Neil's snare syncopation when he comes in on the middle 6/8, 7/8 section is the type of thing that made him a legend. Mike Portnoy took that kind of idea of playing extremely syncopated notes across odd times and ran with it. Maybe a little too much. lol Neil is still the king of odd time transitions, making them flow/transition seamlessly. Rush's transitions are flawless and much of that is because of Peart.

One of the most underrated Rush songs. The live version vid is amazing. Alex's riffs are classic and memorable

That middle section where Neil comes back in is one of the reasons he was on such a stratospheric level. A masterful example of 4 way independence and somehow it was done in such a way that the listener was/is never lost.

Love everything about this track. Alex is a Monster. Neil so creative and of course Geddy ripping it up on bass and bringing that atmospheric synth.

Neil just comes in, Alex comes in, Geddy on base. Priceless!

Not complex until breakdown the time signature transitions and Neil’s snare and high hat work is impeccable. He does more in the background than drummers showcase in an entire tune.

Not to mention that ride cymbal work. Love it

The story of Jacob’s Ladder refers to the vivid, prophetic dream in which Jacob sees a ladder stretching from heaven to earth.

One of my favourite Rush songs of all time such a great song, so atmospheric and the lyrics could be a poem by Wordsworth.

Great song. Rock Symphony. Plus, in concert it was epic AF.

The ending instrumental is magnificent. With each measure, subtle additions from the bass, synths, and drums make the music better and better.

Awesome live version of this song on their last R40 tour in 2015. 3 over talented guys in their early 60's absolutely smashing it. A must watch!

Saw them do this on the Permanent Waves tour, amazing! Met the guys by their bus after the show and they autographed our programs. Next time I saw them do it was the R40 tour in Greensboro NC. Took both my kids to that show (now adults, lol).

Love Jacob’s Ladder. I remember liking it right away when my brother brought that album home. Such unique arrangement; parts can seem repetitive at first but in typical Rush fashion they subtly mix it up. Cool synth, neat lyrics and great vocals by Geddy, and of course Lifeson and Peart doing their thing.

Still my favorite guitarist after nearly 50 years. This would have killed as a part of Lord of The Rings musical score.

Complexity but not for complexity's sake - one of the many things I absolutely love about Rush. It all just feels so natural and right. Each song is basically the way it is because that's what it needs to be. No other band I know that can make the music feel like Rush - so glad I got to see them live!! Still loving the journey Tim - much more excellence still to come!! 😎👍

I simply LOVE the rhythm pattern in the mid section. Have two things for ya. Search "Alex Lifeson being goofy" here- very funny short behind the scenes clip. 2. Did you ever listen to Babymetal "Tales of the Destinies"? (maybe a MUST for Dream Theater fans).

The solo here is unmistakably Alex - raunchy, a bit out of tune, but soulful and precise. Another great one! And let's have a cheer for 13/8!

I had then (and still have today) a kind of Love/Hate relationship with this album. There is nothing on it that I dislike, per say, but it is my least favourite album up to this point.

I LOVE this song. I would say its my favorite song on the album except Natural Science exists. Entre Nous and Different Strings also hold a special place in my heart.
Specifically Alex guitar tone and squeals in this song really get me.
