- Abused and forgotten Donkey!! What Can I Do to Help?? This Donkey called Elvis was bought by the best man as a wedding present! Soon he was left with 500 sheep to fend for himself. He was chased my quad and motorbikes and abused often! His Rescuers started well with him but due to ill health things have turned bad. Elvis cant be lead around and needs heavy sedation to have his feet tended to, his feet were so bad when he was rescued that he need them operating on! here Steve and Dan try to help him and teach him to lead a little better. I volunteer at Donkey and Equine Haven USA in Celina, Texas. We take in donkeys and horses from kill pens. Unfortunately, we see animals in similar condition often. It is tragic. We take animals of any age and condition and give them whatever medical, hoof, dental and nutritional care they need. Our goal is to find them forever loving homes. Thank you for featuring this donkey. Love your videos! I have learned so much from you!
God bless you for all that you do for these poor innocent creatures. I pray for the day when it is no longer needed and people learn to take proper care of them.
The day is upon us when many changes are coming. Now is the time to understand to love on another, especially animals.
Those filled with hate & cruelty will no longer be apart of the new world.
You may not understand this now, but by 2025 it will be understandable.
Benevolent blessings to you 🍀
Thank you.
This is amazing! I would love to know the process of how to go about providing a forever home for a horse or two and maybe a donkey. The majority of our chicken flock is rescues, our two goats were rehomed to us. One was rejected from the goat Mom and the other was bullied on the farm she was at. They are the best. I see a dairy cow, and a horse or two in our future. And after watching Elvis, I am now thinking perhaps a donkey. Our barn is set up for goats only. A horse or donkey would kick right through the metal and metal panel fencing we have in there. I need to see about a seperate stall house made of proper materials to properly house the horse and donkey. God Bless you.

Waving at you from Richardson! Thank you for doing what you do. Your heart is made of gold.
Previous owners should be charged with animal cruelty. So happy that Elvis found a new home with someone that will love & care for him. ❤ So impressed with the technique you used to train Elvis. Now he deserves a warm bath.
Change his name. Let him hear something new called to him hes such a beauty, just wants to be loved.
As in, little Honey?

Stevie, as in Stevie Wonder.
Elvis seems such a gentle soul - just trying to survive in a world that has not been kind to him. You are God's blessing to him. Great job Steve. ❤
Poor little donkey, such a silly wedding present and just abandoning is cruel, thoughtless, immature, how many more words. So glad Elvis is on the mend and with people who really care.
I agree , there are good people.
Whenever Steve says, "Tell him how good he is," it just makes me deeply happy. "Can he? Yes he can. Tell him how good he is." 💗
Precious boy, finally getting the love and care he always deserved…
Thank you Steve ♥️
@lifewithlarue3149 - I don't know about love but trust is absolutely the key as Steve has shown many, many times. And he establishes that trust so quickly that it's heartbreaking to think his ability seems to be so rare.
Oh Steve and Dan so wonderful of you both to help little Elvis ❤
The poor little abused soul. You are my Heroes for helping this donkey, and all the others you rescue. ❤❤❤❤❤
It is disgusting that this donkey was neglected and abused the way he was. I'm so glad he was rescued and thanks to them and you he is now on a good path.
He is obviously very intelligent! He very quickly understood what was wanted, and cooperated beautifully once he knew what they wanted.
So angry this poor animal was frightened so badly by nasty kids. So cruel….❤ thank you for your caring for him.
Were they kids? I think it was the married man and his mates. Not kids.
@@janetdonald9801 was it? To me anyone under 40 is a kid! 😂
Elvis is so freaking cute!! Thank you for saving this little man.
Thank you to the people who rescued Little Elvis. Steve, your magic is just astonishing to watch in action! Thanks for showing how even abandoned and neglected animals WANT to love and trust and will do so if just given the care and respect they deserve. Well done for saving this beautiful boy!
It makes me sick that people can be so cruel to animals. God Bless you for doing so much for the beautiful animals you work with.
my mom gave me a donkey long ago. rescued from burro ropers. She was wild and scared. We did everything together. She wasn't just a donkey, she was my best friend. Thank you Steve for sharing this beautiful journey.
