Mr Maximus, You mentioned that these Makita routers are used all around the world. Is it true that in Australia and across the Southern Hemisphere they route in the opposite direction? 🤔
I just inherited one will use it for machining aluminium doors for locks, maybe some flyscreen mesh over the top of the motor will stop fillings from getting in, thoughts?
Have you had a look at the 3612 BR, it looks like junk compared to the 3612c, it has the locking lever on the same side as the depth adjustment so you can't lock the other side so even when locked you can still push the other side down. I thought it was only on the fakes but I see even the original is the same.
Yes they are crap and the biggest problem is that the height locking lever is on the same side as the height adjustment bolt so there is nothing the lock the other side from moving up and down and that is the side that sits on the job so it is useless to keep the depth set right. You have to modify them by drilling and tapping another locking bolt into the other side, I used the bolt off my Makita trimmer that is used to adjust the roller guide, I think it was a 6mm thread and now it works perfect.
Nothing quite messier than a router, shite flying all over the room sometimes. I have the Makita trim and an older 1 1/2 HP Craftsman big boy. Both are great. Thanks for the video
The used bit was worth $10. Not probable but not impossible that this was just one of this guys routers. Could have even had another 3612. Some of us have a problem and own more than a couple routers.

Great information thank you I bought a Craftsman plunge router over 40 years ago and never had an opportunity to use it.
We have tons of garage sales each weekend. Always the same stuff. Baby clothes, plastic kitchen utensils, and broken Ikea furniture.

Great find!

Any suggestions on where to get an external variable drive or where to get the parts to make this a variable speed?
Harbor freight has a router speed controller.
