My father had just his calling to meet our Lord above. I grieve upon his passed away and feel bitterness inside. This song give peace and calmness to my soul. My God bless your talent.
Troy. I have sung my entire life in choirs from boys choir all the way to professional. When people wonder why I like Choir music so much, I will now be able to show them this arrangement. Wonderfully done, glorious music, and an excellent arrangement. God Bless.
I’m very curious whose voices are recorded here. I instantly recognize the voices from a piece called “Give Us Some Music” (found only on JW Pepper sadly) which is my all-time favorite choir pieces. Very nice to hear their voices again
what a stunningly beautiful arrangement of this song and the vocalists performing it deserve a real attaboy for their rendering in such a sensitive but powerful way. it moved me to tears...thank you for posting this.
Alan: This is a BEAUTIFUL arrangement! I plan on having my Concordia Sacrae Singers Choral Ensemble perform this on an all gorgeous hymn arrangement concert in Tampa, Florida next Spring. We will also likely record it professionally the following day of our concert. Thank You for writing this! It's excellent!
When I found this piece by accident my heart stopped when I first heard the vocals. I can't believe I can't find this piece anyway to buy. I can't stop listening to it. This would make a beautiful piece to have in the in the selections for Solo and Ensemble for large group. Beautiful piece I love it and I can't wait to hear what you do next.
What a wonderful creation great job for this beautiful piece thanks for sharing this on UA-cam 😊 Hope we can sing this with my choir mates some day 😊 Godbless!!!
Wow. I didn't know that Sibelius was using a hymn in Finladia. I haven't known this specific song before, so hearing it now adds context to Finlandia that makes it even better.
It is actually the other way around. Finlandia came first. Given the popularity of the theme, Sibelius later arranged it into a song. This english version is set to a different text.
@@nncortes Yeah, I learned about that about a week after I made this comment, but I was too lazy to go back to correct myself. But thanks anyway. I appreciate it.
I'm awfully surprised to see there is not a slight mention of the composer of this masterpiece, neither on UA-cam presentation, nor on the score. Incredible !! For your information the composer is : Jean Sibelius (1865-1957)
From Sibelius' fine work "Finlandia". I played this symphonical poem at a music school youth Symphonic orchestra many years ago at 1985. I would get to know if the melody is written by Sibelius or from the United States or from Finland and tradited.
Do you have an (or any) examples of the voices individually (or know where I could find some)? I'm trying to find good examples of SATB voices to play for my students. It's elementary and I'm introducing voice range, pitch, and timbre.
Dear Alan Davis. As a farewell and thank you, I wanted to commemorate the choir teacher at the high school for being such a wonderful director, and for never failing to be there when we needed her. As a thank you from myself and seven other students, (as well as a collective one from all of her students), we decided to come together and sing this piece to her. There is eight of us, but I have not been able to find your piece to purchase to give you proper credit. This piece is gorgeous and very well arranged, and I'm sad because I feel like using this piece without your consent or without purchase is just not right. I really want to do something to thank you for sharing this piece and to give you credit where credit is due. Please reply back, if it is not alright to use this piece or to try to make a document version of it to be easier to look at while studying, please tell me as soon as possible and I will get rid of everything immediately. Thank you so much for such a wonderful piece. I'm sorry to say all of this to you openly, but I could not find a personal email address. Sincerely, Farrah B.
Hi Christy: Yes, I can provide you with the sheet music for my arrangement of Be Still My Soul. Please email me if interested. atdchoral@gmail.com Unfortunately, Maria Christina has provided you with a link to my sheet music, illegally. Since I own the copyright of my music and sell the sheet music myself, I cannot allow Maria to post my sheet music for free. That is a huge violation of the copyright.
Hi! Do you mind if we could use the sheet music for our choir group! We'll give you credit because you absolutely deserve it. Thank you very much! We love it!
I am wanting to get this sheet music for a High School Ensemble. I looked down through the comments to see if a website was listed where it can be located. I did not see one. So, how does one get to purchase this great arrangement?
Finlandia is as important to us as our national song. This just feels so stolen. What next? Put new words to our national hymn, as well, and turn it i to a church hymn? 😔
It's just one dude singing all the parts. Seriously, a well-written piece. I certainly wish it was sung by a competent choir and not a very odd sounding individual… LOL
yeah, there's something wierd there --- the vibrato is perfectly matched --- maybe it's just the compression and eq they added or maybe its auto-tune, or maybe he just sings that consistantly
My father had just his calling to meet our Lord above. I grieve upon his passed away and feel bitterness inside. This song give peace and calmness to my soul. My God bless your talent.
The most beautiful music and words,in all the world ever. Thank You.
Seriously the best arrangement of this hymn. You do it a lot of justice. Cheers

I may actually bring this up to a discord server I'm apart of
This is the prettiest arrangement of this song that I have ever heard. I shared it on my Facebook timeline.
너무 감동입니다. ❤*❤

Stunning.
Such a beautiful arrangment!
@Alan Davis that is really lovely.
One of my favorite hymns since first hearing it at Harding University in 1979. This arrangement is breathtaking and beautifully sung as well.
SO BEAUTIFUL!!
Magic arrangement!
very powerful and beautiful piece
I hear an overtone too. It's a wonderful version
It took me to the middle of the song to realize this was the lyrical passage in one of my All County Orchestra pieces, Finlandia! Beautiful!
Lovely!!! My favorite!!!
This was simple, yet so touching and powerful.
I just got told at church to practice this song for our upcoming concert. Thank God i can practice with this!
Interesting variation on the traditional words. Beautifully arranged and performed!

Yes, and a Tartini tone

Superb!

Glória a Deus
I watched how he conducted the choir. It was pretty amazing? I hope I can sing with you someday. hehe.

Reminds me of Ave Maria ttbb.
Is that Matthew Curtis who is singing? Sure sounds like him
I think it is! I recognize that beautiful voice anywhere!
Shame on them for not crediting Matthew! We have commissioned his tracks before and they are always great!
This literally sounds like my choir teacher is singing this
That’s literally what I was about to say once I hear the first few seconds
I hope people are aware that this is the Finlandia hymn by Jean Sibelius with minor alterations and different lyrics.

Yhave os abençoe chalom.
can we have the sheet music of this song for my school's choir?? It's amazing!!!
Somehow I would like to read the name of the author, not just the “arrangement”. It is Jean Sibelius and his hymn Finlandia. Pls. mention it!

Hi. How did you get Sibelius to sing actual syllables instead of just the default vowels?
Irvin San Pedro I believe that's actually Matthew Curtis singing it. I recognize that voice anywhere
Where can I purchase this wonderful arranging
Hi! Do you mind if we could use the sheet music for our choir group! We'll give you credit because you absolutely deserve it. Thank you very much! We love it!
Emily,
Please email me at atdchoral@gmail.com and we can talk about this.

Is it an all male choir??? It sounds like the soprano and alto are male
I'm pretty sure its just one person singing this. My choir teacher always made our part tracks just like this and it sounds a lot like him as well.
Do you use melodyne?
This is finlandia😯😯😯😯😯
All hail Sibelius.
Finlandia
Did you multitrack record this yourself? Amazing if so! I can't find the performer details anywhere
Kurt Richter it sounds like he did, absolutely incredible!
Finlandia is as important to us as our national song. This just feels so stolen. What next? Put new words to our national hymn, as well, and turn it i to a church hymn? 😔
Why such a fake sound?
It's just one dude singing all the parts. Seriously, a well-written piece. I certainly wish it was sung by a competent choir and not a very odd sounding individual… LOL
