"The first time I ever really listened to Kyle Kulinski’s show was in the back of a cab last summer. The driver had his phone hooked up through the stereo and was pumping out an episode through the car speakers - loudly, as if looking to convert a captive audience.
“Do you like Kyle Kulinski?”
The driver, Ahmed, was a recent immigrant and apparently a die-hard fan of Secular Talk, the political talk show that Kulinski broadcasts on UA-cam. I told him, yes, in fact. I do like Kulinski, had come across his show several years ago, and, all things considered, he seemed pretty good.
“He understands what we’re up against,” Ahmed said. “Like Bernie.”
But I was surprised to hear Kulinski’s name mentioned in the same breath as Bernie Sanders, particularly with such adoration. Because what I did remember about Kulinski’s show struck me as mostly capital-P “progressive” takes on the news - the left wing of the Netroots crowd more than the democratic socialism Sanders has popularized.
It’s an impression that wasn’t entirely incorrect.
“I have no time for philosophical, airy bullshit,” Kulinski tells me from his home in Westchester, New York. “I don’t want to hear about Lenin. I don’t want to hear about Marx. I just want a super plainspoken, straightforward agenda with a straightforward way of selling it.”
With over 800,000 subscribers and nearly 670 million total views on UA-cam, selling a progressive agenda is clearly something Kulinski knows how to do - even Democracy Now, the long-standing flagship of progressive media, cannot match his reach on the platform. Chapo Trap House can certainly boast a wildly devoted fan base (and a not insignificant degree of media influence), but their audience is roughly half the size of Kulinski’s.
While Secular Talk might be more likely to be looped in with the progressive networks around Air America and Pacifica alums like Sam Seder than the more resolutely socialist world, Kulinski’s fiery rhetoric, razor-sharp class instincts, and knack for withering takedowns sets him apart from his peers. Judging by his rhetoric alone, he’s closer to a Eugene Debs than a Chris Hayes.
But unlike Hayes, Amy Goodman, or his friend Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks - who began airing Secular Talk on his web network seven years ago - the thirty-two-year-old Kulinski is virtually invisible in the mainstream media. Despite his enormous fan base, his show has never once been mentioned in the obligatory trend pieces on “the Millennial Left” pumped out by the prestige media. Nor has Kulinski’s name ever popped up at all in the New York Times, Vox, the New Yorker, New York Magazine, or the Washington Post, despite his leading role in cofounding Justice Democrats, the organization widely credited with sweeping Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the rest of “the Squad” to power.
Just last week, his Wikipedia page was deleted. The reason? “There is very simply no [reliable source] coverage of this person,” according to one moderator. In new media, he’s king - the Sean Hannity of the Berniecrat left. In old media, he’s nobody.
I suspect there are a few reasons for that. There is nothing “cool” about Kulinski’s show. (As a friend put it, “‘Welcome to Secular Talk’ sounds like something you’d hear on Egyptian radio.”) His no-nonsense social-democratic politics won’t get him much cred with the Full Communism crowd. He records his show not in Brooklyn or Los Angeles, but in a studio he built himself in his modest Westchester home. His hair is too groomed and his taste in clothes too preppy to qualify as “Dirtbag Left.” Nor has he ever attended an n+1 release party. “Not only have I not attended one,” he says, “I have no idea what that means.”
And yet he’s astonishingly plugged-in for a young man in the suburbs. Wondering how Sanders ended up on the Joe Rogan Experience? Kulinski, a frequent guest on Rogan’s wildly popular show, introduced them. “You make the most sense to me,” Rogan told Kulinski on a recent episode. “You’re a normal person.”
Much like Sanders himself, Kulinski’s show has a massive audience that just doesn’t compute with our media’s understanding of “what the kids want” or even “what the left-wing kids want.”
It’s probably for the best - the very woke and very WASP-ish decorum haunting much of the media world is nowhere to be found in Secular Talk. “Corporate Democrats over-focus on identity as a trick to divert you from the issues that unite us all - class issues,” he said on a recent episode.

The most generous assessment of Joe Rogan is that he's a complete moron. A less generous but more accurate assessment is that he figured out 100 million was more important to him than the lives of all the people who followed his idiotic COVID disinformation and believed it, and died as a direct result of being stupid enough to believe Joe Rogan.
You have to work hard to get worn out as president. Mr Orange didn't show up in the oval until at noon least, and spent more time golfing. He wasn't president. He was a squatter in the White House who wasn't qualified to be there.
Yeah, but he´s been doing that for years, even before he became POTUS. If someone visibly ages, not even the best make-up in the world can cover it up. There is a reason why Trump didn´t age as much. He didn´t WORK as much as the other guys. He reportedly watched TV until 10 a.m. or even later before starting any work at all, and had spent more time at the golf resorts than any other president in modern history.
Add to that that he didn't do any work. Presidents who appear to have aged took the job seriously and were under tremendous stress. The orange turd didn't take it seriously AT ALL.

