The performer is Diamanda La Berge Dramm. The microtones used are chosen in one of three different ways: Haas either suggests the relationship between high partials in the overtone series, selects pitches that are present in the overtones of a given note that a passage is structured around, or he wobbles around some selected pitch, picking notes that are adjacent by a quarter-step or half-step in an effort to blur the note and thus its harmonic relationship to other notes.
