    Ethics for Engineers and Land Surveyors are very important (and frequently not understood by the public). It would be cool if you did a video about the ethical considerations, such as why bidding isn't allowed (not bidding for construction, but services), and why PE's & PLS's aren't allowed to be majority owners in a project (plus many more). Just found the channel, as as a civil designer, I love the clear and concise explanations given.

    hey in this video you said that you feel like you've gone home and made the world a tiny bit better of a place. Well I hate to break it to you but you start making the world a better place the second you start making these videos. for someone like me coming from a completely different background of study, your videos inspire me to create entertaining and educational videos myself. Just wanted to let you know that you're reaching beyond the realm of Engineers with your videos and into the realm of people who feel that education is the best form of entertainment. Thanks again man keep it up

    I'd be really interested in a Wood Lathe use demonstration. I use metal lathes and mills on a daily basis but am still dwarfed over a wood lathe. I feel a small demonstration on the engineering of a lathe as well as your techniques would not only be an interesting look into construction, machining, fabrication and gears (depending on how you wanted to spin the episode) as well as giving all of us a much better appreciation and understanding for your lathe time lapses! =D

    Instead of a space elevator could we make a tube, pressurize it, and open the gate in outer space to send up stuff up? Like the pneumatic systems in banks and grocery stores?

    • @PracticalEngineeringChannel
      @PracticalEngineeringChannel  8 років тому +1

      Unlike the tether (a tensile structure), the tube would need to be stable as a compression structure. Probably not feasible with current materials.

    • @epjones366
      @epjones366 8 років тому

      +Practical Engineering bummer. Thanks for the reply. Would graphene material make it possible. I was watching a Ted talk on bio materials and how we could make viruses grow batteries. Could viruses grow graphene and we could grow the structure?

    • @epjones366
      @epjones366 8 років тому

      The TedTalk was on directed evolution. Angela Belcher: Using nature to grow batteries. Once programmed to make graphene could a space straw be more efficient than lasers pushing an elevator up a line?

    I'm wanting to get into aerospace engineering, but in aerospace, every single different component to a rocket has it's own team, and you have to choose one pretty early in you career path. it's like if every different part of a dam had its own team dedicated to it. how would you recommend choosing a field of aerospace to enter?

    • @PracticalEngineeringChannel
      @PracticalEngineeringChannel  8 років тому

      Tough question. Seems like a lot of life is like that though - you have to make a decision without having the relevant experience to choose properly. Sometimes you just have to do your best and find a way to make the best out of what you chose.

    Hey i have recently discovered yur channel and your videos are very inspiring. To the point where i am considering taking Geotechical Engineering as a career pathway instead of what i initially wanted to do which is chemical enginering. I was just wondering what would be good choices to take at A-Level for someone wanting to do this?

    • @PracticalEngineeringChannel
      @PracticalEngineeringChannel  8 років тому +1

      That's awesome. Thanks! I'm not too familiar with education outside the US, but I'm assuming A-levels are somewhat similar to AP high school classes. In that case, I would say to take as much math and physics as possible. Geology if it's an option.

    • @UpdateNinja
      @UpdateNinja 8 років тому

      Ok thanks. Yes A-Levels are around the same as AP's. We dont have geology but i love maths and physics so ill probably take them and chemistry as well. Thanks for the quick reply i really appreciate you responding. Have a good day! (or night, im not entirely sure what time zone your in :P).

    you need to watch the engineer guy youtube channel.
    he's an older guy that shows how various things work in interesting ways. he doesnt put out a lot of work but every video is worth watching.
    also you never mentioned the nottingham university science channels by Brady Haran, which is an absolute must as well. Sixty Symbols, Periodic Videos, Deep Sky, Numberphile, Computerphile. there are a few more but those need to be added to your list too.
    for general scientific concepts there is VSauce. vsauce 2 and 3 are more niche but Michael Simon from Vsauce is probably the best science entertainer on youtube other theeeeen
    scishow.
    how isnt scishow on the list? scishow space, crash course
    minute earth and minute physics as well.
    maybe i misheard the question and you were trying to shout out less known youtube channels, but if you havent heard of any of these, get watching. they're the cream of the crop that you're sitting in (you are certainly rising cream yourself)
