, I understand what Yeji and Lia are going through. It’s tough and sometimes you want to cry. You cry because you want to be happy and satisfied with the results, knowing you did the very best you could do. The pressure you have can be hard, to the point you cry with your teacher is telling you to fix something. It’s just part of the process of getting a perfect result.
TAKE NOTE : He does this so itzy can grow even more and improve ! without all of these things they will never get any better, so lets not focus on the negative and keep supporting them instead
Watching this actually makes me appreciate and respect soyeon more and moree, the way she handled the member and treat them nicely while recording especially shuhua, how she is being very patience and teach her with respect till she got it right
I know its not easy to see them cry, but i just hope people could just encourage the girls or some other thing that is more positive for the girls instead of bashing JYP, what he do here is working.. just listen the result in "bet on me", i dont think i remember ITZY singing more emotional song than that ever before..
If no one is ever there to push you and say you can do better then your now we can become satisfied with complacency instead of finding our true potential Edit: it’s also so awesome to see a person very passionate about their work JYP has a vision that he wants carried out and he isn’t satisfied with just okay
he is right tho, and we have the proof, the end result is amazing. Both Bet on Me and None of My Business is vocally the best they've ever done. It's amazing.
These inflammatory representations of JYP only serves to get more people to watch the documentary and see for themselves that he's actually really patient, shows how previous songs like wannabe were such masterpieces. He knows what these girls are capable of supports them at every step of the way.
I love Itzy they are my bias girl group but like it’s that they don’t even deserve to be treated like that. I know he was trying to make them better but he could have been more nice abt it, it was more demanding than nice and also Itzy is so under-rated because JYP don’t advertising for them no more so they are basically just out there and a lot of people have forgotten abt them so for him to push them this hard and not get recognition for what they are doing is crazy insane
It's okey to make mistakes it's part of the learning process, I love to see them trying their best, I hope they will be able to recover and own their spot again, not a midzy but all the support and love
This is how JYP does business. He gets what he wants no matter what. Is it bad? No. It's his job to make the girls do their job as singers, not only as visuals. But sure methods can be softer. It is worth remembering the interview with Sunmi where she talked about working with JYP
Softer is one way to put it, I would say he's an incompetent people manager. People bend over backwards to justify terrible behaviour to their favourite Idols but there seems to be a terrible culture at some of these music groups of how to criticise or ask for improvement or something different in a certain area. Compare for example how the producers/sound engineers ~ ask new jeans to alter their vocal style in the Super Shy recording video. They are asking for what they want - and getting it - but no one is treating anyone badly or feeling bad about themselves. It doesn't have to be done the way JYP does it, and just in terms of efficiency and results, his way is clearly the worse.
Lmao, is it bad? Of course it is. This is typical idol treatment. It's known to be rough, working 24/7 with little to no rest and getting shit on. And you wonder why south Korea has the highest rate of suicide. Perfectionism is hot garbage in korea. Let's not condone such horrible treatment and call it what it is. It needs to change and that's a fact.
Stop making excuses for him being a poor producer. Tons of older JYPE idols have complained about him being difficult to work with, giving confusing directions in the studio, and even making them record a single line for up to 19 hours. That’s unacceptable.
@@JenksAnro Comparing the record of ITZY and New Jeans is wrong because the age of the members s completely different. It would be strange to see a producer says something like this at underage girls and bring them to tears
They’re afraid of disappointing him and the fans. They took this seriously which shows how much it means to them. JYP was very patient and tried his best to deliver the constructive criticism as kindly as possible. I see where the anger comes from but y’all gotta understand that high stakes always do this to people. As long as they know how to work together, they’ll get through it. I HOPE ITZY SUPPORTS ONE ANOTHER, through and thin and thick. They need one another for balance
I would be concerned if they had tried to keep this under wraps, but the fact they openly showed it on an official documentary means something to me. The comments and remarks werent made with the intention to hurt, but to push them forward. It could have been said differently and accomplish a similar effect? Maybe, but I dont think its as awful as people make it out to be.
