Location
1. En Gedi is located on the west side of the lower Dead Sea area about 11 miles (17 km.) north of Masada on Hwy. 90.
2. It’s a beautiful oasis fed by a large spring in a barren, dry place.
Historical Background
1. En Gedi was inhabited by the Canaanites during the time of Abraham and Lot.
2. The Dead Sea basin was once like a Garden of the Lord.
Genesis 13:10-12: Lot lifted up his eyes and saw all the valley of the Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere-this was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah-like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt as you go to Zoar. 11 So Lot chose for himself all the valley of the Jordan, and Lot journeyed eastward. Thus they separated from each other. 12 Abram settled in the land of Canaan, while Lot settled in the cities of the valley, and moved his tents as far as Sodom.
3. Due to the abundant water supply, the village by En Gedi Park has had a long history of habitation from ancient days to the present.
4. Today, this area is extremely dry, and En Gedi is an oasis of living water in the desert.

En Gedi in the Bible
1. En Gedi was used in a love poem in the book of Song of Solomon.
Song of Solomon 1:14: My beloved is to me a cluster of henna blossoms in the vineyards of En Gedi.
2. In the Millennial Reign of Christ on earth, God speaks of how He will change the Dead Sea region once again to be like a garden due to a supernatural river that will flow from Jerusalem.
Ezekiel 47:9-10: And wherever the river goes, every living creature that swarms will live, and there will be very many fish. For this water goes there, that the waters of the sea may become fresh; so everything will live where the river goes. 10 Fishermen will stand beside the sea. From En Gedi to Eneglaim it will be a place for the spreading of nets. Its fish will be of very many kinds, like the fish of the Great Sea.
3. En Gedi was one of David’s main hideouts when Saul was pursuing his life.
1 Samuel 23:28-29: So Saul returned from pursuing after David and went against the Philistines. Therefore, that place was called the Rock of Escape. 29 And David went up from there and lived in the strongholds of En Gedi.
4. En Gedi is a perfect example of living water in the desert.
The Israelites were a desert people whose whole history was related to the desert. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, along with the Israelite’s time in Egypt, and their wandering in the desert for 40 years, all took place in a desert. Also, much of Israel is a desert as well.
The Israelites fully knew that living water meant life and survival.
5. God used the desert and living water as examples of judgment upon Israel.
Jeremiah 2:12-13: Be appalled, O heavens, at this; be shocked, be utterly desolate, declares the LORD, 13 for my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns that can hold no water.
6. God used desert imagery to show how those who abandon Him are like a parched desert without water.
Jeremiah 17:5-8: Thus says the LORD: "Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the LORD. 6 He is like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see any good come. He shall dwell in the parched places of the wilderness, in an uninhabited salt land.
7. Christ referred to Himself as the source of living water.
John 7:37-38: On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, 'Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water."
Faith Lesson from En Gedi
1. Living water in the Bible refers to spiritual life and vitality found only in being right with God.
2. Stagnant water is full of sickness and diseases and refers to the person who lives life without being right with God.
3. Have we received Christ, the source of living water?
4. Do we fellowship regularly with God in order to receive living water for our souls?
5. Do we read God’s Word which gives living water to our spirits and nourishes our hearts?
6. Are we seeking to find life and joy in our own pursuits and neglecting our relationship with God?

Saturday night I went to my adoptive parents house they live in the mountains I was leaving their house around 8pm not sure what time exactly my husband was driving I saw the moon and the clouds and how beautiful it looked I can’t explain it and right there I was amazed by God’s creation and how wonderful and beautiful He is i said to my husband that is His canvas. Now that I am thinking about it that’s like a reminder to us today Hey! I am GOD! I am here!

I was given a vision from the Lord As in Acts 2;17,18, Joel 2,28,29 of a huge huge Jupiter almost on top of the earth, with many moons around it, the earth had a square in it with many light in it, I believe it was the New Jerusalem Ezek, 40-48 Shepherds Chapel, the sanctuary isin a square, new earth and New heaven. ♥️♥️THankyou YHVH,

Thanks for sharing. Yes, there was a cave where David hid out. There are numerous caves in the area, but with time and erosion, we're not exactly sure which one it is.
The future King David sought refuge from King Saul in the Cave of Adullam, situated about 13 miles west of Bethlehem.

