(35:45) There is absolutely something about the "E-5" energy. Some have it without military experience, often learned via sports or Scouting. That energy shouts, "We can do this. Let's do this. Do this NOW." The A players at a company will follow that energy. B and C players, not so much. I first learned this by watching when a Marine E-6 joined a D1 football team near where Mike grew up. That experience was life changing for me, and I have never stopped watching how people react to leaders. Greatly helped me to be more than just an engineer.
I love how every chance he gets, Mike talks about how great of a man Johnny is lol. Really says allot about how much respect Mike has for him
I’m currently on a tactical team that has major voids in leadership in reference to the attributes Mike talks about. I can only imagine the progress we’d make if we all were exposed to someone like him. So worthy of emulation. I will be buying his book asap. Thank you for such a great interview exposure!
What a great story! Truly enjoyed it!
Man you get the most interesting guests on your show & the interview style & questions you ask are second to none. Really appreciate the quality, time you put into it & how entertaining , educational and helpful it is for both the guest, you and listener!
@@CombatStory it's really great to hear & learn our countries military history from the people who were involved in & made it! You've also created a great outlet & place for the men & women that served our country to tell their stories! Keep up the great work, it's really appreciated. Look forward to more content/interviews, you do an excellent job!
It takes someone with experience to ask the right questions.. great channel!
Great interview, the energy is palpable from Mike, a great man doing great things and who knows how to bring out the best in people round him, I would follow him though the gates of hell, a leader who leads from the front!
Excellent interview.
Your Guest list just gets better and better keep them coming Ryan fantastic show 👍🇬🇧
What a great Guy he is, full inspiring and motivational. A true Leader. Loved that Interview, Ryan - you did a great Job on that one - as always. Keep it going Sir!
What a nice surprise to wake up too! Always learn valuable life lessons everytime i watch a video of Mike speaking. Wish him the best and keep doing your thing Ryan! Best podcast out by a stretch!
Thank you, shared.
Really good. Liked AAR info. Mike's intensity is contagious. No pointing fingers and casting blame.
Hopefully we can get video in all future Combat Stories. Thank you for your all you do, Ryan.
Awesome interview 🤙
You have a way of pulling the best out of your guest in how they take you into their lives and you're going through it with them it's the best.
I guess is safe to say, that your most anticipated guest is Johnny and his story, cause the way he talks about him makes us want to hear from him. How he is in the work in the near future.
“Boldness is a byproduct of preparedness.” That is a quote that I’ll take with me for the rest of my life. Books in which cover the art and science of warfare (such as MCDP 1 Warfighting) mention boldness as a necessary trait of our leaders for exploiting fleeting opportunities in the battle space. But mr. Sarraille has added fundamental depth to why leaders must be bold. Thank you for this.
Another great guest and interview, ty
I believe ive heard Johnny Kim say that Nic Checque was also in his boatcrew and when Johnny had a moment where he felt like he was holding his boat crew behind cause he couldnt keep up, Nic reminded him to stop doubting himself and to know that he did belong there. But a boat crew where 2 of them went on to be in Devgru, (Nic passed away in Gold squadron and Mike was in Gold), and Johnny went on to get his phd at harvard and enroute to being an astronaut is amazing!! Legendary boat crew lol
More specifically what Nic Cheque told him was "Hey MAN, YOU BELONG HERE!"
Just found this podcast and I am so glad I did!
SOLID INTERVIEW!! MIKE's AMAZING. NIGHT LAB APPROVED!!
Great show!
The dude he’s interviewing kinda looks like that one guy😂
Great podcast! Did they not talk about his time Devgru? I cut this episode in 3 parts while multi-tasking.
3:42 sick jockos group of friends 🫶
🔥
I hope you are making millions off UA-cam there are way to many ads.
Yeah Jonny Kim is a legend in his own time. This was a great podcast. Very exciting
Re upload?
Lockheed Martin and Boeing and Raytheon should have Mike help them develop USEFUL leadership program. Cookie cutter Leadership Development Programs in the corporate world SUCK!
Talent War Group would love to work with both those companies on Leadership Development.
Johnny Sinns never talked about his life in the adult industry? Weird
Is this a re upload?
Looks like he re uploaded without the video from the zoom call. Just the headshots now. Like it better with the actual video of them speaking.
Yeah it is. I started watching it 19 minutes after it was uploaded, and it was the zoom call. Now it’s just the audio for some reason. I wonder why…..🤔
💯👍🇺🇲
Why did he scrupulously avoid mentioning Jocko Willink's name as his Task Unit commander, and as the head of Echelon Front?
No ill intent there. I served alongside Jocko on one of my 10 combat deployments. I went on to serve at a much higher level, where I served under the very best leaders in Naval Special Warfare (part of the top 2%).
Officer.
GAWD DAMN!! I hope you are getting “mad cash”, for all these adverts!! 45 minutes in, and I’ve seen more than 12. Make sure they are paying you, what you’re worth!!
With the advent of Marsoc, I wonder if Mike would have stayed to be a Raider? The Marine Corps has a level of bullshit that kind of wears on you. Don't get me wrong, I loved my time in but from what I hear, the seals seem to be a little more insulated from the day to day military bullshit.
Your assessment is pretty spot on. MARSOC is great. They are going to be a force to be reckoned with in SOCOM. But as you said, SEALs are insulated as where MARSOC is not. MARSOC will be treated like the redheaded step child of the Marine Corps - a lot of haters who don't like the concept of an elite Marine, which flies in the face of 'Every Marine is a Rifleman.'
Devgru ???
The commercials are not advantageous to the stories.
Shame
Relax on the 1 min adds
I'm guessing this is an audio only version and that the video one was taken down because the guy couldn't stop spitting into a bottle, which was pretty grim. As if he couldn't go an hour without his chew
Really? Please consider the guest’s contribution in a 20 year commitment to ride for the brand. Please post your career highlights.
@@bartgallant6897 That makes it ok to have a habit that most people see as nasty. But, if you do not have a contribution of a 20 year commitment, you do not get to display a nasty habit. Interesting.
Who cares don’t be such a little girl even living is bad for you so that’s pretty grim also.
Talk about a Warrior. He has (1) Silver Star, (6) Bronze Stars W/V and a Purple Heart... Unbelievable..
Mike hit the nail on the head with the way civilians handle mistakes and failure. These days there is no teamwork amongst peers. It's all ME ME ME. Sad but true. Good to see a man out there using Honor to teach and lead in a better direction. I'm a U.S. Ranger, got out in 2006 but never stopped being a Ranger as a father, son, brother, friend, leader at work and home. Straight up owning some serious mistakes in life.
