This was such fun! First off I got to meet Dan the amazing fish shipping Guru! Such a nice guy, had a great time. Then I got to experience his very cool and professional way of shipping fish. And finally I received some super nice and very healthy new fish. Finally It's been a couple months and all are doing well and have settled in very nicely. Simply one of the very best shipments of fish I've ever received!
@greenwatertheory-rv3te • any chance to get a new look is always appreciated and thankfully they're have been several creators doing Dean's fish room enough
I've ordered from you several times here in Illinois and the fish are always super healthy and the boxing top notch. Dean is awesome I first saw him through Cory's channel and then KeepingFishSimple.
I think all of us hate shipping costs these days. Although shipping is outrageous, the handling and shipping preparations shown in this video almost justifies the costs. If only more of that went to the shop and less to the postal office. Very impressed
Yep...shipping is brutal. Got a notice from UPS that they are raising their rates later this month. We're trying to see if there is a way we can absorb that without raising our shipping costs for our customers. Fingers crossed!
It is easy to see that you have a background in teaching. This is THE most INCREDIBLE informational videa I have ever seen! I've seen many of your unboxings and podcasts, and have been curious about the whole process that got you to 90%. Thank you Thank you Thank you for putting this together !
It really is something to see how you've refined your shipping processes. I'm thinking of the video where you were hand crimping the bags. Sometimes I think it might be a bit too involved but hey, the numbers speak for themselves.
Don't let the fancy equipment fool you. You can do pretty much the same thing at home. I did it for years in my basement with a simple hand run impulse sealer and a canister of oxygen from a welding supply shop.
It’s been awhile since I watched some fishtube videos. Happy to see Dan and Dean together in a video! Really cool video to come back to! Makes me want to go shopping too.😅
As a graphic designer/illustrator, I must say I LOVE your label printer. Your shipping process is great and I can't wait to support you again with more purchases soon. Happy holidays DF crew!
Wow! Soooooooo cool!!! Thanks for showing the behind-the-scenes. The neon green tetras I ordered in July are all still doing great. The cardinal tetras from two weeks ago are ‘fat and sassy’. 😂
Love the label on the bag, I have ordered fish here in Australia and had no labels and fish that were very similar I took.ages to sort and work out what was what. Especially when colours are not full after shipping
Yep, I've had the same experience. That's why we decided to make sure every bag has a clear label. It is especially important when selling livebearers, killies, rainbows, etc. Don't want the customer to accidentally put the wrong female with the wrong male and ruin a strain of fish.
My best tip is to have plenty of hardscape and/or plants in the tanks so there are lots of nooks and crannies for the pea puffers to explore. They enjoy scanning these surfaces for little critters to eat.
@DansFish Thank you so much. I am going to wait till temps get above 30° to get some in from you. I really appreciate the advice and want to set this up the right way!
Love those Eques. Someday, I will have some. It's always nice to see Dean's fishroom. The fish came from your caring facility to Dean's caring fishroom. They will produce just fine for the care they've received.
I knew the packing at Dans was next level, but i dont think i quite realized how high of a bar they are setting for themselves. Great Job! Side note, i hope dean breeds and does a follow up on those whiptails. I find trying to feed the fry are the hardest part, cant seem to get them to survive
It's really difficult, it took me a few batches to get right. When they first hatch, I feed them a powdered fry food (Sera Micron) 3-4 times a day. I do a 20% water change on the tank they're in every other day. These guys both always need food around them and also need clean water. Good luck though! It's super rewarding when you manage to get your first batch :)
I'm sorry to hear the otos were stressed. I'm not sure a larger bag would help that...they are not a fish that moves around a lot. Hopefully they recovered and are doing well for you.
Pure oxygen in a bag with corydoras is not recommended. Because they want to breathe air from the surface and are not able to inhale or asorbe 100% pure oxygen, which can lead to death.
At this point, I tend to ignore any unfounded recommendations. I've read lots of "recommendations" online and heard lots of fish "gospel" over the decades that doesn't jive with my lived experience. Corys, bettas, gouramis...the recommendations have always been to ship without O2. However, I have yet to find a single study that verifies this. Also, we've done A/B tests, and found they did better with O2. After successfully shipping tens of thousands (or maybe more?) of corys, bettas, etc. with O2 and having around a 99% success rate doing so, I'll stick with what works rather than paying attention to the conventional wisdom.
I believe there are a total of 2 ad breaks in this video. If that is too many for you, then I guess that is that. Sometimes, UA-cam automatically places tons of ad breaks. This is especially true of the livestreams. I have to manually go through and delete ad breaks to cut them down from over 30 to 2-3 in a 90 minute livestream. It's annoying, but all in all I think UA-cam is a darned good platform.

