As an older man I confess, this was my favorite song oft the awesome Gloria Gaynor, first the great lyrics but also the wonderful music and harmonies in this song,
Another dance floor classic and as soon as that piano note dropped everyone was on the dance floor. Actually seeing Ms. Gaynor performing this song live was incredible and and to see every woman singing along in unison is something that I will never forget 💃🎵🎶🎼😎
So this caught my eye as I hung out in the discos in the 70’s , always loved this one and surprised you young people know all the lyrics and love it. Awesome song and review, thanks.

Always though of this song as the "twin song" to "Don't Leave me this way", maybe cause I had them on the same 70s hits cd when I was a kid, but thinking about it the lyrics ressembles each other in opposing ways.
Andy Kaufman's alter ego Tony Clifton both played by Jim Carrey does a hilarious nightclub version of this song in the 1999 biopic of Andy called 'Man on the Moon.'😆

This is such an iconic song and anthem. It is consistently ranked as one of the top 10 disco songs of the 70's. Gloria Gaynor's first notable song was her Jackson 5 cover of "Never Can Say Goodbye". Before Donna Summer came along, Gloria Gaynor was considered the Queen of Disco.

A very iconic song for any person regardless of their gender! It's not just surviving a relationship, but surviving life which is no easy feat! Surprisingly this was originally the B-side of a single much to Gaynor's dismay, as she thought it would be a hit. The record company stood firm so Gaynor's husband took the B-side to a number of clubs and asked them to platy it. It became a club hit and was eventually picked up by radio stations and went to #1. The original A-side of the single barely cracked the Top 100.
