If you are looking for a inspirational project to help you creating a cool Cafe Racer motorcycle, then this video is perfect for you.
This video is about a custom Honda CB 550 four, and it is probably one of the coolest projects I've seen in a long time.
It was built in Germany, by Sebastian Happ, who is also known as Basti.
Although it is not exactly the work of a professional builder, personally, I think quality of this project, is even above the usual from most professional builders.

This One is the video I keep going back to since last year. Its incredible and the sound of the 550 is more robust than I expected.

What is really beautiful on this bike is that the tip of the back end of the seat is just above the centre axel-point of the rear wheel , the exhaust also points at this axel-point and ends just before the rear wheel axel hub begins . The triangle's remind me of the attractiveness of the angles of the pyramids . This bike's got really clean lines . Circle (front wheel) - triangle (headlight) - paralellogram (tank) - inverted triangle (seat) - circle (aft wheel) , and all in scale . Nice .
Now this is a bike true to the spirit of a cafe racer; stripped down to the bare bones, distilled to the essentials and thus elegant in its simplicity. Such clean lines. Well done. Makes me wonder why I ride a busy looking R9T.

Oh, this takes me back to '74, when I had my '73 CB 500. I punched it out to 600cc big bore kit and cammed it, with a Hooker header to top it off,and it sounded just like this! I did some custom paint, but this, this is what I was dreaming about! Awesome build!

I learnt to ride on a Honda CB 550 four , the 1st bike i ever rode,it was my friends bike, that bike made me a cafe racer fan and i cannot wait to own one and build it to my spec, i love that bike so much, i hope to get one soon and would like to see the bike i build feature on this channel, thank you so much for all the advise, i have learnt a lot and will use it when i build mine...

É o som de um motor novo.
Carburação PERFEITAMENTE REGULADA.
O som do escapamento combina com o restante... Está ÓTIMO...
A mecânica está PERFEITA. Tem muita moto nova que não tem esse som de funcionamento tão perfeito.
Os motores antigos da Honda, sendo reconstruídos com as folgas corretas, tem os melhores sons de funcionamento que você pode escutar... Lembrando que tem que ter a carburação também perfeita...
Enfim... Ficou MAGNÍFICA essa moto... Parabéns ao construtor!

Bravo Sebastian! Once again Racer TV shows us that even a novice bike builder can preform a masterpiece with enough will power. This bike hi-lights everything a Cafe-Racer should employ, less is always more beautiful. I do wounder if Sebastian gets a lot of flack from his BMW co-workers....LOL Another very inspiring video from Racer TV!

Simplicity over hype. Carburetors over fuel injection. Pure lines over geometric distortions. 1975 over 2020. Fresh air instead of fear of breathing freely. Honda over BMW. The past is the present seems to scream the bike. I like that idea. Gracias for the great sound and design. So cool.

@@RACER_TV we can always do better but your "minimum" standards excel over other people's "best efforts". to see the road from the perspective of the rider with the sound reminds me of my R75/5 that I rode around Europe in 1971. 50 years ago next June. Wonderful view and sounds...Obrigado e muito respeito.

Quite often, the "less is more" line of thinking has a profound effect. Flashy, over the top is not always better. Trying to determine what makes something "cool" to someone else, depends on what you are talking about, and who you are talking to. This machine has so much " cool" factors, simply because it is simple and uncluttered. For me, it is an legant pure machine...

After 30 years on Cafe racers (mostly old Brits) my body won't take clip ons any more, so last month I regretfully sold my Continental GT and defected to normal handlebars and got a Ducati Monster.. Only ridden it once as we're now in lockdown. Can't wait for next summer! Keep up the good work Cheers 👍🏻👍🏻

Love the aggressive look and sound of the inline 4 cylinder. Bike is simple, elegant,... not gaudy. Uber cool.

This is the bike that started my interests in motorcycles and it’s still the most perfect beautiful custom bike I’ve ever laid eyes on.
Omg this is the most beautiful thing i ever see.
Engraçado como a 5 anos atrás, quando comecei a acompanhar este canal, eu jamais iria olhar para uma moto como essa com o mesmo fascínio que olho hoje. Antes, uma custom só me despertava algo, quando era hiper incrementada, com inúmeros cavalos e design extremamente rebuscado ou agressivo. Sempre me vem em mente essa observação, toda vez que vejo uma cafe racer purista como essa.
Para minha surpresa, me pego hoje ansioso por ver uma moto em que não houve uma massiva fabricação de peças, principalmente aquelas peças mirabolantes, que nos faz respeitar o construtor, que tornam a moto absolutamente exclusiva, mas que apenas olhamos como um observador distante, um sonho, não uma moto real.
Acredito que talvez seja até necessário, de tempos em tempos, motos hiper impressionantes para apresentar no canal, tentar abraçar todos os gostos e tribos e tal, mas digo que sou capaz de assistir varias vezes, e com grande prazer, motos como essa desse vídeo.
E apenas para não passar batido uma observação sobre a Honda do vídeo, só a combinação de cromados com essa pintura já foi meio caminho andado para esse resultado espetacular. Adorei.

I had the 400 cc version of this. When not used it slept in the living room. The simplicity was unparalleled. Unfortunately, now it is a thing of the past. Today you have multiple electric aids/computers that you hope the wrench knows how to diagnose should a problem occur.
Would love to see Honda make another 400/550 cc four with it just being a good basic cafe racer. Good brakes (ABS optional, thank you), fuel management system, and just a basic simple fairing.

Understated, yet sexy use of the available lines of the original, while showing just the right amount of chrome, and then there's that
in-line four growl !

Not usually a feature of the
in-line four, but I think he may have found it !
Nice touches of CNC work on the rear shifter, pegs, and triple tree as well !
