My ALL time favorite Handheld is the VX-8! Months ago, my Beloved 8 was stolen out of my vehicle, in my driveway. VERY Ballsy on the thief's part, I dare say! Since the VX-8 is no longer in production, I replaced the stolen radio with a new VX-6, also an EXCELLENT radio. Six weeks ago, a used VX-8 showed up on the Ham Radio Outlet Website in the San Diego Store. Though I like my VX-6 a lot, I HAD to have that VX-8. I bought it and shipped to my home in just 2 Days. It came with Two Batteries, and a Speaker Mic-ALL for just $200.00. I have decided to KEEP BOTH radios. I LIKE having TWO Rigs that communicate on 220 Mhz. AND the "new" VX-8 came with the MARS /CAP Mod. I use the VX-6 as my everyday Radio, and keep the VX-8 for special events or Emergency uses. I will loan the VX-6 out to 1 or 2 trusted friends on occasion, but the VX-8 STAYS WITH ME-PERIOD!
I just got one in the mail today. First impressions are that it's a very nice little rig. Sensitivity is really good and the included antenna works well. I'm able to access one repeater that is about 45 miles away, albeit at an altitude of 4200 feet. It's light in weight but has a solid feel in the hand. I like the fact that it has coverage of the weather channels and the ability to receive the FM broadcast band could come in quite useful.
I noticed you had several things activated on your screen. I just picked up 3 of these so I am still learning about this unit and about HAM in general. Pt1 and Pt2 taught me so much... I would love for a tutorial on how to set one of these up from the Factory settings.
I'm an old Advanced class ham -KF4MBX. I've spent three nights trying to figure out the memory on this thing. I can enter it all I want, but I cannot retrieve it without putting it in manually. What I wouldn't give for an old school ht with 10 memory settings that I could actually use.
thanks for the video. i setup a radio scanner a while back and it was tough. it was one of those that was about the size of a car stereo and was meant to set on a surface and plugged in. anyways, in order to listen to law enforcement chatter i had to set it up on trunked mode. my entire state is ran this way. does the scanner in your video support trunked scanning?
I just picked one of these up. I have a question. Does your volume seem to fluctuate on its own? It's hard to explain, other than it's a bit like someone is partially covering the speaker, then not, then covering it again. Something doesn't seem right. It's super annoying, to say the least.
There is a feature call “compander” which may be turned on. This is supposed to eliminate background noise, but does sound weird. Maybe that’s turned on?
@@design2survive I'll check it out. Also, I'll make sure to get out away from local "noise". I'm temporarily stationed in a noisy suburban area. Lots of rf garbage here. It may be pumping the AGC in the front end. Thanks for your reply.
"IN DEPTH" but there was no mention of what antenna connector it has, it is very imnortant for people who are planning to buy this with an aftermarket antenna.. so not so in depth as you have mentioned.. maybe change the title to suit the lacking review

Well-spoken, informative, good quality video - subbed before the 3 minute mark.

Usually the tone is activated. Mine has some dtmf tones programmed, but most people won’t use that.
Yeah, it’s a kick ass radio. I find myself picking up this radio over my more expensive rigs. It’s a winner.
Man, video cut out at the best part.

I hope you figured out how to save. It's pretty easy on this model.

Can you tell me, what the different between yaesu ft-4x with yaesu ft-65?

That FT-65 looks like an FT-4 with a Gland Problem, LOL!
Will this radio decode unknown CTCSS and DCS codes?
You can sort of do it with rev tone, but I don’t think it will scan like the higher end ones.
It does have an "auto" setting that I think does that. I'm still learning this HT.
Thanks
What is the HT antenna model
The antenna is stock.
And it holds 200 repeaters. No one mentions memory on it.
Please, can you Tell me what kind of antena show? I love It, thanks!!
Chinese will make things cheap when they can, realize they also make your iPhone and much more...