Crying.poor baby. And yes ,I know he's equine, but look at his sad little face..Thank you all for helping him
I'd change his name, not that it's any of my business, but that name brings pain memorise...A loving gentle or cheeky name.
Than God Almighty he was rescued
Thank. .this phone a rip off
Thank you to everyone in the video for Elvis! I hope he feels more comfortable on his little legs now... He's really sweet. I wish him a very happy life. 🙏✨😊
I hope the people were prosecuted!! This is unacceptable and they don't need to walk Scot free for what they have done to this poor highly sensitive animal. People make me sick!!!!!!
Sadly, I doubt it, but I hope those monsters were named and shamed in their community.
Another tear jerker...tears of JOY...lucky Elvis! Thank you Steve, Tanya and Dan and rescuers...hoping Elvis will enjoy the rest of his life. 🇨🇦🥰Sharon.
No living being of any kind deserves such mistreatment. Thank you Steve. Thank you and others like you.❤❤❤
Thank God for humane treatment of Elvis! Thank God for good people. God Bless.
He started to listen and watch. I saw the relief, the understanding that you, Steve, are a kind leader..so sad for this lad.
You can see him starting to understand it’s a beautiful thing to watch
People need to be worried that they will be confronted when they neglect and abuse animals.
You don't give animals as a gift, unless you _know_ that the person really wants an animal. In this case, I have a feeling that it was done as a bit of a joke - hahaha - which only makes it that much worse. It led to absolute misery for this little donkey. Both groom and best man are asses (no pun intended), if you ask me. On a different note: Elvis is so cute! I just want to brush him and oil his hoofs and make him all pretty. 🐣🐴 #ElvisSpaDay
Yes, the future owner must to really want an animal, but I think it's still not enough: the future owner should chose himself his animal to make as sure as possible both click together.
Poor little guy. Still, at my age, have a hard time stomaching how awful some people are. Glad people like you counter this to a degree. Thank you ❤️🇨🇦
I’m 68 and I have an easier time expecting people to do the wrong thing because I’ve seen it so many times
This was wonderful to watch. Five humans who wanted nothing but the best for Elvis. I bet Tanya shed a few tears along with the owners. The world is a better place with you in it. You need to know that ❤❤
Love it, love it, love it! Thank you for sharing your compassionate and amazing work.
Wow. Such a transformation. They just need to understand that you're on their side and can communicate consistently. He's clearly a very sensitive intelligent animal. He tuned into a happy little donkey! Great work!
Elvis knew your intentions! So much energy goes into being scared. I bet he felt so good to be able to let that go after all he's been through.
I raised donkeys in Montana for several years. I broke several of them to ride, and our daughters rode them in the mountains where we had our cabin. They were full of personality and loved attention. One jenny we bought as a weanling and had until she died at the age of 25. We took her to many parades, classroom show and tells, and even showed her in a trail class against horses at the county fair. I found them all to be responsive, very smart, and quite trainable as long as you didn't overface them. They are cautious and get an underserved rep for stubborness when really they are hesitating if they are unsure of their circumstances. I'm 80 now and just have two horses, no donkeys, but if I were younger, I'd have another one in a heartbeat. They do need regular hoof trimming and limited pasture availabilty or they will founder.
What does “overface them” mean?
I thought I'd heard they were very smart.
@@jangillen4622 it means giving them a task or workload that’s outside their (current) capabilities.
A few years back I volunteered at The Donkey Sanctuary and received training about physiology and psychology of donkeys compared to eg horses/ponies - it was v surprising and it is good to see this donkey saved from it's unnecessarily awful situation ... the irresponsibility of buying an animal without any thought abt its welfare is frightening.
so gratifying to see a precious being realize he can TRUST 🌸🕊️💗🦋
The first and Most Important Step Steve Young made when he First handled the rope was to follow Elvis around , following him in his determination to keep on turning to the right , dragging anyone with him, that alone was THE Crucial step for all that followed, then leading him for a while from the right , it clearly had a mental effect on Elvis ,already establishing a more relax interaction , A New Perspective on humans ...Quality and Grace again.. Thanks so much , I will add that precious knowledge to my daily horsemanship.. Rachel🐎🐎🐎
I have heard the even use donkeys as ”guard dogs” for other animals as they are such protective.