I work on music dept in my country where i focus on making the artists voice stand out and clear.. im amazed that active artists from JYPE didn't use voice editing than other overated idols, ITZY might be a weak vocal line but they proudly use their real voice in their music and not a voice that's filtered too much.. Singers from other companies used too much voice editing that if you listen to it carefully the more obvious it becomes.. that's why they are afraid to sing live coz they are afraid people will criticized them..
Some people hate on him but the song has to convey a confident feeling , so it’s obvious they were feeling down , so he gave them a pep talk and they cried ! He was serious cause it’s work
it may be very harsh on the girls, but i guess JYP really knows their limit and he wants them to do their absolute best for this crucial comeback. stay strong girls ❤
He’s not bullying them and they’re not scared , they’re just tired of recoding for long hours and practicing a lot and i’m so proud of my girls for working this hard 💗💗
They're Professionals people! They're young yes but they're not babies anymore and don't treat them like one. This is everyday lives of professionals whether its music, sports or etc yet only Kpop idols getting treated like they're babies goddamn stop it
It breaks my heart, tbh. They are so young, Lia looks scared at JYP like she just wants his approval and I get why he is being like this with them and the pressure, but I still wish there was a better way. I hope this comeback pays them back all their effort and tears, love to itzy and midzy 💕
Same. That is my feeling. I get the job can be high stress, I get the song is important and needs to be emotional. However, I just don’t like they seem so anxious. There has to be a way to encourage an earnest emotional performance where they can feel more comfortable and confident. Just because pressure works, doesn’t mean it is the only thing that works.
They don't just look anxious, they look plain scared of him, especially Lia. I don't think that's how workers should be around their boss. The girls look tense and afraid. You can see it in their eyes.
I don’t think y’all understand how important this album is for itzy, they haven’t had a comeback in months and they can get to the top if they get this right. JYP is getting the best out of them. Y’all heard the new album right? It is really good and that’s because JYP got them to sing their hearts out and nothing motivates you more then emotions.
The standards of kpop is extremely high especially with the global fans wanting more. JYP wants them to succeed in the industry and unlock their full potential. They signed up for this chance to be one of the greatest and if they keep improving, the members become unstoppable. It’s all about the right mindset and being in an effective team that promotes excellence and sacrifice.
He knows that they have lot of potential and he is helping them to improve. That is why Itzy is better than many kpop groups like look at their wonderful voice, dance like literally everything.
Firstly, I want to say that Lia is in the music business, and she knows that to make a hit currently within the music 'industry' she's got to bring her A game to the table. JYP expects that. I'm sure it's in her contract in so many words. Secondly, being an empath, I can feel she has something else on her mind, some serious to her and that is affecting her day. When you focus in on her eyes the emotion fills me, and I can tell she's not feeling well emotionally but you can also see that she knows what the problem is and it's not something she can just turn off. This is a young girl and girls are emotional and sensitive and these pressures they have on them. Her heart wasn't in it that day. They are all going to have bad days. Now, if it is a consistent behavior of JYP to do this then I would seriously question their motives and actions. But you are right when he tries to make them cry to feel more emotion. Crying is the result of fierce emotions. That might be the wrong type of emotion they should be feeling. Maybe excitement would work better. He is cold because he thinks that way making them feel bad is a good way to go about it. Of course, he's not a therapist....
We appreciate the behind the scenes. I don't think JYP meant to hurt their feelings, if you listen to every suggestion he mad it was dead on. Seeing how good this comeback has been so far shows that it was important to point out the flaws. There is alot of competition out there now and I'm pretty sure they all know it. The end results are what matter if the teaching style can seem a little harsh in people's eyes that don't have a musical background. This is how all great teachers mentor their students even at the high school level.
I know this album is important for them and i know that they have to be powerful both on stage and in their whole career. I also know the importance of putting emotion while singing but it has no importance when you don't produce a more powerful and competitive songs. I love itzy and i know they're both talented and natural beauties but even if i like the title song, i don't think the title song is powerful enough to beat other groups in musical lists if midzy's don't turn the tables by streaming and making viral on tiktok. Songs like spicy, queencard etc. are much more stronger than bet on me and kill my doubt :( im not blaming itzy for it, though. Jyp put pressure on these talented girls but he and his producer team still don't produce powerful and competitive songs like mafia in the morning, dalla dalla, wannabe or loco. They keep messing itzy's career and chance to be viral on global more.