Hi Pastor Todd I WISH I had hired a car myself in Jerusalem last year , but I didnt because tbo the traffic in Jerusalem , well it looked pretty daunting , although I'll drive abroad pretty much anywhere ... maybe If we ever get to come again it may be better to hire a vehicle outside of Jerusalem City itself and stay in Jerusalem somewhere hmmm but I dont knowhow that would work , because you need the car parked by where your staying ....if we ever get there again ,would love to drive rather than hire taxis , but we thank the Good Lord that he gave us access to taxis :)
When we go to Israel without a group, we rent a vehicle and see everything we want to outside of Jerusalem. Then, when in Jerusalem, we turn in our rental vehicle and walk, take the lightrail, rent a taxi, or take a bus.
@@HolyLandSite That does sound a far more functional plan , we just landed there with one wheelchair , because fair do's mum was 91 last time she was there , I need perhaps to get here a hover board ! hehe :) You look all well organised , if we where fitter we, would join your tours :))

Lol. Jordan means descender (flow down) but where were the water's going down to? Towards the plains of the sea, even the salt sea. The children of Israel crossed over the Salt Sea and NOT the Jordan River. It Never Once says that they crossed over the Jordan

[16]That the waters which came down(JORDAN) from above stood and rose up upon an heap very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zaretan: and those that came down(JORDAN) toward the sea of the "plain", even the "salt sea", failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho(Masada today).
Masada is the real Jericho. There isn't a city in Scripture named Masada.
It is a great job narrating the history of Israel. However, i just want to comment on the name of God our savior used here. If we dig up deeper and look for historical background where's this Letter J came grim. Since the beginning of Hebrew words there was no letter J in their Alphabet unti now. Up to the present time there was no letter J. Letter J was introduced in English Alphabet only last 17th Century or 1700 years after Death of our Savior in the calvary. We all know that He is the first raised from the dead. ascended into heaven and He was coming back again soon. So, since He was born and raised as one of the Tribes called Yehuda. How then they will they named Him that starts with Letter J. It cannot be. Now, the question is "What is His Original Hebrew Name?". Do you know what is the Original Hebrew name of our Messiah? It is no other than YESHUA this name means Salvation. He is going to save His people and those who will acknowledge Him all over the world. Apostle Paul said "The wild olive tree referring to gentiles should be grafted-in with the main olive tree referring to Israel". There's a believer of our Savior Messiah Yeshua out there. Majority are not yet. But in the book of Romans 11:26 says "All Israel will be saved". So, we need to join with the people of Israel. If you want more information please join us every shabbat. In February of 1988 I had the opportunity to visit the Holy Land. I was in the U.S. Navy and at the time was on a 6 month deployment in the Mediterranean Sea. Our aircraft carrier departed from Norfolk Virginia. I had just turned 20. Originally I was scheduled to embark on an all day tour of Jerusalem. That was cancelled at the last moment due to some PLO threats being made because of our presence; we were anchored off the shore of Haifa. In lieu of that I was able to schedule another tour. That one was to the Dead Sea and Masada. I thoroughly enjoyed the lengthy bus trip; especially when going through Tel Aviv. When I was at the top of Masada I sat alone in an area that was overlooking the Dead Sea and Jordan. Although we were told of the Biblical historic details of this area my brain wasn't registering just how significant they were. I hadn't even heard of the Dead Sea Scrolls and just how close I was to the location where they were discovered. Before our trip to Israel we had spent a few days in Egypt. We anchored off the shore of Alexandria. I went on scheduled tour to Cairo and had the opportunity to see the Pyramids and the Sphinx. Coincidentally just the other day I was looking at some of the many pictures that I took from these places. One of them was of me on a camel. In the background were the 3 main Pyramids. With all of the technology we have today I decided to access Google Earth and plot out the places I had been to from an aerial perspective. The photo of me on the camel was taken from a position that faced Israel; my back was to it. As a bird would fly I saw that Bethlehem was just 260 miles away. Thanks to your wonderful videos all of us can get an idea of what that entire area looked like 2,000 years ago. Pretty much the same with the exception of man's industrial footprints and many feet of sand erosion deposits. The Sphinx looks a whole lot different today than when I saw it just 33 years ago. A lot of digging out!

I visited Ein Gedi in 1975 when I was 13. i was blessed because the Swedish Girls Choir showed up and since there were no changing rooms these 50 teenage blonde haired blue eyed beauties just started undressing right there. Half of them didn't even bother to put their swimsuits on. And the curtains matched the drapes. My prayers had been answered. To think, some people believe there is no God. Amen!