True. Grew up on a big ranch in the Texas hill country and we kept donkeys with our angora goats as protectors.
Yes, I saw a small herd of cattle with a guard donkey.
This was so wonderful to watch. A poor donkey who didn’t have a great start, was lost with no direction. Now through this lovely couple & with your direction & the help of Dan; a happy ending. You could see Elvis just melt & that’s a testament to you giving him confidence & building trust with him 👏
Thank you for your caring service and leadership. What a lovely donkey 🌻
What a team you and Dan made to help Elvis get his hooves cared for without sedation!
It was the respect and positivity you gave Elvis! I loved this video and happy for Elvis and humans too.
This was heartwarming to see how Steve in a short time can improve this little guy's life so much. I never knew how donkeys can be really playful until I watched some videos of a happy donkey that seems to be someone's pet. This donkey loves squeaky toys - especially rubber chickens. It is a riot to see him walk on his hindlegs with his latest new toy, squealing with joy and then run in circles making his toy squeak. I wish Elvis will have a happy future also where his personality can grow.
💔😥thank you for helping him. God bless these rescuers ❤
How wonderful that this gentleman took the time to speak the language of donkey. A whole other perspective. Might I say, WORST WEDDING PRESENT EVER!!!!! Then to be chased by bikes and atvs - it’s a wonder he’s recovered. Well done Sir! He’s adorable! ♥️
Hey!! I’m near Birmingham, Alabama and have donkeys. Great video! For me, donkeys were a bit more challenging than horses. I totally had to bribe, with feed, one of mine to behave for the farrier. He and I both “got it” when I would take away the feed with bad behavior. That and a solid farrier and he is as good as gold now!! Thank you for showing donkeys. So many horse trainers will not even try with donkeys. Well done Mate👍🏻
" My son-in-law, Dan." Sounds good, doesn't it. Nice to be able to work with Dan to get this little fella's feet in order. Elvis.
I cant bare it, my heart is absolutely broken for him and all abused by vile humans. Thank god there are good humans that help not destroy.....my heart is 💔
I understand your response but lately I’ve started to believe that animals are awakened souls who are here in part to soften our hearts and teach us to love. Dear sweet Elvis is on a mission! Don’t misunderstand - I don’t want anything or anyone to suffer but truly believing there is a higher purpose and that something bigger is happening really helps me let go of so much negativity and that leaves more room for loving energy. This increases my vibration and therefore the vibration of this beautiful planet. Just wanted to share this in case it helps you too. Blessings.
@lisamclain2549 aw thankyou for your kind reply, as like so many my heart has been broken at the hands of people and iv become so so angry and bitter , im just being completely honest im really struggling not to become completely hateful towards the human race .....I truly belive if the world was left to animals and nature its would be absolutely beautiful, void of animal abuse.Child abuse, wars the list is endless. Like a lion who has just ate will happily allow a zebra walk on by...animals kill to protect themselves or to eat. A lot of humans kill and destry for the sake of it . I know I sound very negative but not all is lost as i also see the people like these rescuers and people who rescue animals all over the world taking care of them. But 9 times out of 10 the animal is in that state because of the human who mistreated them in the first place 😢.......❤
@@g1000- I so appreciate that you took what I wrote in the way I intended. Thanks for that! It sounds like you have certainly been through the darkness. I’m not religious but I am spiritual and the thing that helped me suffer less and move further into lightness was when I finally got to a place where I knew I couldn’t stand it anymore and asked for help from above. Through various experiences, many of which were mind blowing, I have come to be certain that there are Energies in our universe who are just waiting for us to ask so that they can help us. I am sending loving energy to you and encourage you to imagine that there is love all around you. Feel it, allow it, and give thanks for it. I’m pretty sure you will be glad! May your life be filled with blessings. Lisa
Poor thing😢 it's good to see Steve work his magic ❤ Donkey whisperer now as well.
