I wonder if the screw on that knob would go thru the hole on the tray. That would have been easy. Still haven't used my knobs from last year yet. Thanks for the ideas.
I actually tried that. It was a little to big, however, I'm sure that with the proper drill bit you could carefully ream it out.

When you grabbed those plastic bowls I instantly seen lamp shades due to the shape. 😂 I’m making DIY lamps so my mind went there. Which Dollar Tree did you go to? I tend to go to those closest to me. The bug viewers can be opened, just us the tip of your finger nail and at the tip of the rim just pop it off the top opening is very thin and will just pop off
OH, MY GOODNESS!! You're so right!! Thank you for letting me know. Chris and I could not figure out how to get them open and we finally gave up! This Nana is going to have some fun with CJ and some bugs when I go visit in August!
If you can take the pictures out and turn them over, you can place the bugs on top of them and view them that way!
That would be great, except the "cases" are not open in any way so there is no way to contain the bugs and keep them from crawling out. If the cases were open on the bottom that would work great.

My grandsons are 5 & 7 and love those big finders!
Are they able to put real bugs in theirs or are they just looking at the pictures? I would think they would get bored quickly with the pictures.