You have literally just defined my thoughts out clearly. I love itzy but the songs of now doesn't give me hit vibes like mafia in the morning and other songs. The songs are a pass but can't defeat the recent songs that are now popping up in kpop. You can already see the competitive ness in kpop songs. I just feel really bad like itzy is falling behind and it is playing harder to catch up.
@@Koala_Kruise and all these are jyp and his team's fault but the ones who take the pressure of jyp's responsibilities are the girls... i saw this shit in got7, too. In a show where Jaebeom and Hwasa was in, Jaebeom's work was showed and that jyp man didn't like his songs, too. He keeps wanting the jyp style in songs instead of musical industry's trending fashion. idk... the only thing i know is that he sucks.
He really needs to figure all this shit out. Itzy is dropping down tye chats and though he is good with what he does, he is really not helping matters right now
I feel so bad about Yeji, like she's of the strongest members and he even turned off the mic, imagine what he could tell that he made her cry like this😢
I mean I saw nothing wrong with this tbh and I do not understand the criticism JYP is getting on social media. He is the producer and has a song in mind, so if it doesn't come out during execution, he has the right to point it out from the artist.
Tbh this is actually called being *strict* . You need to get/hit the perfect vocal that JYP himself is wishing for. He has gone harsh on them not knowing about the beauty of their voice. Sometimes some vocals can be messed up with voice cracks and all, plus JYP himself sings explaining how it should sound like. So, in this way, JYP actually did nothing wrong tho, since some people just hate on them for their voice. JYP is harsh NGL…
it's clear that Jyp really digs Yeji and Lia as strong womens, and it's quite intentional when jyp know it. I understand that other fans are worry about that. Jyp only roasting Yeji, Lia and given good advice. 😊
Perfect practice makes perfect. All of ItZy has the right stuff. ItZy is quality music period. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ working hard to be the best you can be.that’s impressive. ❤️
He doesn’t bully them. He tells them how to sing better. The same situation with Soyeon and Gidle or stray kids and Bangchan. He doesn’t yell or insult them. He just says facts that can help to improve their voices and make this song sounds amazing
Criticism is necessary and normal, but jyp using these annoyed mannerisms (ex. 0:32, exaggerated sighs, glares) instead of staying neutral is not always helpful and can lead to crying. no hate to jyp at all, just observations. end product was still amazing as always :D
I love this guy! He knows exactly what he needs from the talent he coaches. Critical and firm, but not overwhelming, rude, or demeaning. It's people like him that help shape stars into greatness.
It's sad that ITZY felt a bit stressed/sad recording this, as we saw some tears, but JYP knew these girls had more potential and was just trying to push them so the product would come out really well, and it did. The girls were probably teary too because they want the greatest "product" out of these recordings. JYP knows what he is doing, so please don't hate on him. ITZY debuted for a reason guys. They know they have the potential, and so do we Midzys.
There is nothing wrong in this... when we practice any programme for our school our teachers will want it to be perfect ..similarly as a mentor JYP wants the song to be perfect... It is good for their future only... ❤more love to ITZY🎉❤
THAT IS PROGRESS. See how from their debut kept rising and rising till the “itzy are 4th generation leaders” and now their back at the 0 like they built nothing from these 5 years. With JYPAPI keeping them straight ahead, they’ll rise again and probably fall again and we’re gonna watch and support. This is how life works.
They're back at 0 precisely because of JYP. The only skill he has is picking good women for his groups. Their music is AWFUL and 90% of people who continue to listen to it are forcing themselves to in order to support the girls. But when you've got other options with equally awesome girls...well you get this situation. Itzy being popular yet at the bottom at the same time.
I understand what he is doing. He wants to bring out the very best of ITZY talents and the same time to see them cry breaks my heart. Being challenged is not a bad thing.