@deansfishroom meeting Dan and the team was the highlight of my year! It was great to see you two together.
This is the most elaborate plan to get a private tour of Dean’s magical fish room. Kudos to you Dan! lol!!
@greenwatertheory-rv3te • any chance to get a new look is always appreciated and thankfully they're have been several creators doing Dean's fish room enough
LOL @greenwater...that's hilarious. Its like an "Ocean's 11" operation to get into Dean's fishroom :)
Love Dean's fish room and those Pencils are awesome!
Next level shipping with top quality fish. It is so fun to see how it's done. Thanks Dean and Dan.
Dean's seal of approval is gold!
Dan, I really enjoyed seeing your process of backing and shipping. Of course, the part with Dean was great. Thank you for this video.
I've ordered from you several times here in Illinois and the fish are always super healthy and the boxing top notch. Dean is awesome I first saw him through Cory's channel and then KeepingFishSimple.
Unmatched standards, bravo.
Fantastic to see Dean in action. Haven’t seen him in a while.
Valuable and wise to share content like this - nice work!
I got 2 orders from Dan. Approximately 40 fish total. Am a very satisfied customer.
Really nice to peer into how you do your shipping. As an aspiring breeder I find this content very interesting and valuable
The edit to block Dean's address was a super mindful detail. Nice!
Thank you for never compromising the health of the animals 🙏 ❤️ would love another warehouse tour! ❤ keep it up! ❤❤❤
Absolute BEST shipping in the industry, in my opinion!!!
I think all of us hate shipping costs these days. Although shipping is outrageous, the handling and shipping preparations shown in this video almost justifies the costs. If only more of that went to the shop and less to the postal office. Very impressed
and it's gonna go higher, USPS is rising costs again
@adelinawarriner6259 sure, why not hahaha.
@@stevecox8066 it's additional $15 for live animals or perishables.. gonna effect animals, plants and food.
Yep...shipping is brutal. Got a notice from UPS that they are raising their rates later this month. We're trying to see if there is a way we can absorb that without raising our shipping costs for our customers. Fingers crossed!
Love the knowledge from the OGs of aquatic life..
👍🏻😎 Dan's fish quality and shipping technique is impeccable. Dean is an impeccable breeder.
Amazing to see a couple of my favorite fish nerds together! Thanks for this!

A hearty "You are welcome" to you!
This is incredible. Love that you showed this!
Oh that is so cool that you also use Dean!!!
Super cool video. Amazing process. Thanks for sharing
been ordering from Dan for years. Fish always arrive alive and have lived happily for a long time.
I loved seeing all the new machinery in the warehouse!
Wow... I can't imagine. Speechless over your shipping setup. I'm still a One-Man Operation... start to finish
I know the drill...did it by myself for years. Ain't nothing wrong with that.
I love when we get to find out about another one of Johnny’s breeding projects! Those apistos looked incredible.
Look at all the fancy new equipment! Excellent video!
Yep, Dan sends you happy fish, I had the same experience
That is refreshing to see the time and care that is put into the shipping
Over in Powell, looking forward to doing business with you guys soon!
Awesome peek behind the curtain!
It really is something to see how you've refined your shipping processes. I'm thinking of the video where you were hand crimping the bags. Sometimes I think it might be a bit too involved but hey, the numbers speak for themselves.
We still use the hand crimpers to seal them in the 2nd bag, but that's much easier than doing the 1st and 2nd bag the old way.
Thank you Dan again for
Dean!!! Everyone’s been waiting for the next vid with Dean and here it Is
The shipping process is one to be envious of. I'd love to get to that stage some day, truly good stuff
Don't let the fancy equipment fool you. You can do pretty much the same thing at home. I did it for years in my basement with a simple hand run impulse sealer and a canister of oxygen from a welding supply shop.
What an awesome treat of a video! Thank you for sharing Dan!
Personally had a great experience with my first order from Dan’s and the fish were super healthy.
It’s been awhile since I watched some fishtube videos. Happy to see Dan and Dean together in a video! Really cool video to come back to! Makes me want to go shopping too.😅
Pretty amazing how you have raised the bar. Hopefully others will learn from you.