Joe Rogan is just a moron. He thinks if Trump believes he won the election, then everything Trump did after that (including an armed takeover of the Capitol Building) is justified. And Rogan definitely hasn't been paying attention to any of the court cases, because every district that Republicans said were "suspicious" were thrown out of court for having no evidence. The Republican voters just "felt" like Trump won, and if Trump "felt" like he won, that is good enough for Rogan. If Rogan thought about it for half a second, he would realize that he can't really be in favor of democracy if he is okay wit a loud armed minority trying to take over the government, the same way dictators like Hitler came into power. But Rogan has a bunch of friends who are Republicans, and they seem like pretty smart/good guys to him, so he can't reconcile that with the fact that the majority of Republicans still support Trump.

That's a big difference between Bill and many other guests. Many others are just sycophants and looking for a rise in the exposure when on Rogan. So when Joe says something, they are like "Yeah, wow. that's so cool. I never thought of that". Etc.
That's most because Maher is close to as successful as Rogan is. Maher's built his success over multiple decades while Rogan got hell lucky.

The fact that we have a minimum age requirement for presidential candidates (which is too high by the way) but we don't have a maximum age limit, is INSANE. Why are we letting senior citizens have so much control over political outcomes that they won't even live long enough to feel the consequences of???
Having a minimum age requirement makes sense due to finishing brain development and getting some experience, however, the ‘elderly’ sometimes are still mentally sharp, however that is most often not the case. Some even lose serious cognitive function earlier. I think that it would be best to have a cognitive function test for not only the old running for office, but all running for office. It would just be hard to find a test many don’t take great problems with when one’s candidate doesn’t pass.

Federal courts only go to trial 2% of the time but convict 99.6% of the time. Go try and find someone exonerated from a federal trial. You won’t find that 0.4%

Glitch out? Literally the only thing he hesitated about what listing the specific charges against Trump. He’s a layman, not an attorney. Other than that he was completely coherent and pretty much eviscerated Joe.
I love people who think a stutter or any kind of verbal idiosyncrasy indicates dishonesty or cluelessness. There aren’t very many people who are able to speak perfectly clearly and never pause, have their voice crack, or something like that.

Rogan is incredibly influenceable. It takes one person to expose him to arguments that he doesn't normally want to hear, for him to change his mind. But eventually it's very short lived, no matter what he thinks one day, his natural tendency is always to rally with the more authoritarian, the person that he sees as "stronger". If there's a vote between Trump and Biden, Rogan will vote for Trump 100%.

Kyle points out good things Biden has done but doesn't say what followed up. Pulling out of Afghanistan just allowed more money for the defense budget and Ukraine. The corp tax rate again goes to the defense budget and Ukraine.

Please bring the crime bill back, crime was low and people wasn't afraid to leave out their house. Bill Mahr’s most believable qualities (besides being full of common sense) is how laser quick he is in rebuttals. He’s a lot like Candace Owens (far right black Trumper) but with much more empathy for many more groups of people than Ms Owens.
I feel like one of the last people to finally give up on Rogan... it isn't just that he's turned "rightward," it's that he's so closed off to wider considerations, the thing that made him big. There's a few possibilities. One, he's always been a closet conservative. Two, the lock downs and his move to Texas completely changed him. I don't know, to be honest, but it caught a lot of people off guard. I listened to him since 2014, but his constant obsession with bashing liberals and completely ignoring conservatives made it unwatchable to me.

Kyle is a sharp commentator, usually right on, but it seems he misunderstood Maher's take
concerning Biden and "wokeness". When I listened carefully to Maher it
was clear that he was pointing out that out of a desire to maintain party unity Biden did not
want to challenge any on the extreme left by questioning their "wokeness". This is different from
Biden being a dyed in the wool woke guy.
For me, it comes down to the biggest thing: RUNNING MATE!!! Kamala needs to go. She's not the one that's gonna help us out if grandpa kicks the can over the next four years.

My consensus is this… if what trump did isn’t enough to get him arrested or banned from running for office then what exactly does it take for that to happen? How severe of a liar, narcissist, scumbag do you have to be in order to actually be accountable for your actions? None of it makes sense to me.
