The Australian national Championships and the Annual Interstate Regatta were held in 2012 for the first time on the new Champion Lakes Rowing Course. In very hot conditions New South Wales were looking to equal their previous best performance in the King's Cup of 5 wins in a row ( last done by NSW in 1974-78). Victoria grabbed and early lead and NSW with a number of pushes through the mid part of the race came through for a record equalling victory.