I am not a midzy but I support them from the start and watching this video I realize that sometimes we need a hard push to achieve the goals in life. Also not a JYP fan but seeing him fixing their singing skill and voice only make them better in the future so people cant criticize them on base off music. And also these time of kpop era when everything is business I like how he personally mentoring them . I am very sorry if I have offended anyone with my comment.
If you're hating on jyp for this. For me, i think you're an egoistic and full of yourself. Of course, it hurts to see and the one experiencing that seems really unlikeable but it's also a way to grow. Jyp knows what he's doing, he's been in the industry for long enough and he wants the best for the girls.
Jyp is not wrong. He knows what comments he group gets for the comebacks in recent years. Like if the song has no good beats but voices have emotionally attacks people then it’s a win.
Y’all ITZY is not the only group who cries. They’re literally kpop idols. And it’s not only kpop idols who cries, also other artists.

Wait what?? I was expecting full on unreasonable criticism but he was just being strict and to the point. Plus their hard work has paid off as their comeback was incredible!

That's why his artists are top notch and amazing people inside and outside of Kpop.
exactly and he’s totally right in his criticism
Yep, that’s how I’m seeing it. He’s not being angry and he’s setting expectations on sound or trying to help push them to go a little more. It’s a possibility, and what I think the most likely, the tears are just frustrations of trying with all you have at the time, trying to meet your own expectations, but not being quite there yet.
It was unnecessary to make them cry tho
@@0chukasa he didn’t make them cry. They are emotional because they want to get this comeback right so they put pressure on themselves to work harder. It’s not his job to baby them. It’s his job to motivate and shape them into artists. They’re adults working in Kpop. Pressure is always around them.
@@ht9851 then why does the title say that tho? Is the creator looking for an argument or being delulu
2:58 Was half expecting him to go in the booth. Tell her "let me show you how it's done" then turn on the mic and go Jayyy Whyyy PeEEeeEEE.
When Yeji hits that last “BELIEVE ME!!” It’s so powerful , really makes you feel the emotion of the song 😢
Well, all of their hard work and tears were worth it. You can really feel their emotions in the final version and I do get emotional hearing it

After watching Yeji and Lia. I understand one thing that it's way hard to make a new song more than remixing an original song. Proud of ITZY and other kpop groups hardwork. Also appreciate the JYP how they train their group.
Demos still exist you know, it doesn't have to do with songs being original or not
All I see is a responsible boss helping the group succeed by pushing them to work hard 🤷 I honestly think this normally happens in every studio and as you know now, ITZY sounds so well 👌
I can feel their anxious-ness and it feels like JYP doesn't even care how they feel.
This song makes me cry almost every time it hits hard. JYP new what needed to be done, but it hurts to see the girls like this none the less.
Stop displaying JYP as villain or bad person, he knows what is right for every group
Nope. Got7
@@SaraRankins.members of GOT7 remained close to JYP even after they left. Literally no artist of JYP sees him in a bad light. Only crybaby fans

People still think that J.Y. Park is JYP Entertainment when it is not , there is multiple divisions that work with different groups.
Still don't get it how people think that every decision in big company like JYP Entertainment are done by "one person" ... he is not even the CEO!!!
The girls are working so hard and their songs are so good.I love them
If you think being idol is all fun and happy, you're totally wrong.
Especially after that sneakers song, as I have herd that it is not very well liked by fans
Watching this actually makes me appreciate and respect soyeon more and moree, the way she handled the member and treat them nicely while recording especially shuhua, how she is being very patience and teach her with respect till she got it right
exactly! i watched g-idles behind the scenes after itzy;s and realized how much better and nicer they are about criticism
i know it’s his job and i respect it but as fans it’s obviously not easy to just watch and stay quiet yk… wishing itzy the best for this comeback!!
I know its not easy to see them cry, but i just hope people could just encourage the girls or some other thing that is more positive for the girls instead of bashing JYP, what he do here is working.. just listen the result in "bet on me", i dont think i remember ITZY singing more emotional song than that ever before..
This is why he keeps making top groups year after year...perfectionist
That's the attitude to be successful ! ITZY Fighting !