My order came in Great shape : ) Was pleased and happy with my order : )
Amazing video amigo good job god bless You and we wating for the next video👏🏽👍
Great video really enjoyed this from down under
Congratulations Dan 😊
Good job!
Wonderful.
Was nice getting lunch with you when you came to visit us in Seattle!
Dan's fish costs ridiculously compared to other places. But I know his fish are well-treated, so it's hard to complain about the price. lol
Yep...we be pricey for sure. Hopefully this vids helps explain a bit about why that is.
@ great video! I’ll be ordering a few Hillstream loaches soon
Cool video! Thanks Dan
Amazing!
Woahhh deans shirt is awesome
Dan yr a badass🎉
A foot pad to turn on the water while filling bags would probably increase efficiency and help his back.
That's a great idea. We are actually looking at how to wire that up now....thanks for the suggestion!
Wow! Soooooooo cool!!! Thanks for showing the behind-the-scenes. The neon green tetras I ordered in July are all still doing great. The cardinal tetras from two weeks ago are ‘fat and sassy’. 😂
@2:35 dang...way to stress out the fish....
But the rest of the operations /chef's kiss!
Love the label on the bag, I have ordered fish here in Australia and had no labels and fish that were very similar I took.ages to sort and work out what was what. Especially when colours are not full after shipping

Such an amazing process of shipping. Hoping to get some pea puffers far north. Tips would be helpful!
Absolutely cannot wait to get my order tomorrow!!!
Fancy Sunrise High-fin Platys
Corydoras Eques
Dwarf Chain Loaches
Great video more off those
OMG Dan I have the same exact T-shirt! Apparently we both have very good taste.
Like xmas, what fun.
Really sad I had plans scheduled months prior for the same weekend you were in town - missed ya sir!
Missed you too. But no worries. We'll get you next time, Mr. Pascoe!
i wonder who that poor soul was on the motorbike in the hail storm
HA! I'm glad I'm not the only one who wondered that! 😂
That is one of our team members. When he left for lunch, the weather was fine. Not so much when he returned. That's life in the mountains for ya!
Love those Eques. Someday, I will have some.

Thanks for sharing your experience with these fish, Northern and Ameer!
DEEAAAAN
I have told a lot of people about dans fish and how they ship
We appreciate you spreading the word, VaDirt. Word of mouth is super helpful in this business.
Need those apisto picaras, soo rad
Piaroa*
2:37 “not jostled” as the fish is being swished around and then has a roaring waterfall ground pound him for a couple of seconds 😂
Fair. But using the meshed pipe in the bag like we do, is a lot less jostling than pouring the fish through a net like we used to do. But still, fair.
My otos seemed really stressed in those small bags.
I'm sorry to hear the otos were stressed. I'm not sure a larger bag would help that...they are not a fish that moves around a lot. Hopefully they recovered and are doing well for you.
Juuust like the Peru shipment to Dean...or not
Let's go with "not" :)
If I have to admit to being jealous of anything it would be that faucet that pours clean shipping water
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Arrived
Dean still breeding phillipine blue angels?
I think he's mostly breeding the Red Koi Angels. I can't remember if he had blues or not.
You could tell he has never bought from you before! Did you make an agreement that he would sell you fry back?
I can't wait to buy some of these back from Dean! If anyone can breed them, he can.
Master Breeder, or Master Fish Breeder? Words are important. I hope Deans wife is okay.
What did that label say? Bull Shark? Be careful with that one!
Dan's Fish is awesome. I won't buy fish anywhere else.

Thank you for the dozen ads. Won’t ever watch again.
You must be new to UA-cam.
Unfortunately creators don't have total control of the ads. You can blame UA-cam, not Dan.
you won't watch much on UA-cam then... the creator has zero control over the ads