What an adorable donkey! How can anyone abuse an animal? I don’t understand it.
This was an amazing video to watch! To see the changes in Elvis’ attitude in such a short time was nothing short of miraculous! Mr. Young, you are the absolute best!
Sweet. Thank you Steve, Tanya and Dan for sticking with it. His hoofs look now really so much better.
I am so happy that I found your training videos. I have watched so many different trainers trying to learn how to work with my horse better. You are the first one to teach how to train but show your horse love and respect at the same time. It makes all the difference in the world. I have a 20 year old Haflinger that was dropped off on my property last year. I have no idea of his history or what he knows. I have been using your techniques and he is really beginning to learn and respond. I can't thank you enough. 😊
Ohhhh I think I’m in love with Elvis the Donkey!! WHAT a sweet donkey. Learned a lot about stubbornness and possible ways to deal with it. God Bless Jan and John 😊
The way he’s so gently licking the lick😂 he really is a good boy. He just didn’t know anything
Thank God and his Rescuers and You for saving him from such dreadful conditions and treatment. Poor ol' fella. I do hope he'll be set up for the remainder of his life. God Bless you all.
😢Heart breaking story....please if you cant look after an animal then GIVE THEM UP..!❤Beautiful Elvis❤ Thankyou Steve and Tanya🎉 and his parents❤and Dan❤
Oh Elvis you melt my heart ♥️
Does anyone ever get charged? Thank you rescuers.❤❤❤❤
Great filming yet again Tanya, thank you ❤
And Elvis left the building a much, much happier little person ❤ what a beautiful video and such a heartwarming transformation from a scared little donkey to one who feels safe with having his feet dealt with. Well done you guys!
Well done Steve and Dan….and well done Elvis😍
Lots of very sad cases with donkeys here in Ireland. Most not handled, and feet sawn by owners with a saw when they start to curl over.
My own lovely farrier told me how he was kicked by a donkeys back hoof….while he was trimming the front one😖
Thankyou so much to the couple that have given Elvis such a lovely home xxx
Poor little gaffer! So glad it worked out (not that I had any doubts).
So heartwarming when you change the future projection of these equines (donkey or horse), for the better!
Thanks for sharing! 🙏🙌❤️🇨🇦✝️
Oh this little guy is so lucky to have been rescued and now to have had some halter training with you Steve and a lesson in picking up his feet without sedation, his world is a wonderful place and looking up! God Bless this dear couple and their kind hearts ❤❤🤠
Thank God you rescued this poor little guy. It is heartbreaking to see how cruelly these innocent creatures are so often treated.
Good thing he had not learned to bite and they can cow kick. I have seen way to much animal neglect over my life's journey and been pro-active in calling it in. And you know it continues and is so sad in the year 2024 with so many advantages to learn from folks like Steve and family. There is really no excuse for it given the various social platforms where people can observe, learn or request assistance. I had adopted a sweet little pinto donkey from the BLM in Nevada and she was such a joy to my life.
Steve did great job for Elvis ❤❤❤ amazing little donkey
I get the impression that Elvis is a smart donkey. I don’t know if all donkeys are smart, but he seemed to catch on quickly that a. He was not going to be hurt, and b. everyone actually meant him well. He seemed to be struggling with the courage to face his fears more than anything. Perhaps I am wrong and you were all at it for three hours!
🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉
Wow what a wonderful outcome, you guys make an awesome team. Thank you for your expertise Steve and Dan and thank you to the rescuers of Elvis. His future is looking even brighter and certainly more peaceful. ❤
I LOVE donkeys so much, this was beautiful. Thank you Steve 🙂
You are the best. Bravo!
What an incredible transformation in such a short space of time. Whe he relaxed after the leading, his ears were forward and he didnt look half as shut down as he did when he started.
