    Mike hit the nail on the head with the way civilians handle mistakes and failure. These days there is no teamwork amongst peers. It's all ME ME ME. Sad but true. Good to see a man out there using Honor to teach and lead in a better direction. I'm a U.S. Ranger, got out in 2006 but never stopped being a Ranger as a father, son, brother, friend, leader at work and home. Straight up owning some serious mistakes in life.

    (35:45) There is absolutely something about the "E-5" energy. Some have it without military experience, often learned via sports or Scouting. That energy shouts, "We can do this. Let's do this. Do this NOW." The A players at a company will follow that energy. B and C players, not so much. I first learned this by watching when a Marine E-6 joined a D1 football team near where Mike grew up. That experience was life changing for me, and I have never stopped watching how people react to leaders. Greatly helped me to be more than just an engineer.

    I’m currently on a tactical team that has major voids in leadership in reference to the attributes Mike talks about. I can only imagine the progress we’d make if we all were exposed to someone like him. So worthy of emulation. I will be buying his book asap. Thank you for such a great interview exposure!

    You have a way of pulling the best out of your guest in how they take you into their lives and you're going through it with them it's the best.
    I guess is safe to say, that your most anticipated guest is Johnny and his story, cause the way he talks about him makes us want to hear from him. How he is in the work in the near future.

    “Boldness is a byproduct of preparedness.” That is a quote that I’ll take with me for the rest of my life. Books in which cover the art and science of warfare (such as MCDP 1 Warfighting) mention boldness as a necessary trait of our leaders for exploiting fleeting opportunities in the battle space. But mr. Sarraille has added fundamental depth to why leaders must be bold. Thank you for this.

    I believe ive heard Johnny Kim say that Nic Checque was also in his boatcrew and when Johnny had a moment where he felt like he was holding his boat crew behind cause he couldnt keep up, Nic reminded him to stop doubting himself and to know that he did belong there. But a boat crew where 2 of them went on to be in Devgru, (Nic passed away in Gold squadron and Mike was in Gold), and Johnny went on to get his phd at harvard and enroute to being an astronaut is amazing!! Legendary boat crew lol

    With the advent of Marsoc, I wonder if Mike would have stayed to be a Raider? The Marine Corps has a level of bullshit that kind of wears on you. Don't get me wrong, I loved my time in but from what I hear, the seals seem to be a little more insulated from the day to day military bullshit.

    • @michaelsarraille1680
      @michaelsarraille1680 2 роки тому +1

      Your assessment is pretty spot on. MARSOC is great. They are going to be a force to be reckoned with in SOCOM. But as you said, SEALs are insulated as where MARSOC is not. MARSOC will be treated like the redheaded step child of the Marine Corps - a lot of haters who don't like the concept of an elite Marine, which flies in the face of 'Every Marine is a Rifleman.'