If no one is ever there to push you and say you can do better then your now we can become satisfied with complacency instead of finding our true potential
Edit: it’s also so awesome to see a person very passionate about their work JYP has a vision that he wants carried out and he isn’t satisfied with just okay
he is right tho, and we have the proof, the end result is amazing.
You don’t even know him. He could be. Bad person
@@Dolphinboi We all have darkness inside
This is why JYP makes the best artists. He personally instructs the artists, and he’s committed and passionate
I love both there voices they are so awesome I believe in you itzy I choose you
This is how JYP does business. He gets what he wants no matter what. Is it bad? No. It's his job to make the girls do their job as singers, not only as visuals. But sure methods can be softer. It is worth remembering the interview with Sunmi where she talked about working with JYP
Which interview are you talking about?
What are u gonna do if people don’t. You seem mad. Also jyp could be a bad person. U don’t know him
I would be concerned if they had tried to keep this under wraps, but the fact they openly showed it on an official documentary means something to me.
Extremely well said. This needs to be said louder to all kpop fans out there.
Ok, so who do you think as the best vocal line in kpop??

Knowing that she took a hiatus because of anxiety and nervouseness is really sad
These girl are so dedicated…perfection takes sweat and tears if it were easy everyone would do it …not every group can afford a flop right now
it may be very harsh on the girls, but i guess JYP really knows their limit and he wants them to do their absolute best for this crucial comeback. stay strong girls ❤
They were not afraid of him, they were just sad they couldn't pull it off
I don’t think y’all understand how important this album is for itzy, they haven’t had a comeback in months and they can get to the top if they get this right. JYP is getting the best out of them. Y’all heard the new album right? It is really good and that’s because JYP got them to sing their hearts out and nothing motivates you more then emotions.
this song is a work of art and he knew its potential.
I think they tried really hard on this comeback.. maybe that's why Lia was anxious and had to take a break.
so let's show them our support please ㅠㅠ
Jyp is a professional, hes getting them to bring out the best of their voice and i rs that a lot
JYP is such an inspiration to work hard. wealthy but still maintains the desire to work hard
heartless man
Now listening to bet on me will never be the same😭😭😭😭😭Girls worked so much for this
He knows that they have lot of potential and he is helping them to improve.
To me it's awesome that JYP spends time coaching his groups during recordings.
I respect him for being as calm and informative as possible on what he’s looking for, stressful stuff, Itzy is working super hard to stay in it 😭
I know this album is important for them and i know that they have to be powerful both on stage and in their whole career.
A tear now for long smiles afterwards hard work and itzy and to us with beautiful music
Everything will be fine😊
JYP is pushing them hard because he wants the best out of them.
Perfect practice makes perfect. All of ItZy has the right stuff. ItZy is quality music period. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ working hard to be the best you can be.that’s impressive. ❤️
This is the reality when you go to record your vocal
He doesn’t bully them. He tells them how to sing better. The same situation with Soyeon and Gidle or stray kids and Bangchan. He doesn’t yell or insult them. He just says facts that can help to improve their voices and make this song sounds amazing
He's literally indirectly saving those girls from the cruelty of angry netizens should their ego gets unsatisfied
JYP is a great singer and has a lot of experience.
Even been scolded by him is a quite honor.
This gave me more respect for him. It was harsh but it was true. I’m glad to know someone pushing them to be better. He didn’t lie.

Bro i used to disliie itzy but when i saw how much thwy went through i stan them😢

Nothing wrong with that...making music is puting your raw emotions in the song...happy that JYP is pushing them...thats what artist used to do.
Jyp is not wrong. He knows what comments he group gets for the comebacks in recent years. Like if the song has no good beats but voices have emotionally attacks people then it’s a win.
i can’t stand seeing lia and yeji crying like that, when i look at them i really want to cry too.
Y’all ITZY is not the only group who cries. They’re literally kpop idols. And it’s not only kpop idols who cries, also other artists. JYP is a good boss, he chose to not cut out this part to show us how hard it really is to be an idol. We maybe see the idols happy and laugh because they only shows us the good part. But being an idol or artist is not always happy moments etc.
as a musician who also has to record a lot of videos for competitions I can totally relate to how they feel right now... its really so stressful