The way his head dropped when dan went to grab his hoof was heartbreaking though. Im so pleased he got through that
Amazing that this animal moves at all even with his much improved feet. I can almost feel him remembering old pain as Steve convinces him his world has changed !
So happy he is in a loving caring home! Thank you Steve, Dan and Tanya for helping sweet Elvis!
WONDERFUL, absolutely wonderful, a gifted lesson to watch.
Thank you Steve, Tanya, rescuers and patient blacksmith for this for Elvis.
Elvis will live in tender kindness -as it should be.
Karma will come to those who treated him poorly.
Benevolent blessings Elvis 🍀
In the beginning he was learning and recognizing your gentle touch. But the feet...poor guy
Youll get him to trust again😊
He looks unbothered at the end. Lucky Elvis to have found such a great group to care for him and train him. Go Elvis!!!
What would we do without you. My heart sings to see this wee fella getting a better life.
That beautiful horse seems to be worried about what they are doing to his donkey friend!
Oh that was amazing work guys and we must thank the Lord for the two beautiful rescuers giving gorgeous Elvis a second chance 🙏🙏
Elvis just needed to be taught - now he has the info and lots of love. 😊
Beautiful little guy! What a struggle for the three of you. None of it Elvis’s fault either.
People! Who’d have ‘em, eh?
Happy Trails all, from Northern California.
Another wonderful video thank you Steve, Tanya & Dan 🐴❤️
I just can't watch this. Thank God for kind people that rescue horses. I also have saved a few.
Hey, I managed to watch and it was amazing. What a lovely little donkey. Hope his life is better going forward.
The Steve/Dan dream team is saving this little donkey’s feet! Bless those who rescued this poor little guy. ❤❤
That was beautiful work with Elvis pleasure to watch thank you.
How beautiful that you could help him overcome his fears enough to be trimmed.
I hope he'll continue down this path for his health and the financial benefits for his new owners ❤
Thank you Steve, Dan and our trusted videographer Tania ❤
Poor Elvis! I am so thankful that you came to help him. How could people do something to an animal like this?
Amazing! You worked pure magic with Elvis....i never thought you could trim his hooves!
Never pull a donkey. Amen. Poor baby. 😢
What a beautiful video! Thank you for showing this.
The donkey is adorable. Thank you for caring for him, all of you
Thank you Steve. 🎉
Thank you, as always, for sharing this donkey's story. Elvis is fortunate in so many ways. I do hope you will share the full video for the re-trim in a few months. I'm certain Elvis will remember his positive experience with you and Dan and it will go well, just as you say. Another wonderful video.
Aww the poor little donkey. Thanks Steve and Dan xx
Love your kindness and whole knowledge about animals❤❤❤
Steve, thank you for your knowledgeable help to so many animals! Your skills are incredible!
I watch your videos daily, and appreciate how you teach the animals and the owners how to handle them correctly!
Were you able to rescue this mule to save his life and protect him from further disfiguration of his feet!
Prayers for Little Elvis
Another visit to this wonderful couple who care so well for those they rescue. You helped them with a horse a while back, and now you've been able to change a donkey's life for the better. Well done, everyone! So good to see, and to know that your work continues.
I got kicked by a donkey once and had the impression of a hoof in my leg for a year. Totally my fault. ❤love what you do.😊
It never stops being beautiful to see a balanced animal after a bit of work done with integrity to the process.
Awesome job. I cried at the beginning because I could see he was so lost.
And then I cried at the end because of joy.!!
😊❤
It's awesome to see Elvis is going to have a better life, now.
Thank you Steve and Dan for your patience and good instruction. And for loving these equine animals.
God bless you and keep you all safe.🎉❤
Thank you God for people who care. Please bless them always ❤️ 🙏. Amen
That actually made me cry with joy. Thanks, guys. You are the bomb ❤🎉😊
A wonderful video. Poor little chap, who hopefully now his life will keep getting better. This must give you great satisfaction Steve to know you have made such a difference.
Oh, what a sweet little fellow! And I LOVED seeing his little pink tongue licking from the blue tin! I'm so glad for him that this training session worked out so well for him!
